  1. I either steam them in the microwave if only doing a small serving. If cooking veggies for the entire lot I have a steamer pot for the stove top. My crew just likes plain veggies without butter and with a little salt/pepper.
  2. Well, I went Monday and found out that we are on jury summons for the whole month of Jan. and there is a special case in March that all jurors have to show up for. My pannel got called in this morning and I was one that got picked for the jury of the particular case. It was very interesting to be a part of that process. I was able to take my own lunch...
  3. I am going to order from Barry Farm. Open Original Shared Link Their unit prices are very good. However the shipping is alot. Some coworkers and I are going to do a big bulk order and split the shipping so it will make it worth while.
  4. I have not had any problems with store brand frozen or canned veggies. However do watch out for seasoned or ones in sauces that could contain gluten (not saying they do but could). I only buy plain.
  5. You can order a test through the vitamin D council. I don't know how reputable they are though. Maybe someone else knows. Open Original Shared Link
  6. I had a baking stone that I gave to my brother. I don't have a need for a new one. I did buy a new clay baker for bread over 6 months ago and still have not used it. If you know someone you could give it to that would use it you could do that or I like Purple's idea as a planter.
  7. Yup I use this too. I have used it with cornstarch instead of the potato starch and also did 1/2 arrowroot/cornstarch for the potato starch and both are good. I found replacing the potato starch with all arrowroot starch to be a bit on the dry crumbly side. It might have been just overbaking on my part but I don't think so.
  8. My husband is not a beer drinker anymore. The last 6 pack lasted well over 6 months. He is on some medications and he can't consume much in the way of alcohol any more. On the rare occasion he has a beer he knows to brush his teeth and thats that. He is really good about this after eating gluten stuff too. As far as I know I have not had any problems...
  9. has not set their status

  10. I have to say hands down this has been the most rewarding recipe for me last year and to come. Cake made from beans: Open Original Shared Link I have made cakes using splenda, sugar and erythritol/stevia and all versions turned out great. For the chocolate cake I did increase the cocoa to 1/4 cup in addition to the 2 oz of baking chocolate. I made...
  11. Glad it wasn't anything with your heart. I had bad mid chest pain that radiated to my back about a year ago all from something I didn't verify. My husband was the one who told me to take some zantac to see if it would help. I reluctlanty did and It started to go away and I started burping. I thought it was my heart also and was ready to go to the er if...

    ARCHIVED Waffles

I have used Tom Sawyer flour and it made great pancakes. Never made waffles, but I bet it would do well! Glad you liked them. I had also used Better Batter and it made horrible pancakes but great cakes. Otherwise I like my blend for every thing else. My non gluten free husband prefers the sorghum mix better because he does not like the grittiness of...
  13. Was it a chebe mix by chance? I personally don't like that mix but I do make homemade brazillian cheese bread and love it. It is supposed to be a little chewy. We have them when we have pasta. I tried using my basic recipe for a pizza crust and I didn't like the results at all. It did not rise nice like the cheese bread balls. I am hooked on a crust...
  14. I sucessfully made waffles today! I had gotten rid of my waffle iron after I was diagnosed last year and I have not eaten any in over a year. My mom bought me a cuisinart waffle iron for Christmas and I thought, "I can do this." My first attempt about a week ago was a complete disaster. NASTY! I found a recipe online today that I thought I would...
  15. I take UAS Labs, Probioplus DDS, 10 Billion CFU/g. Here is a link. Open Original Shared Link
  16. Purple and anyone else who wants to know. I substituted all the cornstarch in the mix with arrowroot. Flavor was good but made sugar cookies and they were too dry. I think I will stick with the 3/4 cup arrowroot and 3/4 cup cornstarch. It was a good mix. I will have to use the mix in its original recipe too. I actually made a mayonaise cake...
  17. It bothered him not me. The kids and I were perfectly happy eating my soup. We had such a fun day it didn't matter.
  18. Well, my Christmas dinner consisted of homemade beef vegetable soup that I had made the night before and it was really good. My husband put the prime ribs roast in the oven and a little while later I smelled the most rancid fat smell down in the basement. I came upstairs and the smell was worse and asked him if the roast was bad. He said that it was and...
  19. We just had a "pot luck" at work. I did participate and asked ahead of time what the ingredients were in some of the things the others were making. One girl made pimento chese spread and all the ingredients were safe. I had the cheese dip that was velveta/rotel and some tortilla chips (brand I eat all the time). I made a cherry desert, apples with fruit...
  20. According to the tic tac faq section some flavors have xylitol. Have you tried erythritol? Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  21. I tried it on popcorn with some salt and everyone liked it!
  22. I just ordered this brand. (Nutiva) Open Original Shared Link It does have a slight coconut smell and a hint of coconut taste. It tastes very smooth and is really white. It sure beats the spectrum (it was fully processed/refined) I had bought without knowing better. Big difference! I am going to try and melt some and put it on popcorn with some salt...
  23. I take a generic for synthroid also. The generic name is levothyroxine and mine is manufactured by Mylan. I have not had any problem with this and I have been taking the same medicine from this manufacture before and after gluten free. My ttg was over 70 when diagnosed celiac and 6 months later it was down to 10. Also if anyone takes cytomel it is gluten...
  24. If is had a really strong smell it may not have been a qood quality oil. It should have a slight coconut smell and taste. Here is a link on how to choose a good quality oil. I wish I had come across this sooner myself. It will help next time I order it. Open Original Shared Link
  25. Coconut flour does not contain any of the shell. It is made of the coconut meat that has been pressed to make coconut milk (defatted), dried then ground into a flour. It is also very high in fiber. If you are not used to alot of fiber, coconut flour can cause bloating and gas (just like if you over did it on beans ). I find I eat less when I bake with...
