Actually, there are other people with yeast intolerance and I have NOT seen anyone else with fever issues associated with yeast, only me. It could be gluten - it could be related to your hormones - it could be nothing other than the start of a cold - it could be anything. Mine started very random and it took years for it to settle into a pattern. You...

I got hooked by my dad, I hooked my boys (much to their dads chagrin). -
I finally went to the doctor, after several years of that - I would sometimes run a fever for 2 weeks. I lost time at work, I didn't do much, etc. Anyway, the doc put me in the hospital because they couldn't figure out why I had the fever, the docs at the hospital never figured out why I had the fever either. That was about 5 or 6 years ago. They only released...

OK - I am now sold! I am paying $2.99 per quart for my hazelnut milk - even with the shipping I will be saving money and if it tastes more like regular milk - all the better!!! It will have to wait until I get paid on Friday though... I would really like some ice cream now...thank you. -

ARCHIVED 83 Year Old Husband Finally Diagnosed
kabowman replied to Sprued's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Congratulations on the DX!!!! And the wonderful job of the transition!!! That is such a huge and difficult change. I have family with allergies and refuse to change even when they get to the point that they can't talk and is having difficulty breathing. The food gets better and more varied once you figure everything out. -
ARCHIVED Elimination Test
kabowman replied to bellad's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Buckwheat is OK, it isn't wheat but other things might be bothering you tummy just because they are hard to digest. I had to give up beans - something with the protein but I can still have green beans. I also don't eat raw carrots any more. A lot of you symptoms sound like celiac disease. I don't have a formal DX for myself but hubby can see how much healthier... -
ARCHIVED Elimination Test
kabowman replied to bellad's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The first thing I see is oatmeal - it is considered to be so contaminated during the harvesting process that it is not considered safe. You may want to try a food diary - very boring but very helpful for about a month. You right down everything that goes in your mouth and keep track of any symtoms, even if they don't seem related. There may be hidden... -
ARCHIVED How Can Eating In Restaurants Not Get You Sick?
kabowman replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I created my own dining cards (with common names for each thing because of the ignorance of most people about what gluten actully is) because of my multiple intolerances - I haven't had to use one in a while because I am very specific about the conditions my food must be prepared in, cooked in, served, etc. I think because I am very specific, while appologizing... -
ARCHIVED Getting A True Diagnosis......
kabowman replied to Carolann1217's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
First, welcome - glad you are finding all this out...now, I went off gluten on the advise of sereral nurse practitioners and nurse friends who suggested gluten could be part of my problem THEN I went in to see the docs to tell them what I found (I actually got rid of the doc I had had for 10+ years because she said it was just an allergy I developed and move... -
ARCHIVED Buckwheat
kabowman replied to Lister's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I thought buckwheat was in the rice family - not a fruit - learn something new everyday. -
ARCHIVED How Careful Do I Need To Be?
kabowman replied to marcia24's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My hubby still eats a lot of sandwhiches because they are cheap and it leaves the good, gluten-free leftovers for me for lunches and snacks. I clean the counters ALL the time but he washes the dishes. If you use teflon - you need separate pots/pans and cast iron should be dedicated too - the rest (enamel (sp???) and stainless steel) are fine sharing... -
ARCHIVED I Am Starving!
kabowman replied to Mia H's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I ate lots and lots of potatoes - with lots and lots of protein because of sugar issues - I am pre-diabetic - the meat seemed to help balance the starch of the potatoes. Of course, I gained weight but I was finally full!!! I don't need to do that as much but I do seem to eat more than a lot of people and I am not that overweight. -

ARCHIVED Book - Have You Read And What Is Your Opinion?
kabowman posted a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I am spending a weekend in Chicago with family and during search for food places (because I will have to deal with my dad who thinks I am a little psycho about this) so I can have a list of places that are safe for me before we go, this book popped up. I am thinking about buying this book but would really hate to waste my money on something that is pretty... -
Pork, the other white meat (I only know this from watching commercials though).

ARCHIVED Advice Re: Biopsy, Please!
kabowman replied to ashmom2's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
As to the schools - I have not had any problems with my youngest son - HOWEVER, he is only lactose intolerant but the cafeteria ladies and the nurse have been excellent with everything. Just about everything on the menu at his school has some type of milk in it so he has to be very careful. My other son's food intolerances are easier for him to deal with... -
ARCHIVED Personal Products
kabowman replied to Lister's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
When a product just says starch, I go to the Web site and research it there - they almost always list which kind of starch they use if you did deep enough - if not, you can always call and see if they can look it up for you. If in doubt, stay away - also, if it isn't bothering me - since I have not tested positive for celiac disease - I am not in danger... -
ARCHIVED All Hail Chebe!
kabowman replied to penguin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have only done the mixes. They have frozen? If they do, I didn't look - of course, I only look at gluten-free/CF/DF. -
ARCHIVED Minute Rice
kabowman replied to Lister's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Right now, that is the only rice - actual rice, not rice flour, that I can eat and I am having the last of what he made two nights ago with lunch today. -
ARCHIVED Nearly There!
kabowman replied to SarahK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My EDG was negative and I had already been gluten-free so I have never had the blood test. I am actually the first in our family to identify all these problems. After I started to point out all this stuff, and my symptoms, my family said, OH, my mom used to get like that, it was amazing. Another person is now gluten-free and feels much better. Just... -
ARCHIVED All Hail Chebe!
kabowman replied to penguin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Chebe now has a DF/gluten-free focaccia bread!!! mix and an all purpose DF/gluten-free mix which tastes like biscuits and makes into decent buns. The focaccia bread is very good and I add sliced tomatoes, more, fresh this time of year, rosemary, and coarse sea salt. I have always used the breadstick mix to make two mini french loaves and now I use it... -
ARCHIVED Looking For Chili Seasoning Mix
kabowman replied to msserena's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use cayenne, minced garlic, cumin, sea salt, and black pepper. I make mine without beans due to family issues (hubby, oldest son, me) with those little wonders. I do use a can of mild (for the kids) tomato with chilles for extra spice. I am not a fan of chilli powder so I don't use it. -
ARCHIVED How Can Eating In Restaurants Not Get You Sick?
kabowman replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I eat out several times a month and have about 4 regular places I go to without problems. There are a couple of others that I go to and always get a little sick but not bad so I don't go there often, but occasionally I do for work. I never get sick unless I go at the wrong times like when they are too busy to as much attention to my food as I need them...
