  1. I went with the food diary route while on a simple, plain diet and was able to pinpoint most of mine but it took a few months. Now, when I start to have an issue, I can usually figure it out within a couple of months without the diary.
  2. I too have a problem with yeast, was treated for about a year, but never formally dx with lyme disease too. Anyway, I have an intolerance - I have no candida symptoms other than yeast intolerance. For me, yeast makes me crash, litterly pass out for a few hours, then I have brain fog for another day or so and I also notice GI problems. I avoid all...
  3. If I remember correctly, most BCPs have lactose as a coating. Now, that has been about 5 years ago the last I researched that but, mine is mild enough that I am not giving up my pill to control my periods!!!
  4. I'm in Bloomington...
  5. I always have the fillet, let the server know my food issues and order a salad, sans croutons, cheese, and dressing - with lemons on the side. I used to eat their green beans but they bother me now so hubby gets those. I didn't have a problem with them too much until bacon started to bother me.
  6. Gluten Free Cooks Comfort Foods - page 93, I think - I haven't made them since it turned warm.
  7. I make Bette Hagman's egg noodles for my chicken noodle soup. My kids actually beg for my soup, they never begged for food before except pancakes. Boil a chicken, which makes the soup base and broth and debone (or boil boned chicken breasts but you won't get the really good extra flavor). Add veggies then the noodles you made while the chicken was boiling...
  8. My boys' father is the same way. Doesn't believe the youngest even has asthma, let alone lactose intolerance (not gluten, not yet anyway and celiac disease was negative). The last time we wer eat the docs office, I blurted out that he doesn't believe it, because he doesn't have problems at "his house" but I told the doc that he comes home sick and has to...
  9. We eat at ours all the time - the bar-tenders recognize me and fix me my special margarita with their corn syrup free lemonaid too.
  10. Teff: A small but mighty grain Healthy kitchen August 9, 2006 Teff is a tiny, round tan-colored grain crammed full of nutrition. It's the smallest grain in the world, measuring only 1/32 of an inch and taking 150 grains to weigh as much as one grain of wheat. Although small in size, this miniscule whole grain provides enormous nutrition. Teff...
  11. I have great experiences at our local Red Lobster - never have any problems, even when I go when they are busy.
  12. Just got back from Chicago and didn't get a chance to eat here Open Original Shared Link but when I called, even with my very restricted diet, they were fine. This place was recommended to me by the Chicago celiac disease group. Also, we stayed in Schaumburg and ate at Open Original Shared Link and the first day, had a mediocre waitress, the second time...

    ARCHIVED Day 3

Stay away from all soy sauce, gluten free or not, soy. Corn (high fructose corn syrup) is in everything but I don't avoid it in my toothpaste, soaps, meds, etc. yet because it doesn't bother me too much. Stay away from anything with vegetible oil - soy and corn which eliminates all fast food. Stay away from soda, I "heard" have NOT verified, that the...
  14. I haven't been able to add anything back in yet. My docs (3 different ones) all agree that because I have so many intolerances, it is unlikely that I will ever be able to eat these foods again. However, my ears (yes ears) go through phases that last for several years and sometimes I can wear any earings, sometimes I can only wear nickle free, and other...
  15. My hubby tried a jerky gun, he just had to have it, and they didn't like the outcome either and it wasn't any cheaper since you need to buy the expensive hamburger to use it so there it sits, in the pantry - next to something of mine that I just had to have but really haven't use it yet either
  16. I actually keep my own cooler for my ice for my drinks but keep most of my food in a shared cooler - 3 kids plus hubby grubbing through my ice is not something I need to worry about. We buy lots and lots of ice and usually camp for a week or two at a time plus the occasional weekend. Buy ice in the morning and buy more in the evening but we usually (family...
  17. When we go camping, we do a combination - until a couple of years ago, I didn't even use a stove, just cooked over the fire. But, if you are taking a stove, then the sky is the limit, if not, not too big a deal. Eggs, bacon, sausage, veggies, potatoes, hamburgers, meatballs (the kids actual favorite while camping), quick chili, steak, chicken, etc. we...
  18. It really gets so much better, once you eliminate all those nasty foods that have been making you sick. Corn is litterally in EVERYTHING - hopefully you are not too intolerant. I can have some, like my meds, but I try to keep it out of everything else. Like at home I use a sea salt without the anticaking agent (corn derived) so it you have to bang the shaker...
  19. I use the Oil of Olay 15 without any problem - checked the ingredients online and they look fine too. However, I will be switching to a natural/organic type of product once I am done with this bottle. I also have used Eucerine 30 (sp??) without problems - now my youngest uses it to help with his slight eczema on his cheeks. I had to get rid of a bath...
  20. I always do honey and lemon when I have a sore throat and, until now, it has always worked. Thanks for the info on St. Claire's - think I will have to put in an order!!! Looks like I will have to pass on the slippery elm - too much corn. But the St. Claire's looks like I can have CANDY???? Throat is much better now - second day of drugs.
  21. I have just gotten (getting) over one myself - finally went to the doc, thinking they can't do much for me but I got to the point where I couldn't swollow any pills and was having a hard time drinking - aparently I have strep throat!!! My kids have had it, not right now, but I have never had it and I have probably had it for a week before I finally went to...
  22. I asked my son's pediatrition about having that test done and he said it will show if there is an intolerance but not the level of intolerance which is different for each person. He suggested an elimination and test with lactaid pills - we have since done an elimination diet for casein intolerance and he was OK with that, he just needs 3 lactaid ultra pills...
  23. I went by how the food made me feel/affected me. I was fine with peas, didn't really bother me too much until recently and it became obvious enough to not ignore any more. I like peas but it wasn't something I had to have either. I eat a food until my body says no. Also, I cannot have too much of any one type of food too much in a row or I have problems...
  24. Ditto to Lorka - I was able to eat some but not all legumes for a while. I just gave up peas but have been off peanuts for 2 years. I like the cashew butter--can't have the almond butter. Also, watch out for peanut oil - some potato chips use it and all roasted nuts seem to be done in peanut oil. I occasionally find some raw cashews that I can eat but...
