  1. My son's nails used to have that curve. They are perfect now.
  2. Those were invented by a St. Louis woman! We eat them all the time. I keep one at school for my son for an emergency lunch. They are also great for toddlers (quick, easy finger food, yummy).
  3. I made 8X8. I like them thick but the box gives you several options. They were very easy to make. Add melted butter and eggs, mix, bake. That's it!
  4. I would call the doctors office and make certain the test is for genes only. There is no reason to give your son gluten if the test is for genes only.
  5. I realize some people do not see the benefit of genetic testing. However, I think it's important. If she does not carry the gene(s) then we can rest easy and we will know that her tummy ache is caused by a virus and not undiagnosed Celiac disease. If she does carry the gene(s) then we will be armed with the knowledge that someday she might develop Celiac...
  6. I made the brownies today. All I can say is WOW!
  7. Meanwhile, we are on day 6 of a gluten free diet, he's eating well, but if anything, the poop is worse. Is this normal?! Maybe I'll start a separate thread for this as it is worrying me.
  8. I believe it's the equivalent of four slices of bread per day for at least a few months.
  9. I did not mean to stir up a McDonalds fries issue. I have belonged to this forum for a year now and I should know better Anyway, my point was Ms. Hasselbeck's book contained concerning material (IMHO).
  10. Do you mean in your part of the country? I live in Missouri and I bought them yesterday!
  11. But the end product does not contain detectable amounts of gluten. Search this forum for more info. I don't know the specifics but McDonalds fries are safe to eat.
  12. The mix made 12 large cookies, like the size you would get at a bakery (I like to make them big). I just had two for breakfast. They are still soft the next day! Gluten free cookies tend to get crumbly the next day (in my opinion) and these did not!
  13. I bought and finished the book today. I too was concerned with some parts. She says McDonalds fries contain gluten. She says the gluten free diet is good for people who want to lose a few pounds before swimsuit season. Several times she referred to Celiac as an allergy. My $20 would have been better spent on those yummy new Betty Crocker mixes.
  14. I paid $3.99. Even if you must pay more, it's worth it. The cookies are really good!
  15. I understand your heartbreak. My son was 8 when he was diagnosed last year. He weighed 41 pounds. He was always by far the smallest in his class. He wore the same clothes when he was in 2nd grade that he wore in kindergarten. He acted like his size didn't bother him but I know it did. He would make comments every now and then about how he wished he...
  16. I am doing the same thing you are. My 21 month old daughter has never had gluten. We will do genetic testing sometime in the future but for now she is gluten free along with my son and me. Luckily my family and my husband's family respect our wishes to keep our daughter gluten free without knowing if she has Celiac. My son was very sick before his diagnosis...
  17. Yes! We have them here in Missouri. I bought them today at Schnucks. They were $3.99 a box. There were four varieties; devils food cake, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, and vanilla cake. I bought the cookies and brownies. I made the cookies today and they were really good. They tasted like "regular" cookies, very sweet and no strange after taste...
  18. Don't make the same mistake I did! Going gluten free before my testing was what messed up my results. I didn't know any better though. I believe, and so does my allergist, that if I kept eating gluten my Celiac test would have been positive. I wish someone would have told me to keep eating normally until my testing was complete.
  19. I purchased them at Schnucks. I heard they are also at Kroger.
  20. That's funny because I got ill a few nights ago and the only out of the ordinary thing I ate was Kraft BBQ sauce. We usually eat Sweet Baby Rays and I have never gotten ill. I also don't get ill from ketchup, mustand, etc. I was stumped as to what caused my gastro symptoms. I wonder what it is about Kraft that would make us sick......
  21. I just made the gluten free chocolate chip cookies from Betty Crocker. They are REALLY good. My ultra picky son is now eating his second one. He said they didn't taste gluten free and he is right! I can't wait to make the brownies!
  22. They are here! I finally found them at Schnucks. They are $3.99. They have four varieties; chocolate chip cookie, brownie, vanilla cake and devils food cake. I got the cookie and brownies. I am going to make them tonight! I can't wait!!!!! I will report back!
  23. If you decide to do a biopsy after the blood tests he will need to be eating gluten. It is usually a few weeks before they can get you in and that may be too long without gluten (if you take it out of his diet now). I know how hard it is to feed your child food that is making them sick but it is a must for accurate testing. To help ease the guilt we let...
  24. I have a 21 month old daughter who is gluten free. When we are out for the day I usually bring some of the following: bananas, box of raisins, dried blueberries, Stax chips, Gerber makes several toddler snacks that are gluten free like fruit strips, dried apples, and dried strawberries. My daughter still likes Baby Mum Mum crackers. She also likes Glutino...
  25. Great minds think alike! My tTG was 3 with anything over 5 being positive. My primary doctor said my test was negative for Celiac. I went to an allergist and she said I obviously have a problem with gluten and I could give it any name I wanted. The treatment is the same. I don't understand why some doctors don't think a number is positive. It means...
