  1. I think some of us need to go that route when you are first starting out. You just don't know. My husband had the same opinion - we didn't learn anything but it didn't really hurt to go since insurance covered the visit. This board is more help than any doc or nutritionist I ever talked to...ever.
  2. Hubby has a mustach and I always tell him when it has food - he keeps it clean now and keeps threatening to shave it off for the summer. One of these days I will come home from work after he has taken an afternoon off and it will be gone!!! I just don't think he will look right without it.
  3. My oldest son has kept his own food intolerances and they have not grown - yet; his celiac disease test was negative. My oldest son's eczema, which can get bad, comes and goes - he hasn't had a batch in almost a year now. I have not been able to link it to anything specific. My youngest son didn't have any food issues when he was born but has developed...
  4. When you pack the suitcase full of food - you have empty space for souviniers on the way home!!!!! I always take my own cooler and bag of food for any trip...works better and is safer.
  5. A place like this??? Definitly! Just call and ask to talk to the manager, say you have food issues/allergies which people tend to understand better and let him/her know you will be coming in with a big party tomorrow but don't want to make a fuss at the party. They want happy customers, most decent places will work with anything you want. I rarely...
  6. I feel soooo much better - your title describes part of my diet except for the EF - luckily, eggs don't bother me. I love how healthy we eat, and how we rarely get sick. I never tested for celiac disease - I chose the diet over the dx and now I don't look back. My problems started after my ex sued for custody of our boys and there was a 2 year court...
  7. I was very happy with the fact that my nutritionist knew about celiac disease, gave me info, talked about where the hidden gluten was etc and I had gone in for pre-diabetes appointment, not for food intolerances. Unfortunately, she didn't say anything that I had not already found out on my own, online.
  8. So, are you home for your late breakfast? If yes, I eat scrambled eggs with sauted veggies and homemade sausage most days lots of protein and holds me for quite a while, relatively speaking. If something ever changed with my system, I could be in biiiiggg trouble - I eat about 5-7 meals each day - three normal then mini-meals in between. My oldest was...
  9. I kiss much less now and nothing deep. Personal choice. I do kiss but never while he is drinking or eating somethink I can't have but if he hasn't eaten or drank anything I can't have for a while and has drank plain water or tea, then I will kiss him lightly. He lives with it, I live with it. He knows how sick I can get and sometimes we just can't figure...
  10. Armetta - you can find corn syrup free ketchup and most other things if you look - mine are available at one of the health food stores in town - but watch those too because most of those still use corn syrup. Look and look and you can find one without so you don't have to give that up. Most pasta sauces have corn syrup too unless you pay extra and still...
  11. Guar Gum is/can be used as a laxative. I try to limit what I eat because I have enough problems in that area already!
  12. I am planning a trip to Chicago this summer too and this is what I have found so far online: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link I know I can also eat at some chains so those will be my backup in case these are not too kid friendly...
  13. I went to my doc and got a prescription for albuteral - if you have "seasonal depression" you can get it much cheaper through insurance - my hubby paid $125 for his month of pills. However, if you figure the cost of smoking, it really isn't that bad. I think I paid $25 for mine. Anyway - it was the only way I could quit. One day, after I had been smoking...
  14. My gluten reactions start, mild gas, about 2-3 hours later. However, about 5 hours later I am in horrible pain with cramping, horrible gas, and D and the next day I have brain fog - which could either be the glutening or the meds I take to get by. My system then takes days - up to a week - before I can even consider that I am back to normal. Funny because...
  15. One of my dentist's assistant has a celiac disease and they are very cautious - when I chatted with the dentist about my food issues, she immediatly checked the ingredients of what was going to go in my mouth to see if I could have it...I have been having my teeth fixed after avoiding the dentist for a loooonnnngggg time.
  16. I am going to add because last night, cramps woke me up and we can't figure out what could have caused them - spent about half the night in the bathroom--we both got up this morning and re-checked the chicken, which I had on Friday too but different batch, same brand - Perdue. So, I took my IBS meds, which don't really help a lot but figure they aren...
  17. I too sometimes have this problem - I also have acid reflux problems and I attibute it to too much acid buildup in my system/stomach and if I eat something, it does help. I now eat about 5-6 small meals a day - morning, mid-morning, lunch, mid-afternoon, late-afternoon (if dinner will be late that night), dinner. I haven't had that happen in a while ...
  18. I have been using Eucerin and don't see any gluten or soy in the extra repair lotion.
  19. I bought the lasagna noodles a little while ago but haven't made any yet because I haven't eaten lasagna withOUT any cheese. Not sure how to do this - any ideas? Just go with the noodles, sauce, meat, and spinach (yes I do both)? If you have tried it this way, is it just too squishy?
  20. I used to make the one in the Betty Crocker cook book - it always worked and never failed.
  21. I too stick to red meat when eating out because it is the easiest to cook in its own skillet without them having to use veggie oil which has corn and soy. There are a few of places in my town that ONLY use olive oil so I let them fix me what they want...depending on the chef's mood.
  22. I gave up carrots several months ago because of the digestive distress they were giving me. I guessed it was the in the raw form that was the problem but it could be all carrots. I don't eat too many cooked because they just don't taste right that way and can get mushy. Ewwww.
  23. Enjoy Life Foods has soy, dairy, gluten, corn free chocolate chips that work great for that sweet tooth.
  24. Ditto - we switched because I threw all the regular pasta away and they had no choice. Everyone LOVES it - including the neighbors and my dad. I have tried others but was already spoiled by the BEST.
  25. Well, my question would be, what are you eating now that is NOT causing AS and if you are eliminating foods - how would that increase your risk???? I agree with Patti - find an allergist who is willing to work with you more and understands food issues better.
