ARCHIVED Generic Brand Of Cytomel
Roda posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I take cytomel in addition to my levothyroxine. I just recieved my next 90 day refill and to my suprise it was generic. I learned that the patent ran out and now generics can be produced. I checked the manufacture's webside (Paddock Laboratory) and found all the ingredients and all seemed to be fine, but I wanted to be double sure so I sent the company... -

ARCHIVED Failed Methacholine Challenge Test
Roda replied to Roda's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
No he isn't gluten free. The ped and allergist don't think there is a problem since his ttg was 2 and at this point he is not having gi problems. He did have a history of constipation as a baby up until around 3 1/2 years old where we went thru a lot of mineral oil, apple juice, fleets enemas, gastrografin enema x-rays, and miralax. The only thing that... -
ARCHIVED Negative, But I Say Positive!
Roda replied to LaMich's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Here are some links to maltodextrin and tums. Maltodextrin in the US should be gluten free and Tums states that all but two of their products are gluten free. Of course you personally could still be sensitive. Hope this helps! It does get easier, but even 8 months into it I'm still making mistakes. https://www.celiac.com/articles/182/1/Unsaf...ents... -
ARCHIVED Failed Methacholine Challenge Test
Roda replied to Roda's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I do think that it stems from his allergies. They also felt since he has been on the singulair for about three years (with the exception to do the test) that it helped keep things alright. At least he only has to do the one medication during soccer and if necessary we now have the inhaler. -
ARCHIVED Failed Methacholine Challenge Test
Roda replied to Roda's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I am glad to know about it and we will deal with/treat it accordingly. The specialist is very good and I trust him. They did wonders for my youngest. I have been less than informed over the first two years and it finaly came to pass that I called them out on everything and told them that I felt there were things that needed addressed with me that were... -
ARCHIVED Crazy Itchy Swollen
Roda replied to DDD's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Could you have a wheat or other gluten allergy instead of celiac? The throat swelling and hives sound like an allergic reaction. -
ARCHIVED Government Programs And Financial Aide
Roda replied to TearzaRose's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If your employer and you participate in the FSA you can claim for reimbursement the difference you pay for gluten free food vs normal food. The government says that you can do it but it is up to the employer's plan as to if you can claim. I looked into it since I participate in the medical and childcare FSA and my plan won't let me claim the difference... -
I'll appoligize ahead of time if this gets too lengthy. I took my 8 1/2 year old for a methacholine challenge test today (at my request) because I have been disputing his diagnosis of asthma for over a year now. A brief hx of my child: -Healthy until appx 3 years old after starting daycare -choronic strep tonsillitis until 4 years of age when he had...

I was diagnosed with celiac the end of Oct. 2008. I had very vague gi issues mostly bad persistant heartburn and constipation which at the time I thought was just normal and anemia. I have been gluten free since then with the exception of a couple of mishaps. I also recently tried gluten free oats in some cookies and can not tolerate those either. They...

How did the doctor treat the RSD? I was watching something and heard that hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been shown to help break the pain cycle. I am wondering how and from whom I could find more information on this even though his problem is not in his extremities. Still valid, it is a chronic pain problem.

ARCHIVED Habba Syndrome As Well As Celiac Disease?
Roda replied to Noel1965's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't have any issues with this but I did hear about it on Discovery Health Mystery Diagnosis and found it interesting. I know alot of people on here are still having problems after going gluten free. I suspect it could coexist. I wonder how many people have have been misdiagnosed with ibs or had their intact gallbladders removed when medication could... -
ARCHIVED Is The Amount Of Gluten Consumed Proportionate To Reaction?
Roda replied to foodiegurl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I recently tried gluten free oats and discovered at this time I can not tolerate them. The first day I ate appx 8 cookies(an oatmeal type cookie), and I admit I was a little piggish, they were one right after another. With in 1/2 hr I started having sour burps and gurgling in my tummy. I was not sure if it was the cookies so the next day I ate two and... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Camping Foods!
Roda replied to JillianLindsay's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
All gluten free of course but: pork and beans, hotdogs, instant rice, lunchmeat/cheese, eggs, corned beef hash, potatoes, jerkey, canned soup, dried fruit, nuts etc. the list is endless. It really comes down to how you are going to camp ie camper/tent/primative, and if you have a cooler or not. My family and I just went on a two night camping trip.... -
I can truthfully say that this was the only thing I was complaining about. He generally does a good job. I do have to admit sometimes I can get onto something and he just has to come out and tell me to be quiet about it. I guess we all need our checkes and balances. Thanks everyone for the insight and help. It is greatly appreciated.

I probably will be going to once a month too. I still have refills left and talk about cost effective! I hope it works for you.

I would just ask your doctor. I started to feel better about a month after taking my prescription I couldn't believe the difference. I am not against D3 it just happens that the doctor prescribed the D2 (at the time I did not know the difference and since have looked into it). In looking into it majority of research does agree that D3 is better than D...

ARCHIVED Before Dx Did You Have More C Or D
Roda replied to mindyandy420's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Definately constipation. My mom told me that I even had severe problems with it as a baby and child. As an adult (I find this funny now) I would eat shredded wheat and triscuts and it would help the constipation. -
ARCHIVED Going To The Allergist
Roda replied to mom2my3girls's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Any time my boys get any type of allergy testing they cannot have any antihistimines for 7 days before testing. My youngest was 14 months old when he had his first allergy testing and it was repeated at 3 1/2 years old. My other son was 6 when he had allergy testing. So I don't know if her age makes a difference, but I would check it out. If they have... -
The Fluffy Assassin-- Yes my boys have been tested and were negative. I had them tested Nov. 08 when the youngest was almost 4 and the oldest was going on 8. Their ttg was 1 and 2 respectively ref. range >20 positive. I did think at one point the oldest was at least gluten intolerent, but for now I have rethought this. He is doing good and I believe...

ARCHIVED Our First Gluten Free Vacation
Roda replied to Amyleigh0007's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I make a yearly trip from TN to PA and back and I bring back frozen stuff in a cooler all the time. Our car trip usually last around 11 hrs one way. Just make sure that it is very frozen, pack it in the bottom of the cooler and place lots of icepacks, bags of ice or as the other poster stated dry ice and it should make the trip. I am usually bringing back... -
ARCHIVED Bionaturae Organic Gluten Free Pasta
Roda posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I recently saw this at our local health food store and decided to try it. I have tried Tinkyada, Deboyles, and Ancient Harvest and have not been too impressed, so I was not going to get my hopes up on this one. Well I cooked some tonight and it was really good the best I have tried yet. The only suggestion I have is to cut the amount of salt it calls for... -
We can disagree all day long and that is alright. I'm not here to change anybodys mind or give advice. I'm simply giving my exerience. For me the prescription dose has worked and for others it has too. I'm not disputing the D3 as it has a very proven track record, but this study imho warrents further investigation into the effectiveness of the D2.

ARCHIVED Do I Need To Have The Biopsy Done?
Roda replied to pinksmashing's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you are unsure about your doctor maybe find another one and discuss the testing with them. I know it can be frustrating when you don't feel good. I have hashimotos too and the other poster is correct that they occur together frequently. My endocrinologist told me that after I pursued testing. I finaly asked for the blood work after two years of unexplained... -
Have you had any diagnostic test to see what is going on such as an upper gi series or an egd? Even if your blood work for celiac is "normal" there can be false negatives. You could have something else going on too. If you were going to have the egd to look for other things have them do the biopsy for celiac while they are there. I hope you can get to...
