  1. I think I am going to borrow some egg replacer from another friend of mine to try it. I don't have a problem with eggs, so I don't want to buy a whole box of it. I microwaved it for 4 1/2 minutes, so just triple the original cooking time. I liked it so much I have eaten three sandwiches today. My hips will thank me later.
  2. Yes that is alot of vitamin D but my level was only 17 back in Jan. There are several others on here (from reading other threads) that are taking this dose also. I also had a blood test to check on my vitamin D levels to see if I need to continue the high dose. If not I am going to ask her how much a day I can take to maintain my levels. Most of the people...
  3. I was wondering if anyone has had their calcium and parathyroid checked? My endocrinologist ordered these lab tests. She never mentioned to me that she thought there was any problem. I did some basic reading on it and I believe she is checking it because I am on prescription vitamin D of 50,000 iu once a week. Anybody else that is taking high dose of...
  4. I don't watch that show, but my mom does and she mentioned it to me. I'm glad that my mom is so supportive of me!
  5. I was a little skepticle about trying this. But I gave in and went to the grocery store and bought the brown rice flour and golden flax meal. I could not find almond meal so I just went to the baking isle and got two small packages of unsalted almonds and put them in the food processer and bingo I had almond meal. It probably works out to be cheeper in...
  6. I too miss granola. I discovered this and it is really good in yogurt. I don't have any other intolerences that I know of at this time, but maybe you can find a different type of yogurt. This is really tasty and gives me the crunch I'm looking for. And it's made from buckwheat which is really good for you. Open Original Shared Link
  7. Here is a link to the previous thread https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?showtopic=31671 I have not eaten the mini eggs but I did eat a three pack of the regular size ones all in one day. I was a glutton and no gluten problem for me!
  8. Well I made it to the endocrinologist today. She is decreasing my levothyroxine to 112 mcg and I am going to stay on my current dose of 5 mcg of cytomel twice a day. So I guess in about 4-6 weeks I'll see how I feel. She always orders blood tests on me every time I go. She did not need to repeat the thyroid tests since I just had that last week. I went...
  9. I'm glad you are feeling better. I have been supplementing with 50,000 iu of vitamin D since January. About 3-4 weeks after I was a whole different person. It was like a wonder drug. I just had some lab work done today so I am curious to see how my vitamin D level looks. The doc said I still may need to take the prescription for awhile yet.
  10. The doctor wrote an order last November for a celiac pannel for both of my boys. I took them in to work and had their blood drawn. I figured since he ordered a "celiac pannel" we would have gotten the gliadin antibody test, total iga, and ttg at least. The only two things that the lab performed was the total iga and the iga ttg. So they did not get the...
  11. I was just curious if you noticed any improvements in your daughters allergy symptoms? My son is allergic to dustmites, cockroaches, ragweed, hemp, lambsquarter, and a few more weeds that I can't recall at this time. He is very much acting like he did before his allergies were diagnosed and am either wondering if he has developed additional ones since,...
  12. I have read mixed points of view on the genetic testing for celiac. I understand that if you have the genetic markers it does not mean you will develop the disease, but what if you don't have any of the markers? I know it can't rule in celiac, but can it rule it out? I am not willing to pay out of pocket for myself for it, because it will not change my...
  13. My boys have always got tonsillitis or sinus infections from strep. My youngest was the one with mrsa in his tonsils and we were told that it does not infect there as often as the skin. The oldest has had impetigo on his face and in his nose which on culture was just regular staph. My husband did get a really nasty eye infection that was both strep and...
  14. I personally have not had any trouble with the gluten free great value products that I know of. Then again I can eat quaker rice cakes and have no problems, while others who are extremely sensitive to cross contamination can not. I have been glutened twice that I am certain of and it took alot of what I was eating to have symptoms. I get bad heartburn...
  15. I made this recipe that Ipellegr posted in another topic. It was good but I suggest using fresh lemon juice. The bottled was just to acidic and I had to add some sugar to tone it down. Does anyone else have any recipes for millet? Also I have come to the conclusion that any recipe calling for couscous, millet would be a good substitute. My husband actually...
  16. I don't know if there is a link to stains and celiac, but I do believe enamal problems and cavities can go along with it. Do you drink coffee, tea or soda? The first two can stain your teeth. Soda has got to be one of the worse things for your teeth. The acid in the soda can wear down the enamal. I have a yellowish tint always to my teeth despite how...
  17. What swalker said is true. Was he symptomatic? Because my boys had it so much I had all of us tested for strep when we were all well. None of us were carriers. I did have one instance where the rapid strep test was wrong. When my youngest was around 2 1/2 he and his brother got strep. This was confirmed by the rapid strep test in the dr. office. When...
  18. My mother in law is supportive in the sense she believes that I have a disease. Otherwise she cracks fun at some of the stuff I eat. I don't care though. We have been to visit once since diagnosed and she was really good about everthing. I did get cross-contaminated but it was my own stupid fault. I ate some coconut macaroons that I did not check on...
  19. Is he or any of your other kids in daycare or are they at home? It is quite common for kids that are not around alot of other people and kids to be quite healthy and after they start daycare or school to come down with everything. It is just where they were not exposed and now their immune systems are finding all kinds of new things. Both my boys have...
  20. I ate a three pack all in one day and had no problem except being "full" from being a gluttun.
  21. It would be great on onion rings. I hadn't even thought of that. I mixed up the batter yesterday and only actually made 1/2 of it into batter, so I froze the rest of the dry ing. When I'm having one of of those days where I want "comfort food" I'll make them. Yum!
  22. This sucks because I tolerate quaker rice cakes just fine. I have not been eating them as often since I discovered corn thins. They make a really good sandwich! My kids like them so they will still be able to eat them just not me. I've heard mixed reviews on the lundburg ones. What I don't like is that they are alot more expensive and 1/2 as thick...
  23. Here is an email I recieved from them recently. There are some additional products listed on this one some I did not know. March 23, 2009 Dear Rhonda, Thank you for your interest in Heinz Products. We certainly understand how difficult it can be to find foods that meet the requirements of a restricted diet. As you requested, the following...
  24. I had very vague gi symptoms with only heartburn/acid reflux. I have had problems with constipation and bloating all my life and just thought it was normal for me. My main problem was iron deficiency anemia, low ferritin, and fatigue all the time. Was told the anemia was from heavy periods (which were not) and that I work full time and have two kids. ...
  25. I was craving corndogs lateley since my husband and kids have been eating the State Fair corndogs. Needless to say I was jelous. I searched this site and found this recipe that Grump1 originally posted. However I did not to want to make a pile so I cut the recipe down and the resulting batter will do approx. two packages of hotdogs. Just enough for...
