  1. thanks everyone I found at the beginning, he needed to eliminate milk products. Took about 3 months. We've also discovered that pop and other high sulfite foods give him problems. Apple Cider, grape juice and apple juice--EEKS! We never were big soda drinkers except when we went out for our weekly restaurant splurge. We still go out once a week...
  2. It's been one year of being gluten-free and I know that in the beginning, me and my son couldn't eat anything with milk. I still cannot have a glass of milk, but can do "curded" milk products, like kefir, yogurt, cheese and cottage cheese. And too much of corn based products caused me the same problem as gluten. And my favorite food of all time is Frito...
  3. Both my teens eat yogurt and drinkable yogurt--we were spending a small fortune on Brown Cow and Wallaby, but just discovered that Dannon doesn't have high fructose corn syrup and they like them better--way easier on the wallet. I personally prefer kefir--it has way more good cultures than even yogurt. You can find many brands at Whole Foods or my local...
  4. It's been one year since God changed our lives with the gluten free message and my son's report card relects his new personality (or should I say his old personality that was lost??) Last year his 7th grade year was full of tears and his teachers had already pegged him as a trouble maker and no matter what he did he couldn't bring some of his grades...
  5. With my 10 # order of Better Batter, I also ordered the brownie mix and pancake/"Bisquick" mix. Absolutely loved the brownies, better than those made with Gluten Free Mama's Almond Flour and other ready made brownies. Truly tasted and had consistency of regular brownies. I bought their baking mix because I always try different brands of pancake mixes...
  6. For those of you out there who refuse to pay the shipping or can't find the product around here. Here is a great copycat of Against The Grain Gourmet. Check out this link, from the baking section on this forum, for a recipe that is really, really easy and tasty. Makes great rolls. https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?showtopic=60125 And...
  7. I used Clabber girl. Made them again this morning in a regular muffin pan and they puffed right up. Will be buying myself the muffin top pan because I intend on making these A Lot! Both "men folk", (DS14 and DH) came home yesterday telling me how great the bread was in their lunches--just sliced in two and made sandwiches with the rolls. Mind you...
  8. made these last night. mine did not puff up as much as yours did in the picture, but they were decent. Followed your directions to the T. Maybe I need to grind the mozz more? I used finely shredded, left out to warm a little, straight from the bag. Do I need to grind more in a processor? I will definitely try again--I haven't tried the real thing...
  9. For the rare glutening, we use L-glutamine, which can be found in pill or powder usually at your local rite-aid, gnc. Works better than immodium.
  10. Ditto
  11. Glee gum is good old fashioned gum. It just loses its bounce compared to the current gums on the market. The tangerine flavored is really good. Whole Foods carries it. I looked up Peelu--never tried it, but it doesn't seem to have any of the ingredients that are bad for you.
  12. I've been so anxious to try the Against the Grain crust that I've given two of my current brand away so that my pantry would be bare. Found out that one of the orchestra teachers needed to be gluten-free. "Here, try this pizza!" One of my DD's friends came to the house after homecoming, "Here take these shells to your sister!" You know you want...
  13. We've been trying to stay from the high fructose corn syrups and just discovered that Nesquick syrup is made from sugar. Still not good for you, but better than the Hershey's as far as the high fructose.
  14. Just be careful, you don't want to overload your dd's body with other grains and then she could have problems with those, too. Try eating more whole foods. If she's not into veggies right now, it could be that gluten has made veggies taste bad to her. Within several months of being gluten-free, my starch girl who absolutely hated anything green now...
  15. Considering I've just eaten about 1/2 of a bag over the course of the last three days--the answer, for me, is no. And that's why I just hate Halloween. All of these deals on candy. Aargh!
  16. here in our neck of the woods, we make a similar dish, but use bread cubes instead of noodles.
  17. Schar's bread is decent; on their site you can put in your state and it will give locations of who carries it.
  18. We've been eating Kinnikinnick choc wafers for about a year and they WERE the closest to oreos that we could find--but they just weren't double stuffed. These have just enough icing and truly taste like Oreos. Really Good And you get a few more ounces in each box. We've had success with all of glutino's products. What a fantastic company.
  19. I like Schars brand of pastas. I made both DeBole's and Schars the other night and the Schars looked like regular pasta and tasted like it, too.
  20. Have all of you been okay with the Udi's? I remember posts from about a month or so ago where there was some question as to the cross contamination. I would love to try, but was afraid after all of those posts. My DD is still looking for that perfect Wonder Bread. Would the Udi's be similar? She likes Schar's for the occasional grilled cheese, but...
  21. I just found it two days ago! Open Original Shared Link Light fluffy. I haven't been eating sandwiches for a whole year and today I ate the whole thing without picking off the bread! It was so exciting!! No heavy flavor or texture. I heard Against the Grain was good, too, but I haven't received my order yet from my buying club.
  22. I found this very easy recipe that you can basically make in a couple of minutes. And if you add 2 T. raspberry liqueur mixed with 2T H20, 3 T sugar and 1 C of raspberries, you have a pretty good copycat of P F Changs Fudge dome. Flourless Fudge Cookies 2 1/4 cups confectioners' sugar 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon espresso powder...
  23. Somebody mentioned these the other day on a thread and I thought I'd check them out. They are in the baby section at Wal-mart. Not a bad price--less than $3 Not bad for a tasteless cracker--which is what my teens prefer. We put cream cheese and swiss on them and they tasted like the cheese not the cracker. Somewhat dry, but we now have another cracker...
  24. You know the thing I absolutely hate about H1N1 is how close it mimics all the symptoms of how celiac affects my kids. I think both my teens have come down with it, but of course, the 1st question I asked each of them was, "What did you eat? Did you get into something you shouldn't have?" Both were sick for about a week and seem to be better,...
