ARCHIVED Food Intolerance Symptoms - Gluten Or Other?
ang1e0251 replied to Rhoger1's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
A colonoscopy does not dx celiac disease. You should have had an endoscopy. You can have false negatives in the blood work. As to your ongoing symptoms, the other poster is right, many of us have to give up dairy for a time in the beginning. Some can add it back in after some healing. The fact that you felt well in the beginning, then some... -
ARCHIVED How The Hell Am I Supposed To Travel?
ang1e0251 replied to jasonD2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't really know where you're traveling, but my husband is Colombian and I spent a couple of stints living there. They really eat very little flour which is probably why I felt so good while I was there. They eat corn cakes called arepas which I still eat and most of their meats are fried or boiled. No breading. Their diet is rather bland. No one bakes... -
ARCHIVED Not Celiac After All? (this Is Urgent)
ang1e0251 replied to Serversymptoms's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My assistant's son had lumps on the back of his head/neck and it was related to ongoing sinus problems. When those were addressed, the lumps slowly went away. -
ARCHIVED Unknown Diagnosis
ang1e0251 replied to Miss5's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm sorry the doctor was so rude to your Mom. That is just unacceptable in a healthcare professional. Did he schedule her for an endoscopy? That is the correct test for celiac disease. They need to take multiple biopsies in different locations for the testing to be accurate. As for her blood test, Ask for a copy of the test results to be sent to... -
ARCHIVED Partial Tests Results In
ang1e0251 replied to Whimsy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I don't think you can say that until you have all of the results and post them here along with their ranges. There are those who are good at interpreting those. Also know that there are many who have false negatives with regard to bloodwork. So a negative blood panel does not rule out celiac disease. An endoscopy, dietary response and even gene... -
ARCHIVED 24 Hours Gluten Free
ang1e0251 replied to Midget's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hey, Midget, welcome to the forum and congratulations on a diagnosis! I too felt positive changes with in 24 hours and I just felt better and better after that! Some people have problems down the road but if you start the diet slowly while you are learning, and introduce foods carefully, there is no reason why you shouldn't keep feeling great as you go... -
ARCHIVED What To Do If You Slip Up
ang1e0251 replied to chris s's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I go for hot tea. It does help a little. Then I usually feel like I'm starving even while I'm bloated and running to the bathroom. I know it's just a symptom but it is compelling so I just let myself eat as much as I want of safe, light food. I like broth with rice noodles, jello and plain Rice Chex. -
ARCHIVED The Worst Canker Sore Outbreak Ever
ang1e0251 replied to bigapplekathleen's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
THanks for letting us know. I have been thinking of you and wondering from time to time how you are. I'm so glad you have a diagnosis. -
It's OK for you to say that here. It's OK for you to say anything here. This is a safe place for you to speak. I'm sorry you are in a situation like that. I know I would be devastated to live that way. That said I don't think anyone who is not in your shoes can understand your reasons for staying in your situation. So go ahead and way what you...

ARCHIVED Digestion Effecting Mood? Was Cutting Out Grains A Proper Choice?
ang1e0251 replied to Pyro's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dr. Carolyn Dean who's book I read, recommends 600 mg of magnesium per day. You find out more on her website. You can't take a full dose at once. You start off with a low dose and build up to it. You may not need that much but your body will tell you. Without dairy or eggs it's hard to get all the dietary fat you need. I wish I could have the fresh... -
It could be, as you mentioned, celiac disease reactions are varied. But you need to be eating gluten in order for your testing to be accurate. Eat gluten right up until your test time. You can switch back to gluten-free right after your test. Even if your test result is negative, if gluten-free makes you feel better, go ahead and follow the diet. You...

ARCHIVED Ive Had It With This!
ang1e0251 replied to Firegirl43's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Are you sure it's a gluten reaction? The dyes in the M & M's can cause skin rashes for some people. Do other foods with dyes bother you? I've never had DH from either of those foods. -
ARCHIVED Has Any One Experienced More Effects From Caffeine After Going gluten-free?
ang1e0251 replied to mattathayde's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had to give up coffee as it was causing tremors of my tongue and jaw. But I don't think it was the caffiene as I have more caffein now in tea than I used to. But there are certain teas that really make me feel bad, I don't know why. They don't appear to have gluten in them but made me really sick. I just had to stop drinking those kinds. And strangly... -
Wow, I'm so sorry you are feeling this way. It is a hard thing to get your mind around. It does get easier with time. Really. It's OK to mourn a part of your life that has changed completely but at some point you need to stop yourself and make up your mind to live life to the fullest in the best way you can and never, ever let a bread crumb define who...

