It probably would work. I used my marble rolling pin to roll the dough out between two sheets of waxed paper. My 4 year old had fun cutting them out with cookie cutters. I just rerolled the rest and cut out more. The dough was not stickey but moldable. Edit: If you wouldn't mind I would love your recipe for the brown rice basil crackers. They sound...

ARCHIVED Mmr Vaccine/celiac Disease/autism
Roda replied to EmilyR83's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hep B can be passed by blood and other potentially infectious material not just sexual contact and tainted needles. An infected mother can pass it to her unborn child also. That said, unless there is a high risk for the infant, I do think the dosing schedule could be later when the baby gets a little older. Here is a very good link. Open Original Shared... -
I made these and they were soooo good. Thought I would share. Open Original Shared Link

I used to eat butterfingers all the time and never had any problems. Just goes to show you never know how you will react to some things.

ARCHIVED Gastrointestinal Yeast Questions
Roda replied to StacyA's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
When my youngest son was under 1 year old he had this problem. He was sick so much and on so many antibiotics that it completely wiped out the good bacteria in his intestines. I gave him probiotics in his sippy cup, but that was not enough. He took medicine for the overgrowth in the bowel and nystatin for thrush. He would pass mucus from his bowels without... -
ARCHIVED Levothyroxine
Roda replied to haleym's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't have any problem with the brand of levothyroxine I'm on. I think the manufacturer is Mylan. I know there are several generic forms. The manufacturer should be listed somewhere on the prescription bottle or call the pharmacy so they can give you a number. -
I got off easy this time. I think it was because I only ate the three mini ones and not a great big huge one. Heartburn went away the next day but the tummy rumbled until today. I think I'm already on the mend. Thanks for the support! Oh I don't really care for dark chocolate, so I don't eat the milkyway midnights. Snickers and butterfingers are the...

ARCHIVED Oatmeal Sensitivity Question
Roda replied to nb-canada's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I tried gluten free oats after 9 months into the gluten free diet. I had made cookies with them in. Within a 1/2 hr the heartburn started. I was not quite sure if it was the oats so I ate a few more cookies the next day. Same thing, but since I still had the others in my "system" all h*** broke loose. I had such bad abdominal pain and distention that... -
ARCHIVED Feel Terrible Need Some Input Low Ferritin Levels To Blame?
Roda replied to srthomas21's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes definatly take the iron. The Slow FE brand has been working for me. I got really excited today when my doctor's office called to tell me my ferritin was up to 33! I know it is not exactly where it needs to be, but at least it's going up! Now I know the iron pills are working and I shouldn't have to inquire about infusions yeah! -

ARCHIVED Playgroups And Toddlers
Roda replied to RobynJ's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I hope you don't take what I said as negative. Just my observations from my own experiences. I think these kind of groups have a lot to offer and provides good interaction for everyone. -
Thanks. I just hope it does not shut me down for a week (I get constipated and bloated when glutened). I have done pretty good on not getting glutened. I have only been glutened twice this year. I'm not counting the reaction I had several months ago from gluten free oats. At least I know I react to those now too. I just can't believe I was that careless...

Please don't take this as gospel, but I do belive that the free T3 and T4 should be in the upper third of the range also TSH upper normal range should be around 3. A good endocrinologist should know that there is a tighter range of "normal" on the TSH. My free T3/T4 stay at the upper end of normal if not slightly above. My endocrinologist is great. My...

I have been rooting through the kids halloween candy for things I can eat. I ate about three bite size milky way around 5:30 pm. today. I am sitting here at work and couldn't figure out why I am burping more than usual and feeling the heartburn coming on. DUH, I just realized milkyways are not gluten free that the nougat has barley malt in it! I hope...

I have eaten them without any problems. I like the shakes too and the M & M mcflurries. I really like that the spoon they serve them with is what they mix it with. We have a new DQ in town and would love a blizzard but they have a machine that does not have this. I could ask them to clean it but, it for the trouble it's easier to get the mcflurry...

If it is your thyroid what thyroid tests did you have done? You should have a TSH, T3, T4, Free T3/T4 (these are more reliable), and thyroid antibody tests. I started feeling the best when my current endocrinologist started supplementing me with cytomel (T3) in addition to my levothyroxine (T4). Any time my meds need adjusted she keeps me on the same dosage...

One year Wheat in particular at least once. I ate an otherwise gluten free macaroon that a friend of mine placed on top of a brownie. It was only a month after I went gluten free and she tried really hard and I ate it so I would not hurt her feelings. Won't do that again. I have been hit with either cc or barly malt in "natural flavors" once by not...

ARCHIVED Breathing Symptoms For Celiac
Roda replied to netteredl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yes! My first symptoms were extreme tachycardia and sob. Did not find out until 10 months later that I was anemic and another 6 months to find out my ferritin was in the ditch. I believe my symptoms to be from this. I still have problems with it but not as severe now. I am still being treated for the anemia/low ferritin. -
ARCHIVED Called Quaker Today
Roda replied to Frances03's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think raven might be talking about cornthins and they are very good. I perfer them over rice cakes. It is to bad about the quaker because I liked those better than the lundburg ones. The lundburg, in my opinion were too hard and I did not care for the taste. -
ARCHIVED Osteopenia
Roda replied to twe0708's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Just a little thought on the rx bone meds. My mom cannot tolerate any of them. She started having jaw issues and muscle problems. When she went off of them it went away. Her doctor does not recommend any of them for her. She takes vitamin d and calcium faithfully and her last bone density test has good results. -
ARCHIVED Two New Family Members Diagnosed
Roda posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I found out in July while at a family reunion that my father's full cousin's daughter (on my father's mother's side) is either celiac or gluten intolerent (no official testing). My mom told me yesterday that my father's great great nephew who is only 1 has to be gluten free. Mom told me he had the "rash". Sounds like DH to me. His mother is breast feeding... -
ARCHIVED Biopsy Diagnosed Celiacs.......
Roda replied to Gemini's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have not had the gene testing done. I would like to know but I can't justify the expense since my insurance won't cover it. -
Well I went to the doctor last week and he said their was inflamation but not visible yeast cells. He gave me a course of diflucan anyway. He really felt my problem was related to something environmental. I know certain things trigger severe skin itching for me and my boys. I did some detective work and found in very small print the sanitary pads I was...

ARCHIVED Anyone Take Grapefruit Seed Extract?
Roda replied to Roda's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I'm going to the gyn doctor today. I don't think I can get rid of this without something, diflucan works. The problem being is that they only prescribe you one pill. It does get rid of the immediate infection but does not do anything for whats left to rear its ugly head a few months later. I figure I need to be on something longer. I really am fortunate... -
ARCHIVED Feel Terrible Need Some Input Low Ferritin Levels To Blame?
Roda replied to srthomas21's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I strongly believe that my first symptoms that reared their ugly head is definately related to my chronic low ferritin. I started out of the blue in Feb. 2006 with intense tachycardia and sob. I ended up in the ED twice with my heartrate over 180. I thought they were going to have to shock me back into a normal rhythm. Thank goodness the meds worked. ...
