    ARCHIVED Holidays

I do the same thing - we are planning trips with our three kids and I remember back to what we passed and know that I can't eat at any of those places, we have to plan everything, almost. I would take tons of food, make sure she knows how sick you get with the CC issue--she won't want you to get sick. My dad is finally getting the hint but he has known...
  2. I had a bad experience at my local Friday's and won't go back - however, I have so many foods to avoid, I am amazed when a chain or even any restaurant will actually cook for me - Friday's just isn't one of them.
  3. I don't know about a book but keep on this board - they will help with everything. I have eggs and homemade sausage every day for breakfast, gluten-free cereal with hazlenut milk for my morning snack, dinner leftovers for my lunch, potatoes or egg salad or chebe bread for my afternoon snack, and then dinner - meat, veggies, and starch, then the same for...
  4. Meatloaf Meatballs: 2 lbs. of ground beef about 2T+ crushed garlic (I really LOVE garlic) about 1/2 C. gluten/soy/corn/yeast free bread crumbs 2T dairy free milk cut up bell peppers about 1/2 C+/- cut up sweet onion about 1/2 C+/- 1 egg, 2 if it need to stick together more sea salt pepper Mix together and form into...
  5. I eat at: Chilis O'Charlies Max & Erma's Olive Garden Red Lobster (maybe not the best choice for you though) Cheeseburger in Paradise I call in advance to make sure they will work with me and when I go in, I explain my extreme limitations and don't usually have any problems.
  6. --Grilled anything --Fish with lemon --Chicken salad --Spaghetti --Meatloaf --Meatloaf Meatballs - same recipe, no tomato in the balls, pour a can of diced over the top, half way through cooking --Tabouleah (spelling anyone?) --Deviled Eggs for a side --Potato salad (can you tell I am in a summer foods type of mood--mostly) --Gazpacho --Chicken...
  7. Andrea, thanks for the birthday wish - I had a nice quiet 40th birthday - just what I wanted and will spend the rest of the weekend relaxing and continuing my birthday. I finally figured out my newest problem - it was the ground beef I have been using for over a year. Something must have changed recently so I will chat with the meat cutters where I get...
  8. I had no blood work but the biopsy was negative. I had been *mostly* wheat free for about 1-2 years but had completly eliminated it about 3 months before the biopsy - no damage found. I refused to go back on gluten because of the positive dietary response. As to symptoms, I had most and many more including joint pain but I picked tummy troubles because...
  9. I still go through periods when I obsess about everything. My hubby dropped a food storage container on the floor and was going to still use it without wiping it out or anything, he ended up throwing it into the sink and getting fresh. I was trying to find out what new thing was making me so sick and having to live on imodium for a month and there he goes...
  10. It is now also on CNN too: Open Original Shared Link
  11. Tiffany, I would like your recipe - I want to start making my own and planted a bunch of roma tomato plants this spring with that in mind.
  12. I cannot have chickpeas, soy, and just figured out peas. I can eat green beans but have been afraid to try any other beans, which really isn't that hard for me since I rarely ate them before - only the chickpeas for humus. I sometimes miss them in chili but do without fine.
  13. I had my first one at 36 (I will be 40 on Thursday), 3 polyps removed, one was pre-cancerous so I am supposed to go back every 3 years, I am chosing every 5 because that isn't something I want to repeat that often for now. My dad has polyps, some pre-cancerous, and my paternal grandfather had colon cancer. I don't remember my sizes but I don't think he said...
  14. Tailgaiting - I agree. I haven't been tailgating in 2 years because, you can't just help yourself to a burger or ribs from the grill, grab a beer from the cooler, and sit and chat. I go to games by myself because hubby is always working the games and try to find friends there. Well, it just doesn't work like that any more. It lost its fun...
  15. Congratulations!!!! That is a big step for a lot of us.
  16. Thanks for the name - the pics from the search are it!!! I have started to use a steroid cream when they pop up and it seems to help. Open Original Shared Link This site also says it can cause fingers and toes to crack. Well, that explains something else! And, I am treating it right.
  17. I burp a lot when I have eaten something that bothers me - I am guessing it is the extra gas in my system but, really, who knows. I just know it happens with me. Once I figure out the trigger and avoid it, I don't burp.
  18. OK, thank GOD - I have some rice tortillas in my fridge with xanthum gum that I have been a little afraid to eat. USUALLY, I am the one to research stuff before passing it along but have been so busy at work I haven't had time and I don't usually computer at home since I am on so much at work. Anyway, glad you fixed that so nobody else will have that misconception...
  19. OK, I read, on this forum, that xanthum gum, something in salt - I cannot find the thread right now but it was on corn (in most salts - I found one sea salt, that tastes INCREDIBLE that does not have it), and some citric acid is derived from corn--most citric acid is derived from a mold. I really expected that to be a problem but it isn't. Also, that the...
  20. I should have mentioned in my post - I would definity take my own food to suppliment, just in case. Cereal, milk, snacks, etc. and real food in a cooler.

    ARCHIVED Symptoms

For gluten, with me, I start with some light gas about 2-4 hours later (say I have something at dinner time), then about 6-8 hours later, horrible, horrible, cramping and D until there isn't anything left in my system. Then I take my Imodium and anti spasm meds for my colon. Then for about another 3 days, I am on meds until I can wake up without cramping...
  22. That is kind of what I thought, after I saw this thread and it explains why I ended up sick over the weekend camping. I had forgotten!!! Stupid mistakes are going to be what kill me...
  23. I would ask to confirm her ingredients and her care with the preparation - however, I do tend to draw attention. I have gotten over that because I just don't want to get sick anymore. She is planning this and she said she wants to make sure you can eat...she won't want you to get sick and have a miserable time. I would ask... When I went to my boss...
  24. I haven't see GFL locally so didn't know it existed BUT that said, Living Without has soooo many other food issues it covers, it works great for people like me with mulitple food intolerances. Now, if they would only come up with a decent brownie receipe gluten-free, DF, CF, SF, etc., etc, etc. I just starte my script and now don't have to rush out to...
  25. Great - what about stryofoam? I know the bad stuff about the environment, but sometimes when camping, it is just easier. Corn, gluten, soy? Are they really safe when they get hot for those of use with multiple food intolerances? Maybe I get my own plate and everyone else uses disposable--we have to wash the pots anyway.
