ARCHIVED What Now? Normal Blood Test - But All The Celiacs Symptoms
ang1e0251 replied to MommyofTwins's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Just know there is no test for gluten intolerance. They might not have celiac disease but be intolerant. There is no definate way to know. An endoscopy might prove celiac disease but also could be negative. It's just not a perfect test. In either case, the perscription is the same. gluten-free diet. Do what you as parents feel is best. -
ARCHIVED Ttg Not Lower 3 Months After gluten-free
ang1e0251 replied to DadCares's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I would back up the posters who said it's too soon and you don't have a definate number so who knows? The headaches are significant. There are a couple of kids in the local school who have lost a year's worth of school due to the many absences from headaches. Growth too sounds good. Another poster at another site found her daughter's numbers higher... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Else Lose Their Childhood?...
ang1e0251 replied to HelpinOhio's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm so sorry you've suffered so much and missed a lot of childhood milestones. All I have to say is that this eighteen years is finally over and now you can spend the next 80 years feeling healthy and in control. It's going to be great!! Maybe you can think of your start on the gluten-free diet your "new" birthday!! -
ARCHIVED I Feel Like Im Running Out Of Options!

If you're still not well, consider you may be sensitive to something else. The elimination diet and journal would be good for you also if you suspect another food problem. -
ARCHIVED I Feel Like Im Running Out Of Options!
ang1e0251 replied to wilem008's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ive been gluten free since may 2008 and I know it helps. Im recently lactose free aswell and Ive started cutting back in my re-fined sugar intake aswell. Yesterday, I went to see my gastro specialist doctor to get the biopsy results from the colonoscopy. She told me all the biopsys were normal and that I was healthy. When I explained that Im still unwell... -
ARCHIVED Blood Work Indicate Celiac Diease
ang1e0251 replied to Nicholasmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks for posting your follow up. I'm glad you have a diagnosis. It's very hard to get positive blood work on a small child so if he came up positive, that's very strong for celiac disease. I don't know about the fecal. What kind of test did they run on that and can you post the results here from your copy? Many here know how to read medical test results... -
Welcome to the Forum. I sorry it's been a tough time for you but when your sick or having troubles is when you find out who your real friends or future mates are. About shopping, I reccomend starting out your first weeks with a very simple diet of meat, vegetable and fruits, rice and potatoes. Whole foods you can have confidence in. Then about...

