  1. We like Pamela's too. In fact, I just made pancakes from Pamela's mix this morning (it's a snow day-yea!). We also use it as breading for chicken nuggets.
  2. Thanks for the links. I checked them and couldn't find any cereal that is included in the recall.
  3. I am right there with you. I have gone from one can of diet coke a day to three a day. I'm not sure why I have increased my soda intake so much. I just crave it. I have to have it first thing in the morning and it's like an addiction.
  4. I have an unopened box of EnviroKidz Peanut Butter Panda Puffs and I am afraid to eat them. Does anyone know if they are included in the peanut butter recall? It seems like that list keeps getting longer each day.
  5. Yes, we eat Orville Redenbacher Movie Theater Butter (I think that's the name).
  6. Wow! My MIL needs to get in touch with your MIL and have a crab party. We had Christmas Eve dinner at my house (totally gluten free home) and she insisted on making gluten filled mac and cheese for my niece and nephews. She wanted to use all of my cookware. When I told her that she would need to bring her own pots and pans and colander and spoons she...
  7. I ate at Uno's on Monday and had the gluten free cheese pizza. It was okay and I did not get sick but I can't say the same for my poor son. The staff at the location I went to still has a lot to learn about gluten free food. Our waitress brought out a hamburger with a bun for my son (who has Celiac). When I told her to make a new one without a bun she...
  8. I always bring my own popcorn and then purchase soda at the theater. I pop a bag of popcorn at home (a brand we know is safe) and then put it in a ziplock bag. No one has ever stopped me before. I am certain that we aren't the only mom's who do this
  9. What about when a waitress gives false information? My son ordered a child's hamburger off of the gluten free menu at a restaurant recently. It came with a bun and I immediately gave it back to the waitress and told her to make a new one without a bun. She said the bun was gluten free. I should have known better. She stood there and watched my young...
  10. Don't give up after only one week! It will take longer to feel the benefits of a gluten free diet. Keep a food diary and record what you eat and how you feel after you eat it. You may notice a trend with certain foods. Try eliminating one food at a time so if you feel better you will know you have a problem with that food.
  11. WHAT?!?! Your doctor is nuts. Find a new one. Quick, go now!
  12. I have temporarily moved the dog's dish to a toddler free location (in the garage) and my daughter has not had D since. Now I am convinced the dog food was the culprit! I will definitely look into the gluten free dog foods. My dog has a constant scaly nose and she has been to the vet several times over it. I wonder if the gluten free food would help....
  13. Welcome! This forum has helped me tremendously. It's a great place to vent, ask questions, and learn! I don't know what I would do without this forum! I felt just like you when my young son was diagnosed but I promise, it gets easier. Now, shopping gluten free is second nature. The positives far outweigh the negatives in the gluten free lifestyle. ...
  14. My son had the bloodtest in early March, the first biopsy in late March and then another biopsy in July. The doctor wants to see him again this July for follow up bloodwork. I believe he (the doctor) said follow up bloodwork would be once a year, to check antibody levels.
  15. My 17 month old daughter is gluten free and has been since birth. She has never been sick (knock on wood) and is not in daycare. But, for the past two weeks she has had diarrhea otherwise she is fine. I have been trying to think what in the world could cause the D and then I realized that she, the curious toddler that she is, has been getting into the...
  16. That is EXACTLY how I found out about my gluten problem too! I went gluten free for my son's sake, to help him cope, show him it wasn't going to be the end of the world, and to learn how to cook without gluten. I felt so much better within a week that I was stunned at how horrible I had felt before. I thought feeling like crap was normal. I ended up...
  17. My son takes a small, single serving size Thermos to school each day. He usually takes a hot dog or leftovers from dinner.
  18. I just had a cheese pizza from Uno's in St. Louis, Missouri. It was not good. It fell apart and I had to eat it with a fork. It wasn't horrible but I would not get it again.
  19. My son was diagnosed in March of last year and has since gained 10 pounds and grown almost 3 inches. I had to buy him a new wardrobe including underwear, socks, and shoes! I was so happy to do that because he was still wearing clothes he had worn in kindergarten (and he was in 2nd grade).
  20. My palpitations never woke me up but I can tell you about my experience. I began experiencing heart palpitations about 8 years ago (right after my son was born). I had to wear a heart monitor for 24 hours but they found nothing wrong. They continued off and on until I went gluten free about 6 months ago. Now, I can't remember the last time I had one.
  21. Smart Ones (Weight Watchers) frozen Santa Fe Style Rice and Beans is gluten free and says so on the box. I think there are more mainstream gluten free frozen dinners out there but I'm not sure which ones. If anyone knows, could you please list them? Thanks!
  22. You are opening a can of worms with the mention of fast food fries and the debate on if some are gluten free or not. My son and I both eat McDonalds fries with no ill effects.
  23. There is a discussion going on about this in my local support group. A member said she called General Mills this morning and they said that Strawberry Chex is gluten free now but there are still old boxes out there that are not gluten free. Apparently they are made in the same dedicated facility that Rice Chex are made so no worries about CC. I am so very...
  24. My son also reacts to Lay's products. I will only give him Lay's Staxx. They are hard to find in my area too so when the one store that carries them has them in stock I buy 10 of them.
  25. I recently purchased Chebe frozen rolls and sandwich bread. I've never seen Chebe that you mix yourself. The frozen rolls are tiny but they taste so good after not having "real" rolls for 9 months now. They are crusty on the outside and chewy on the inside. Awesome with lots of butter! The sandwich bread looks strange, not like you would think sandwich...
