Garlic Jim's is the BEST as far as we're concerned, and both my husband and I are very very sensitive. I too asked about their protocol and was assured that they took great care to prevent cross-contamination by having a completely separate area for gluten-free baking. Check out their unbelievable gluten free menu! Open Original Shared Link And...

ARCHIVED Please Help Me Save My Daughter!
nasalady replied to kaleesmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm truly sorry to hear about your daughter's issues....it's so hard when a little one is sick and you feel as though there's nothing more you can do! It sounds as though you've been very thorough in eliminating gluten, unless there is cc in a "gluten free" product. I've had experience with that more than once...I once purchased millet flour that was... -

ARCHIVED celiac disease, Gluten Sensitivity And Lung / Breathing Problems?
nasalady replied to Meggie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, my asthma is better too. Asthma is closely related to autoimmune diseases in general. The quote below is from the following medical abstract: Open Original Shared Link "The parallel appearance of asthma and autoimmune conditions in the same patients may reveal that such aberrations of the immune system have a common pathophysiologic mechanism... -

				ARCHIVED Chicken Ideas Please
nasalady replied to Ariauna's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
This sounds like an insane amount of garlic, but it is SOOOOOOO good and incredibly easy too! The garlic mellows and becomes almost sweet in the Crockpot. ARCHIVED Celiac Disease And Swine Flu
nasalady replied to strawberrygm's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
For me personally, the fact that I'm on prednisone and Imuran (immunosuppressants) due to other autoimmune issues will make me more susceptible to swine flu; I don't think that celiac disease increases the risk by itself (although celiac disease is probably the reason why I have the other autoimmune issues!). I will definitely get the shot as soon as... -

ARCHIVED Pei Wei, Do You Like It?
nasalady replied to RacerRex9727's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
My husband and I have eaten at our local Pei Wei 4 times since going gluten free. Out of the four times, we've been glutened twice by "gluten free" food. IMHO it's cross contamination. This usually happens when they're busy and the main manager isn't there. We've decided not to risk it anymore. JoAnn -

ARCHIVED Has Anyone Had Negative Ttg, Ema And Test Positive On Biopsy?
nasalady replied to zack's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm so sorry to hear about your son's health problems. Unfortunately many children with celiac have negative bloodwork and biopsies. A trial with the gluten free diet may be the best way to determine whether or not your son has problems with gluten. My granddaughter Carly had bloodwork and a biopsy at the age of 2; she had all of the classic symptoms... -

nasalady replied to Meggie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Meggie, Welcome to the board! I'm so sorry about the circumstances that bring you here though....your story had several similarities to mine so I just had to respond. You aren't alone; so many of us are or have been in the same boat! For example, I had 4 children in 5 and 1/2 years, so I know where you're coming from! In my twenties... -

ARCHIVED Is It Ok For Me To Eat Eggs Again?
nasalady replied to jasonD2's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Jason, I don't think that anyone but your doctor can answer that one. If you have an allergy to eggs I don't think that the gluten free diet will necessarily make it go away....but I could be wrong. Please ask your doctor before risking it! JoAnn -

ARCHIVED Olive Garden Gluten Free Penne!
nasalady replied to Lombardi25's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
In my experience, even with large chain restaurants, every restaurant is an entity unto itself. One Olive Garden (or Red Robin or Outback Steak House or whatever) might be very good, while another can be absolutely terrible! With respect to gluten free dining at any restaurant, as previous posters have said, I always call ahead and give them a quiz... -

Hi Becky, Here is a great primer on how to go gluten free and some basic, easy things to eat while you're figuring things out: Open Original Shared Link For my part, I would encourage you to think about what you ate before diagnosis that is naturally gluten free (eggs, meat, fish, salads, veggies, fruit, rice, potatoes, etc)....you can still... -

				ARCHIVED Cooking With Coconut Flour
nasalady replied to Jana315's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi Jana, I have "Cooking with Coconut Flour" and yes, I think it's worth the price. Some recipes turn out better than others...we love the cheese muffins! Can you use almond flour? Because I just bought Elana Amsterdam's cookbook, "The Gluten Free Almond Flour Cookbook", and I haven't tried any recipes yet, but those who have seem very happy and the... -

Check out this blogsite; Stephanie O'Dea posted a new recipe every day for a year during 2008, and still posts occasionally. There are some really really good recipes (Garlic Chicken is one of my favorites) AND every recipe is gluten free, because her daughter has problems with gluten: Open Original Shared Link

During our recent trip to Oregon we stayed in the Grants Pass/Medford area for a week. We ended up eating at McGrath's Fish House in Medford three times because of their extensive gluten free menu....lots of options for me and my husband (both of us have celiac disease) and our gluten intolerant 3 and 4 year old kids! The manager and staff were very knowledgeable...

Crimson, I really hope you find a good doctor/dermatologist! Preferably one who's had experience diagnosing DH!! ARCHIVED Amazing Experience At The Sheraton Tolay In Petaluma Ca
nasalady posted a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
We stopped in Petaluma at the Sheraton for one night. The next morning was Sunday, and we wanted to eat a safe breakfast in the on-site restaurant, Tolay. Everyone in my immediate family is either celiac or gluten intolerant. I spoke to the manager and showed him a Triumph Dining Card. He promptly asked if he could photocopy it...he said this would...
