  1. He didn't bring the other stuff up to me. I don't know if it is because I had refused to do a gluten challenge and I felt so much better off the gluten and I think I was off a couple of other things by then too. However, he only did 3 samples with me too - there is someone in the group that was positively dx by Bhandari. I think Ghosh is supposed to be...
  2. Blue rooms are cleaner than picnic tables - BUT you will never catch me sitting on a public toilet in a blue room or not (I saw the thing on cell phones and my hubby used to think I cleaned my obsessively before!).
  3. If I really want an evelope licked, I will ask someone (don't like the sponges) but a guy I work with, won't do it because then his "DNA is out there" OK...
  4. I went to Bhandari, and most of the people the support group here used him too. I went in after already being gluten-free for several months and he warned me that I may not show any damage at this point--he was right. But he discovered how bad my reflux had gotten in the 5 years since I had seen him last. He doesn't have the bes bedside manner but it's not...
  5. I was tested for all that too, after going gluten-free and my doc supported that, except all she said was, great, glad you figured it all out, well thanks. Anyway, they still watch my thyroid occasionally but, I was treated for lyme disease by a dermatologist, even though all the tests came back negative, for 6 months and I got better - I didn't think...
  6. I either use the peel and stick or tape them. If I am going through the drive through at the bank, I lick a finger the go home and wash my hands (while trying not to touch the steering wheel with that finger - I know, paranoid by why chance it?).
  7. Gluten Free For Life Baby - sorry, no easy way out.
  8. My son is ADHD and the teachers pushed for me to talk to his pediatrition about meds (when we moved to a new school right before his 5th grade year, the last school told me NOT to have him tested, I think because they had so many other problems), I avoided it, didn't want him on the meds etc. for a year then finally caved and all his teachers (6th grade had...
  9. Food allergy testing is NOT 100% accurate - the best method is a food diary and elimination diet. Of course, you have already identified it so the hard part is done.
  10. Well, I am in the intolerant group and the longer I was away/off of gluten, the MORE sensitive I became. I used to use my old pots and pans and not worry about changing out the teflon, now I have to keep them completely separate. I have found this is true with my other intolerances too...
  11. My first thought was my hubby and all he can do for me...but we will keep with the topic and I would have to say, homegrown tomatoes, strawberries, and margaritas!!!!
  12. I love Enjoy Life but had to give up their stuff with vanilla - best I can guess, it is derived from corn which is a problem for me, but the rest is fine. However, there are just times when I cannot have too much fiber.
  13. They are out there but don't know which ones since I make my own...I am sure you will get some brands of ones that are safe.

    ARCHIVED Depressed...

I did the same thing with the new foods, I had way too much at first, trying to compensate for not getting "real food" which I don't miss at all now! I had quit smoking the year before and used drugs and they really helped, could not have done this on my own so CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! And ditto, you may want to check out what other foods could be bothering...
  15. I use the Chebe pizza crust with no cheese, just sauce and lots of toppings (gluten-free, DF, SF, CF, etc., etc., etc.). Instead of 2 pieces, I usually eat 4 because the no cheese.
  16. Arrowroot flour is an equal replacement for corn starch so that is what I use (actually my mom used that while we were growing up because she liked the outcome better). However, I am horrible at making gravy and hubby does it for me - mine is truely bad. I can bake, I can cook, I can create, etc but I canNOT make gravy.
  17. What about those of us without social workers?
  18. OK, I hate to get into these debates but, the longer and more often the kid is away from gluten, more and more, and it sounds like at dads house this will be the case, the more sensitive s/he will become and will want to avoid it more and more--on his/her own. After going through an easy divorce only to go through an ugly custody battle 2 years later because...
  19. Katja, my yeast reactions are I pass out, basically, have to go lay down and sleep for 2-4 hours then I am in a fog for a couple of days along with the big D. All yeast does this to me so I can really pinpoint when it is just a food issue like bananas make me cramp but no fog. Oh, and run a low-grade fever. My symptoms were there for years with the fever...
  20. The servers at our CIP are starting to recognize me - pretty scarry since I have only been there a handfull of times!!!!
  21. I deal with this to a lesser degree - my kids do NOT have celiac disease - however, one (just turned 13) has asthma, bad allergies, and is lactose intolerant, the other one (15+) is on anti-depressants and meds for ADHD and has an intolerance to nitrates. Their father does not believe the youngest has asthma or is lactose intolerant and doesn't believe...
  22. My soy reaction is different from my gluten reaction which is different from my yeast reaction. Now I bring up yeast because my yeast reaction is similar to what you are describing. It kind of knocks me out for 2-4 hours (cannot stay awake) then for a day or two afterwards I am in a total fog.
  23. I keep both potato flour and potato starch on hand for cooking. If it calls for flour (which is how I would intrepret that statement), maybe you can substitute a different flour but I wouldn't know which one.
  24. I eat the quick rice with few problems. For some reason though, basmati rice bothers me.
  25. I am getting ready to switch to an IUD myself.
