I hope this is the case. That would work out since on week days I don't go in until 8:30 pm. It would suck for the call person, but hey, that's the way things go sometimes.

I recieved a summons for Jury duty yesterday. I have never recieved one ever and am actually curious on how the whole process works. I have no problem serving if chosen, so I'm not here to debate if celiac sufferers shoud be exempt. I am curious to know how this works. I work night shift and am having trouble seeing how this would play out. I have to...

Sounds great. There are a lot of good ones out there it just takes a little time to find them.

ARCHIVED My 10 Year Olds Endoscopy Was Today!
Roda replied to zack's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My GI doc said he saw minor changes but would not speculate anything until the biopsy results which were positive. -
I have been trying to be more consciencious about how much I am eating. I will really get back on track after Christmas. The kids want sugar cookies and a few other things, and right now I just want to have some. I feel confident that I will get back into the swing of things soon. Thanks for the thoughts.

Woo hoo! I found him! I called an office in NM and was able to leave my name, number and why I was calling with his nurse. Unfortunately he is on vacation until Jan. 4th, but she said she would get him the message and after would call me. I was so nervous my hands were shaking. I am going to take a copy of the article over to the urologist my husband...

ARCHIVED Chronic Fatigue, Any Suggestions?
Roda replied to txplowgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Both of those medicications are Rx meds. I see my endocrinologist every 4 months with follow up blood work. Levothyroxine is generic synthroid. Liothyronine is generic cytomel. There are other rx thyroid medications out there but these are the only two I have taken. Alot of people just take a t4 drug like synthroid. Others like me take a combo of t... -
ARCHIVED Plz Post Your Christmas Dinner Ideas
Roda replied to purple's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I'm going to have a prime rib roast. I have no idea what I am going to have with it yet. Sometimes when I try to do different things the boys won't eat it. One time I took cauliflower and tossed it with olive oil and herbs, then roasted it. It was so good. My oldest son said "you burned the cauliflower." They won't eat it unless it is just steamed with... -
Thanks. I got all of that. After more digging last night I really think the NM lead is the one to go with. I just don't know what to say and how to present myself. I guess like anything else I have done I'll just wing it.

Thanks. I think the best lead so far is in Clovis, NM. I still don't even know what to say if I contact the office. I don't want to sound stupid. I need a little help with that. Any thoughts? I know it sounds stupid, but I feel a little excited about maybe getting some more information. We really just need someone to help us and so far most doctors...

The article does not have this. It is from Military Medicine, Jun 2007. Copyright Association of Military Surgeons of the United States June 2007. From what I can gather the author is/was a colonel in the Army. I did a general search for the name and came up with two leads one in IL and the other in NM.

I am putting this here since it has nothing to do with celiac. I was hoping for some advice, since alot of us on here do a lot of research about our own condition. I have been researching non surgical treatments for CPVPS (chronic post vasectomy pain syndrome) for the past 4 years. Last night I found an article describing IM injections of testerone for...

ARCHIVED Chronic Fatigue, Any Suggestions?
Roda replied to txplowgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Your doctor was wrong in telling you that you don't need the other tests. For a full thyroid work up you should have a TSH, Free T3, Free T4 and thyroid antibodies. My endocrinologist and I have found that I function the best with a slightly elevated Free T3 and Free T4 in the upper normal range. It does keep my TSH on the low normal side. I supplement... -

ARCHIVED Question About Flour And How To Manage It
Roda replied to ciavyn's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I liked making pancakes with this flour. Cakes and such I thought were to gritty and dense. I did eventually use it up. Then I went to better batter flour. Made horrible pancakes but great cakes that were nice and fluffy. Now thanks to Purple, I found a good blend. It is 1 1/2 cups sorghum flour, 1 1/2 cups cornstarch or potato starch or a mixture... -

ARCHIVED Larger Doses Of D3...the Final Piece Of The Puzzle
Roda replied to Eric-C's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've been taking Rx vitamin D 50,000 iu weekly for 11 months now. I did have a blood test initally my vit D level was 17. Three months later it was 43 ish. Oct. level was around 52. I am still taking it at the recommendation of my gyn doc who told me optimal level should be between 50-70. I have just recently convinced my husband to start on vit D. ... -
Well at least if you do go to the ER they may end up ordering that CT scan that you were to schedule. The HIDA will have to be scheduled as an outpatient, unless they were to admit you then it would be done on an inpatient basis. I hope you feel better.

ARCHIVED Failed Methacholine Challenge Test
Roda replied to Roda's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I am curious how he will do when he plays soccer again and when we start riding our bikes alot (it is too cold now). I try to encourage as much physical activity as possible. Now that I am feeling so much better I expect we will be doing a lot more things together. I plan on signing him up for swimming classes next month. He has been doing that since... -

Well I have an update. Jack went for his check up with the allergist. He has gained weight (I can tell he is getting a little butt ) he is now 60 lb and 51 inches!(he will be 9 in Feb.) He has been complaining of growing pains. He had his pft and he did really well. They were shocked because he did way better than what they had predicted for him. ... -
I start my morning off with eggs of some sort. Good protein source. If I eat cereal I am hungry all day. I don't do well if I skip breakfast.

ARCHIVED Bob's gluten-free Oats
Roda replied to SGWhiskers's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Give them a try. There are many celiacs that can eat them. Makes me jelous since I really miss oats. I tried these ones after I had been gluten free for 7 months. I reacted really bad. If I acidently eat something contaminated or something with a very small amount of gluten I get heartburn fairly quickly. I had cookies with them in and I ate about... -
If the doctors truley believe it could be chronic appendicitis it needs to come out. From some reading I've done chronic appendicits can sometimes be worse than acute appendicits. There are so many people that don't present with the "classic symptoms".

ARCHIVED Politically Correct Christmas Greeting!

This is very funny and so true. It is sad however, that some people have resorted to this kind of thing. -
The CT will be good to acess if you have kidney stones and an overall look at your abdomen and pelvis. You can have a normal appearing gallbladder on ultrasound and CT. If those are inconclusive I would ask about a nuclear medicine study called a HIDA scan. It can tell if the gallbladder is functioning properly or not. Here are a couple of links explaining...
