  1. I guess I am really lucky, my dental hygentist has food intolerances and her daughter has gluten and soy intolerances so when I ask what they use, she tells me exactly - and when I asked my dentist about stuff she was putting in/on, she immediatly read the ingredients and asked if all of them were OK to use or not.
  2. Ditto with my meds and corn - those I try to keep to minimum but haven't noticed too many problems with it as long as that is the extent of my corn. I am not to a point where I have to eliminate those yet. I have cut out my salt and only use the one sea salt I found that doesn't use anything as an anti-caking agent - but - I still use products with xanthum...
  3. Hey, I get these blisters but never thought about DH because, well the pictures don't paint a pretty picture and mine don't look too bad...just very itchy, blisters that come and go. I even go to the point where I thought maybe they were poison ivy even though I couldn't figure out how or where I might have picked it up. In fact, I just got over a...
  4. I use cashew butter (raw) instead of peanut butter. One of my intolerances, I think it is yeast but not totally sure, causes joint pain for me. Personally, I avoid all beans and peanut butter. I still eat green beans and peas with few problems but the rest, I won't even add them to the chili. I make a very hearty chili and beans would be nice added...
  5. I hate to be a downer but mine have progressed, not gotten better. Smaller and smaller amounts make me sick, even now, years later. Keep trying. I had a problem with some rice but not others. I have problems with some nuts, not others, etc. BUT my system, once it gets out of whack, can take a while to get back to normal (well, normal for us) and then...
  6. I have problems with canker sores and have had SINCE I went gluten-free. My pcp thought it was a vitamin B deficiency so now I take mega doses and but no effect...they just come (up to 10+ at a time) and go in waves (about a month at a time) but in the last few months have actually finally gotten better. My dentist just prescribed me a mouthwash to use...
  7. I think in Canada you can't donate blood with celiac disease but in US you can.
  8. Apparently we do, thanks!
  9. My son, HATES, HATES, therapy stuff, really, really HATES anything associated with it. One of the reasons we have been dealing with his pediatrition only. He is a very private person. He also HATES all testing, except this last one he said wasn't too bad. We had a wonderful inclusion teacher for him in 5th/6th grade that helped a lot and since he is so...
  10. Vincent, my oldest son, 15, is dislexic, disgraphic, and ADHD (docs office has ADD but he gets very hyper when he isn't totally absorbed into something or when the meds wear off). He has been on meds for 4 years now - we won't ever go back. He is The Poster Child for these meds because he made such a turnaround. He would go into the hallway at school...
  11. Well, this would explain why mine are finally more normal, not always, and not quite, but closer. I think the white slippery stuff is mucus. I used to have problems with that as well but all gone now.
  12. I thought that floating stools was associated with amount of gas, mostly "attributed" to IBS. Now, I have both, in the same sitting, regularly but not nearly as much as it was before I figured out all my food issues.
  13. AQ - 17 EQ - 42 SQ - 63 My EQ/SQ numbers more closely matched male rather than female - hum...wonder what that is all about.
  14. I agree with Carla - if she is a stay-at-home-mom this will be much more difficult and hiding food in your room isn't really the best idea either. That may make her more upset. When she goes out, take that time to enjoy your food but maybe you need to ask for snacks and stuff that she can eat so that you can eat those more freely and then just save the...
  15. This is the reply I got, within 24 hours, in reference to a question I had for them on other problems foods - soy and corn - in their seasoning mix (I also complimented them in the same note): Thank you for your interest in Cheeseburger In Paradise. In regards to your question, some of our seasonings contain a small trace of soy oil as a binding agent...
  16. JoBeth - ditto to everyone here. I know when I discovered my problems and was having a difficult time adjusting, my oldest, 13 at the time, helped me read labels on everything I was buying for myself. He caught stuff that I bought for me that I shouldn't have been eating. He was a big help...he didn't shop with me often but helped me out at home. Sometimes...
  17. Thanks for the link!!!!
  18. I personally chose NOT to go back on gluten for a formal DX - my biopsy was negative and I have never had blood tests. My son's doctor, based on some of their info and my info, tested my oldest and it was negative...luckily. My docs warned and chatted and I said no. Another comment - you wonder why this is only you in your family? Well, when I mentioned...
  19. I had problems that were not properly identified as a early teen but got better. After kids, I started to develop all my problems. After my first pregnancy at 24, is when I started to have my joint pain, now at almsot 40 (next month!!!), it is basically mostly gone. It took me months for the first ones years ago but once I got soooo bad that I couldn...
  20. Heck, I was a single mom in her 30's of 2 boys when I was dating and I gave my dates the 3rd degree about their past. Did you stalk, were you arrested, what happened in your divorce, etc. After one or two episodes of being stalked, criminal past, etc, I decided to get it out in the open right from the start. I didn't have anyone stop wanting to date me...
  21. I wondered about their fries - their Web site says they use canola oil, which I can have, but I didn't know about the dedicated frier and I haven't called yet. If yes, I need to make a trip - they just added on in Bloomington, IN last year and I haven't tried yet.
  22. 1.) Have you been officially diagnosed with any blood sugar condition (ie. Diabetes type 1 or 2, reactive or fasting hypo, impaired glucose tolerance, etc.)? Pre-Diabetes about 1 1/2 years ago. 2.) If you haven’t been diagnosed, what are you symptomatic of? N/A 3.) Have you had an OGTT (Oral Glucose Tolerance Test), and if so, what was the load (...
  23. I am the only one in the house (of 5) that is gluten-free. I do NOT have a gluten free kitchen - what I do have is my own personal gluten-free pantry which is very nice - the new house we just moved into about a year ago had two pantries - and my own gluten-free shelf in the 'fridge. I too go through tons of utensils - better to wash than take a chance...
  24. I am the only one gluten-free in the family - however, most of our meals at home are naturally gluten-free. We only occasionally cook a gluten filled side for the rest to eat. And pizza night, I fix mine first then I fix theirs so no fumes leftover in the oven to contaminate my food...learned that one the hard way! I am first in the microwave too. I rarely...
  25. I am facing this myself because lunch and dinner should be OK once we lay out our "battle plan" for eating but breakfast - hard to tell. Most places I call won't guarentee a perfectly safe meal anyway, however, I almost never have a problem and rarely get sick so therefore I am willing to accept possible CC because I don't have a celiac disease dx. The worst...
