  1. I was wondering if anyone has taken grapefruit seed extract (gse)? I heard it is good for yeast. I have just started taking 10 drops in water three times a day. Boy is it yucky.
  2. Before diagnosis I couln't tolerate the ferrous sulfate or a rx cromagen. I had horrible acid reflux. I just started taking slow fe brand back in August. I was skepticle because of my other reactions. The good news is that I am tolerating it fine now that I'm gluten free. I just hope it works. My ferritin was 11 in April and that is the highest its...
  3. I was surfing the local Big Lots and ran across these on sale for $.50 a package. Pretty good deal for a quick lunch. They had various flavors.
  4. Well I made a carrot cake with the suggestions at the end of the first posted recipe. I used cannellini beans (canned) and used cinamon, alspice, nutmeg and cloves. Boy did it turn out yummy! I liked it better than the chocolate. I definatly will make the carrot cake again.
  5. I really was not sure where to post this. I was wondering if it is possible to get yeast infections from one's partner (in my case my husband)? My gynecologist at one time said that in women with recurrent yeast infections their partners should get treated. At that time (many years ago) the Pa my husband sees (I don't like him) said that it was completely...
  6. For me some things are just what they are. I accept the fact that I can't and probably will never eat at certain places again. Oh well, life goes on.
  7. Could you make a list of things that she is allowed to have for them to reference? Would they be willing to call you and tell you what they are having? You could also always send her a snack everyday just like you have been in the event what they are having is not allowed. That way she always has a back up and will be able to participate at times too.
  8. Unfortunately I have heard others say the same thing. Did he order blood work to look at vitamin and minerals for a possible deficiency? If not you should have it done. I don't know what the norm is but my gi doctor has had me scheduled for appointments every 3-4 months since my diagnosis Oct. of last year. I had the ttg redone at 6 months and it went...
  9. Verify your vitamin to be certain it is gluten free.
  10. O.K. After some digging I found the link. Initally I guess I used Tom Sawyers flour (I had tried both Tom Sawyer and Better Batter with Better Batter winning out in the end). Any way there are other recipes in this link too. Thanks to JennyC for the great recipe!! https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.ph...39686&st=30 Edit: Here is...
  11. Sorry guys that it took so long. Long night at work and I had a field trip this morning with my 4 year old to the local pumpkin patch. Anyway, I do not claim that this is my recipe. I do believe I found it here on this site somewhere, but failed to find the link. Thank goodness I printed it off so here it is drum roll please...... Original recipe as...
  12. Stick to the perimeter of the grocery store. That is where you will find fresh fruits, veggies, meats and dairy. All fresh fruit, veggies and meat are gluten free. Marinated meats you should question. Some of the dairy you have to watch. Milk and most cheeses are fine. Some brands of yogurt (I buy stonyfield farms but there are others) are fine. Single...
  13. Vitamin D, B12, ferritin and probably other iron tests. I'm sure there are others maybe vitamin K. Hopefully some one else will chime in.
  14. All plain fruits, vegetables and meat are gluten free. Just make sure your condiments ie peanutbutter were not from pre celiac days and have a possibility of cross contamination. I am the only one gluten free in my house and for breakfast everyone has what they want. Lunch it depends sometimes one thing everyone eats and sometimes not. Supper is the one...
  15. I have an awesome sugar cookie recipe that I think are even better than their wheat counterparts (and thats saying alot). I'm at work right now but in the morning I will post it for you. I have made them many times and YUMMY!
  16. Sounds like he turned out to be alright. Now he needs to educate his nurse practitioner. Hope you feel better soon. Also after my confirmed diagnosis I asked my kids ped to screen and explained that I just had gotten a diagnosis. He refused to order the blood tests, saying they were fine. I was so mad! I had to call their allergist/immunologist in a...
  17. I have baked several cakes with the better batter and all were light and fluffy. I did make a banana cake, but by nature it was a dense cake. The chocolate and yellow cakes I have made were awesome. Maybe the apple cake is just a dense cake to begin with. I also just mix until blended.
  18. Yes I have tried this too. However I don't recall how much of what used. I think I took the total dry ingredients(flours/meal) and used 1/2 corn meal and 1/2 sorghum flour. I did add a little canola oil because it was dry. I really just don't remember I may have used 3 tbsp cornmeal to 1 tbsp sorghum. I know I made it two different ways and did not...

    ARCHIVED Need To Vent

If you can find a gluten free bread mix (I use Pamelas) you can make your own bread crumbs. I personally don't eat the bread. I slice it and dry it in the oven and then put it in the food processer and I have bread crumbs. I store them in the freezer. If I want seasoned bread crumbs I just mix in a little salt, pepper and italian seasonings and it works...
  20. Here is a different take on it. The blogger used the other recipe I posted and modified it. Check out the rest of her site. It is awesome. I can't wait to try the wraps! Open Original Shared Link
  21. Cut apple wedges and serve with a caramel dipping sauce. This next one was a huge sucess for my son's class. "Cheese Fingers" : Take cheese sticks and cut them in half. Take a knive and score in a few places to resemble the knuckles and cut out at the end a little place and put a dab of cream cheese and stick a slice almond on the end to resemble a finger...
  22. I made these today and they were awesome. It was more like a chocolate cake really and very moist. I would like to experiment with some white beans next. I only had splenda on hand so the only drawback for me was the aftertaste. I am going to order some erythritol and stevia extract and use a blend of it next time. I also did not have unsweetened baking...
  23. Well the "brownies" tasted pretty darn good. It was more like a chocolate cake really, so moist. The only complaint I have is the aftertaste from the splenda. It was all I had so I used it. I will be trying a blend of erythritol and stevia extract as soon as I get some. I like the fact that both of those are natural and supposedly don't leave the aftertaste...
  24. I baked up a south beach version of brownies made with black beans. The batter tasted pretty good. The smells wafting from the kitchen are heavenly. I have a new sweet treat for my desert for the next several days. I'll probably freeze the rest. I'll post after I try them. camundson, I got turned onto this by my parents. I heard about their...
  25. I'd be mad too! Unfortunately the only test that was done for me was the IgA tTG. I did not know to ask for the whole panel(my endocrinologist ordered the test). They called me back to tell me the lab test was abnormal. My level was 78 with anything over 19 a positive. I was then referred to the gi doc. He didn't do any further blood work. He said...
