ARCHIVED Can Someone Please Help Me?...no One Will Listen!
Roda replied to Lilymylove's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
When you mean that your parents won't listen to you do you mean both your mom and dad? I notice you said they were divorced and you don't see him often. Could you take the information that you found out about your grandfather and ask if your father can get you an appointment to get tested? You and your dad can request this it doen't only have to be your... -
I weighed in Friday and I lost 7lbs. I can tell that I'm loosing my shelf on my back side. I will begin phase two this Fri or Sat. I have found a great site for low carb gluten free stuff (mostly deserts) and found an english muffin recipe and a wrap recipe. Here is the link. ARCHIVED Celiac And Gerd
Roda replied to Crash69's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My main gi complaint before diagnosis was horrible heart burn. At one point I had to sleep elevated because it was coming all the way to the back of my throat. I would even get it bad after drinking water. My pcp at the time just wanted to throw pills at me and when I refused he seemed taken aback. I did have an UGI series done that showed nothing. I... -
ARCHIVED Would You Worry About Cross Contamination With Marijuana?
Roda replied to lorka150's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I know that an allergy to marijuana is supposed to be not very common, but I was wondering if you have an allergy to hemp would you be allergic to marijuana? My son who is now 8 had a positive allergy test to hemp along with other weeds 2 1/2 years ago. If, when he gets much much older, and was to try it, would there be a chance he would be allergic? I... -
You canned using the water bath method. What sort of things did you can? Some things should only be done in a pressure canner. Last year, before I was diagnosed I put up, applesauce, peaches and pears. I have eaten them since being diagnosed and have not noticed any problems. I always make sure my working area is extremely clean before canning anything...

Both oral contrast agents are good for ct scans. I believe redicat does have an unflavored one it just depends on what the radiology department has. Unless you have a sensitivity or allergy to the additives/flavorings the flavored ones should be alright. You can always call ahead and ask. We use the water soluable (gastroview) on our emergency patinets...

That was a good article. I feel my pcp, whom I have only seen once since Dec. 2006 and after 10 months diagnosed, would not buy into it. Probably not all his fault, its just that for generations people have been told that it is good for you. Hopefully articles and more studies like this will change the way we (as a population) view what we eat. I definately...

It has been about 11 months since I went gluten free and the first few were a big learning curve. I had been experimenting with a lot of gluten free baking and have done rather well with the things I've tried. Now I go and decide to do this so the baking is out for now. I would like to do some baking once I hit phase three and really would like to use...

I thought I would pick up this thread again. I finaly became discusted with myself and decided I needed to loose weight. My parents are doing the south beach diet and are now in phase 2 and have had good results. Thus it motivated me. I want to loose about 20-30 lbs. I am just going on day four in phase one. So far it has not been that hard. The challange...

ARCHIVED Better gluten-free Corndog Recipe?
Roda replied to HeartofGlass224's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Here is a link to a recipe I make all the time. I am the only one in my house that is gluten free and my two boys (age 4 & 8) and husband love them too. https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.ph...c=56619&hl= -
Found out I was slightly anemic Dec. 06 after having crazy symptoms since that Feb. Heart racing, light headedness, fatigue and shortness of breath. I was given iron pills to take and was told it was most likely due to blood loss from having periods. Went appx. another 1.5 years (the hemoglobin and hematocrit were fine at this point) but still having...

ARCHIVED Tales Of My Stupidity
Roda replied to MDRB's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Depending on your severity you will probably feel some kind of effect but I don't think you undid the whole year of being gluten free over one accident. Whether it is gluten or something else, we all have probably been there, done that and bought the tee shirt. -
I really hope this does not come across as seeming insensitive, rather it is meant out of concern for you. Maybe you should talk to someone a counsler or such to deal with all of your feelings. You don't seem to be in a very happy place right now.

Just because you have one doesn't mean you'll have the other. However that said, autoimmune diseases do tend to go together. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's in 2000 after two miscarriages. I didn't have any problems until Feb. 2006. I started with a racing heartbeat, hair falling out and extreme fatigue. Then I started with heartburn. Several (I mean...

Just a thought. Could you be experiencing problems with too much excretion of bile into the small intestines? There are medications (bile acid binding agents) that can help control the diarrhea. Have they done any test to see if you have any problem with the biliary system(excluding the gallbladder since you had it removed) like an ERCP or MRCP? here...

ARCHIVED Some Of The Test Results Are Back.
Roda replied to Roda's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I don't know how frequently I should have him screened. We were having some isolated behavior problems and thought that this could be it. He only had a total IgA and tTG last Nov. so I asked his allergist to run all of the tests this time to cover all the bases. His tTG last Nov was 2. I can completly relate to the awareness bordering on paranoia. Not... -
ARCHIVED Some Of The Test Results Are Back.
Roda replied to Roda's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
He is just over 8 1/2 years old. He isn't having any symptoms to indicate a biopsy. He did not have the EMA done because the reference lab would not do it unless the tTG was positive. I had another post about that asking the importance of having it too with the other tests, but noone here would reply. So I did the labs where my insurance would pay. I... -
ARCHIVED Some Of The Test Results Are Back.
Roda posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well, at least for now I feel that I can give the celiac a rest for my oldest ds and we will continue to monitor him. I really think that everything is related to not feeling well with his sesonal allergies and his susceptibility to strep. Here are his results: Gliadin IgA AB-- 4 unit (19 units or less ...Negative) Gliadin IgG AB-- 1 unit (19 units... -
ARCHIVED Car/motion Sickness Vs. A "glutening"
Roda replied to elle's mom's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My youngest child has a tendency to get carsick, but it is hit or miss. We drive over the mountains on a very curvy road to go to my MIL house and he usually will get sick either on the way there or on the way home. He even has made the trip without getting sick. It seems to be worse when he is too warm and going up and down hills and on curvy roads at... -

ARCHIVED Question About Ema Test
Roda posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
How important is it to have the EMA done? I have a lab order for my child for a tTG, gliadin antibody, IgA & IgG, endomysial antibody (EMA) screen and reticulin IgA autoantibodies. Would the others be sufficient without it? The lab will only reflex to the EMA if the tTG is positive. I know this is similar to another of my posts but no one answered... -
I was searching for recipes on the internet and came across this. (I was in a food slump ) I have made it twice with various toppings and it is soooo good. I would rather eat this than those crappy ol gluten free pizza crusts homemade or otherwise. I was really suprised at how filling it was. Happy eats! Open Original Shared Link

Any type of pain killer or anethetic almost works to good for me. I don't take even tylenol or ibuprofen much so when I had a car acdident the lortab 5 they gave me really packed a punch. When I have dental anethesia one shot will numb me from the top of my head down past my collar bone. Ugg didn't like that much. My throat was numb too (only 1/2). So...

ARCHIVED Having Oldest Son Retested
Roda replied to Roda's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I would like to give it a fair go if I can get my husband on board. He has a problem doing it if all his tests come back "normal". We tried him on it for a week last spring, but it didn't last since hubby did not think it necessary. I didn't notice any difference, but one week was not enough. Need to give it a good month. The specialist on Tuesday said... -
ARCHIVED Having Oldest Son Retested
Roda replied to Roda's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I only have two boys. I am only having the oldest rescreened because he is the one I am having problems with. There does not seem to be issues with the youngest one at this time. I will probably have the entire sreen done again on the litle one at his 5 year check up which is coming up soon. The oldest is having alot of allergy flare ups and some behavior...
