ARCHIVED For Those Not So Sensitive Celiacs
Roda replied to Roda's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree whole heartedly about not consuming gluten even if you don't have many outward signs. My biopsy showed partial villious atrophy, so even though my symptoms were minor compared to others, I know it is causing damage. I guess it just goes to show that you can never get too comfortable and let your guard down! -
I lost 10lbs in the month before my biopsy. After I went gluten free in the end of Oct. '08, I also went on a binge on trying the gluten free stuff. I was baking so much that I gained back the 10lbs I lost. Now things have lost their novelty and am more cosistent and make healthier choices. I still bake but now it's more of a treat. I also started vitamin...

I don't know if it is a blessing or a curse to not be an over sensitive celiac. If it had not been for the unexplained anemia, I probably would not have even considered celiac. On the one hand, at least minor amounts of gluten don't bother me, but I wonder if it "adds up". I'm usually very careful. At least if I had symptoms I would definately know what...

I take 50,000 iu of vitamin D once a week also. It is a gel cap and I take it in the morning. I have not noticed any side effects from it except after about a month on it I started to feel great!!! I thought going gluten free made me feel better, but the vitamin D was the thing that has given me a lot back. I have a lot of energy now and have energy... -
I am not giving any medical advice but I am just curious, was your percutaneous bx performed by your regular doctor or by a radiologist specialized in doing these procedures? I ask because I have assisted radiologists with percutaneous bx before under computed tomography(CT). We take images of the area of intrest to biopsy and the radiologist selects the...

My feeling is much like the rest of the posters. My bigest concern is that the government should not have to pay for such a notion just so you can achieve an objective. I don't believe the "government" owes you anything. -
ARCHIVED Can't Stop Binging On Gluten!
Roda replied to Rachel Keating's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
You definately need to follow the diet and probably need labs to see if you have any deficiencies from damage done while you are eating gluten. You could try and find something else to focus on. There are a lot of support groups out there maybe you can find one and get some ideas on how to cope and eat. There are a lot of good things to eat and with a... -
ARCHIVED Husband Trying To Quit Smoking
Roda replied to Roda's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Well we kissed and made up. I saw him this morning and everything is ok. I guess I can look at the positives: with him not smoking regular cigs he does not stink anymore, with his e-cigarrette the nicotine stuff comes in a variety of flavors, so I never know what I get to smell and taste, and the flavors are gluten free to boot! -
ARCHIVED Husband Trying To Quit Smoking

Mushroom: I did not in any way take your post as negative. I appreciate everyone sharing their experiences. Maybe it will help me understand better. On the flip side though when he was having so many of his other health issues, he got depressed. I was very patient with him, but I had to finally (finally spelled it right) call him out on the problem... -
I know post was started awhile ago but I found some info on the allegro marinade. It is my husbands favorite marinade for london broil. I went to their website and if you click on the individual products it lists the ingredients and at the end of all the marinades it says gluten free. The original bbq and spicey bbq sauce does not list gluten free though...

ARCHIVED Husband Trying To Quit Smoking
Roda replied to Roda's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I know it is hard for him. And I have been very supportive of him in his past endevors and now. He asks for my thoughts and I am a person who does not sugar coat things (he is aware of this character flaw). We have been through so much together in the past 3.5 years that if I was not a supportive spouse we would be having marriage problems now. He has... -
My husband has been a smoker since he was 16 and before we lived together he was in a house where his parents smoked all of his life. He has decided that he wants to quit smoking. I want to be supportive but I have witnessed his attempts to quit smoking for over eight years now. He has chronic sinus problems that finely got bad enought that he had sinus...

I made this salad this evening and am anxiouslly awaiting to try it after it has chilled. I did taste it warm and it had a good flavor. Well I did not ever find out if the generic lortab was gluten free. I got desparate for sleep and took one that same night. I took another one before bed thursday night and neither time did not seem to have any issues out of them. Mostly I have been sticking to ibuprofen. Thanks for the info. -

Just looked on their website and does not state anything, just starch as an inactive ingredient. I tried the customer support and of course at 10:30 pm est. there is no answer. I will try to call them in the morning. If I get painful enough tonight, I think I will just take my chances. -
ARCHIVED Was In Car Wreck
Roda posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Unfortunately I was involved in a mva this evening. The other car ran a red light and hit me broad side. I ended up going to the hospital just to make sure everything was ok. The left side of my neck hurt and was swelling. I went because I have experienced people who, after a car accident, are walking around with a fracture in their neck. Anyway, nothing... -

I am 5' 7" and my husband is 6'. However there are enough "short" people on both sides of the family that he might just be on the shorter side. My Dad is 5" 11" and my brother is only 5" 10". Some short genes in mom's family and my husbands. He has two uncles that are brothers. One is over 6' 3" and the other is like maybe 5' 8-10". It is funny seeing... -
ARCHIVED Prolonged Intestinal Transit Time...
Roda replied to wschmucks's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you really want to know about your bowel transit time you could ask about a bowel transit study x-ray. You have to swallow a capsule that has radiopaque markers in it and after so many days they take an x-ray of your abdomen and count how many of the markers are in the colon. The results are based on how many if any are left in the colon. You do have... -

quote name='Lk's mommy' date='Mar 3 2009, 11:36 PM' post='515196'] I have a six year old son. As an infant, he didn't seem to tolerate traditional formula well because he was always constipated and gassy so we put him on soy formula. When he was a year old, we introduced him to whole milk. Immediately he began to have diarhhea. His Dr.'s advice was to... -
If you navigate theis person's website it really gets more disturbing. It is unfortunate that people can believe this bunk especially when they are at their most vulnerable. Thank goodness for places like this that can help educate and inform.

I stumbled across this website researching gluten intolerance, celiac disease and seasonal allergies. I take a more scientific approach to things, but I don't discount natural healing either. I was a bit disturbed by the information in this article about celiac however. Open Original Shared Link "Can Gluten Intolerance, Wheat, and Celiac Disease...