ARCHIVED Dairy, Gluten And Bm
ang1e0251 replied to julie13's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I cannot handle fresh milk not even Lactose Free although my daughter can. I can eat butter and aged cheeses. If he's just lactose intolerant, he may be able to eat very low lactose foods like aged cheeses, yogurt and sour cream. If he's allergic to casein, milk protein, he won't tolerate any dairy of any kind. -
ARCHIVED The Miracle That Is The Gluten Free Diet!

I'm so glad you have found the solution for your little guy! A sick child is such a worry. -
ARCHIVED I'm G.intolerant - Son Has Diarrhea
ang1e0251 replied to 2plustwins's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I've read that testing in children is very inconsistant. I wouldn't believe the results unless they were positive. Have you tried a gluten-free diet for him? It would probably decide it for you if he responded to it. -
ARCHIVED Becoming A Chemist And Frustrated!
ang1e0251 replied to DinaB's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I wonder if a local compounding pharmacy could make you medicines you could tolerate. If you could work with your doctor while you are well to find a pain killer or two you could tolerate that was specially formulated just for you, it would go far helping you in an emergency. -
ARCHIVED How Strict "gluten-free Diet"?
ang1e0251 replied to mellowyellowmushroom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I react still to some complex carbs. I did react to fruits in the beginning but after a few months was able to reintroduce those. I'm off most carbs right now as I'm dieting and I have to say I've never felt better. I think I will continue to limit carbs going forward. I guess my system is just happier without them. -
ARCHIVED Digestion Effecting Mood? Was Cutting Out Grains A Proper Choice?
ang1e0251 replied to Pyro's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I didn't notice you mention eggs or any dairy. Can you not tolerate those? I have a lot of aged cheese along with meats and eggs. It's a good source of extra protein. I like a little fruit like grapes with cheese. For dessert after dinner, I like pineapple. These sit well with me. I'm not crazy about fish so I supplement fish oil. Really though... -
ARCHIVED Digestion Effecting Mood? Was Cutting Out Grains A Proper Choice?
ang1e0251 replied to Pyro's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
What's your day to day diet like? Are you getting enough dietary fat and protein? It doesn't sound like it. Carbs can just wack out your blood sugar levels if you don't have enough fats and proteins. Also my bathroom problems sounded a lot like yours but improved greatly when I increased my magnesium levels. Some can handle this and some can't.... -
I felt a lot like you the first year in but I kept pushing it the more I read on this site. The energy was good but took a whole new turn when I followed the advice here about sublingual B12. It made a huge difference in my energy level and sense of well-being. I also read about magnesium levels and realized I was way low. That helped my digestion, better...

Like gluten symptoms vary from person to person, so do lactose symptoms. I cannot have anything close to fresh; milk, cottage cheese, yogurt or sour cream. I can still tolerate butter, aged cheese. My daughter's symptoms are different from mine but she can use the Lactaid supplement and have a little ice cream. Not me, it just doesn't work for me. ...

ARCHIVED Sigh.. Back In The Battle Again..
ang1e0251 replied to mysecretcurse's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It could be the tea. It does sound like it's something you're ingesting every day. I had reaction to 2 different teas this winter. It was similar to a gluten reaction. Netiher one had gluten but I still felt terrible. The second one had bergamot which I later found out can affect your muscles and joints. I've been off it about 2 months but I still have... -
ARCHIVED A New Weight Loss Support/accountability Thread
ang1e0251 replied to lonewolf's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi, everyone, and welcome to a new week! We had my daughter's open house this weekend. Yea, all my holiday work and graduation obligations are finished and all came off well. I thought I had eaten way too many carbs yesterday but I have lost another pound. I am happy!! That brings my total to 10 pounds lost. I'm looking forward to a great week....