ARCHIVED "Super Sensitive" Celiacs.....
ang1e0251 replied to jerseyangel's topic in Super Sensitive People
[quote name='prayin4achange' date='Mar 23 2009, 09:49 AM' post='519715' I quit consuming milk and cheese and started soy milk instead, but i keep hearing soy is a big prob for people. Also, we eat at friend's houses all the time and I refrain from food with cheese, but milk's included in lots of things I'd never assume. Im also eat yogurt a lot bc I hear... -
ARCHIVED Dermatitis Herpetiformis Questions
ang1e0251 replied to susanm's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you need a dx, go to the home page and look at the DH information file. There is a report written by a dermatologist who explains exactly how the biopsy should be done. What you have could be DH. Or you might be allergic to wheat, a totally different condition that is topical. You should check all products coming into contact with your skin and scalp... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Spill Clean Up?
ang1e0251 replied to quietmorning01's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
To be honest the only thing I replaced was my old egg skillet that was nonstick and very beat up. All the rest of what was mentioned, I kept and still use. I did buy my own toaster. Now...that is not to say that if you are still having symptoms, you will have to take a closer look at all those things. So if this is something you only want to do... -
ARCHIVED Everytime I Get Gluten Free For 6 Days Or More I Get Gluten Again
ang1e0251 replied to UnhappyCoeliac's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sorry it's been so hard for you. College has to be a royal pain to be celiac in. It is maddening to keep getting glutened. I'm not in college and it keeps happening to me. I also am really short on money but I just eat simple foods since that's what I can afford. Even being careful isn't enough to keep me safe at times. Just make your... -
ARCHIVED Dermatitis Herpetiformis Questions
ang1e0251 replied to susanm's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It could be DH. When I had it, my Mom had some perscription cream that helped me so I'm sorry I can't help you with the itchy stuff. I don't know how long you've had this but my experience has been that when I stopped eating the gluten, the rash began to heal beginning with the itch starting to back off. If it's getting worse and it is DH, then it's... -
ARCHIVED Any Pressure Cooker Users?
ang1e0251 replied to doodle's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Gamal says the pressure cooker should be about 3/4's full between water and meat for it to cook effectively. Also he says to wait till you hear the cooker reach full pressure then cook for 10 minutes before shutting off. Hope that helps. -
ARCHIVED Is It Normal/okay To Have Stomach Pain After 1 Year?
ang1e0251 replied to raisin's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I didn't notice whether you are still having dairy. If you are you might stop that for awhile and see if it helps. Lots of us cannot tolerate dairy. Some can add it back in later. Also you mentioned coconut. Do you drink water from a filter? Many water filters have coconut fibers in them and can kick in your allergic response. I read a poster... -
ARCHIVED If You Wash A Pan Thats Been Used To Cook Gluttened Goods Is It Clean?
ang1e0251 replied to UnhappyCoeliac's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I feel this is a personal choice. I only replaced one skillet that was in bad shape but we do not cook with gluten at all in my kitchen now. I don't feel I'm being exosed every day. If you are not reacting to the pans, then I say keep doing things the way you are. If you're having a problem, it's probably a good idea to buy a pan just for you. -
ARCHIVED Residual Symptoms Or Slip Ups?
ang1e0251 replied to Beloved's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
[quote name='Mrs. Smith' date='Mar 20 2009, 10:06 PM' post='519182' I think lunch meat gives me a reaction too. I had pastrami 2 days in a row and felt like crap. I was reacting too. Now I only eat Hormel Naturals lunch meat. It's nitrate/ite free. I have had no problem with any of those. -
ARCHIVED Any Pressure Cooker Users?
ang1e0251 replied to doodle's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I will ask my husband for you. He'l Colombian and they use their pressure cookers almost every day. He has much more experience than I. I've never had meat come out the way you've described. Off the top of my head, it sounds like too little moisture and too little time. But I will ask Gamal for the expert advice. -
ARCHIVED Good Corn-free Icing?
ang1e0251 replied to CeliacInSanDiego's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I just read a long thread about Passover sugar on my local group. You didn't say how you make the 7 minute frosting but you do know that it has to be cooked 7 minutes in a double boiler while mixing right? It's actually an excellant frosting that's a little like marshmallow cream but makes a light crust if uncovered overnight. I used to make a light yellow... -
ARCHIVED Trying Out Gluten Free
ang1e0251 replied to beanpot's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You are going to have to go completely gluten-free to know if the diet will clear up your C. It could also be another food you are sensitive to that's adding to the problem. Many of us found after going gluten-free that other items popped us that bothered us. I've never had a problem with C until now. If I eat too many alternate grains I really get backed... -
ARCHIVED Blood Test After 9 Mo gluten-free?
ang1e0251 replied to Seekingsun54's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm a little confused. Are you saying you already met with the specialist and mentioned celiac disease & the dr ordered the blood test? Or are you going to meet her and plan to mention celiac disease? To show positive after being gluten-free for so long is unlikely and some dr's need 3 months worth of gluten eating before they will test. Won... -
ARCHIVED Dna Testing..worth It?
ang1e0251 replied to foodiegurl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sounds to me like you have been diagnosed. Your blood test was positive and your dr dx'd you with celiac disease. Gluten intolerance cannot show on any test. You only are going to make the antibodies if you have an autoimmune response. The genetic tests can tell you what genes you have but that is not a diagnosis of the disease. Just because you have... -
ARCHIVED Gluten-free Three-cheese Lasagne

Anyone have any suggestions on a dairy free sub for the ricotta? -
Thanks for the tip. It sound like me. I take D but probably not nearly enough. I'll have him run all my levels next time in.
