ARCHIVED Should I Get More Strict?
Roda replied to Roda's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
All my meds are fine, I'm pretty sure of that. Kitchen towels/dishcloths could be one source of problem. I eat very little processed food. I already make most everything from single ingredients. There are a few things such as condiments and our marinade but I know those are gluten free, but I know the outside of the containers are not so I always wash... -

ARCHIVED Are "gluten-free" Oats Safe?
Roda replied to jasonD2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The one time I tried gluten free oats I reacted pretty strongly. I have not tried them since and that was last June. I doubt I will ever try them again. -
ARCHIVED Having Good Luck With Real Foods Corn Thins
Roda replied to Lynayah's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I love these too. Makes a great snack. I can get them at Earth Fare and now in the health food shop in town. -
I can keep a good perspective when it comes to something not directly affecting myself. When there is something wrong with my husband, kids or myself I react differently. The 'ol mama bear thing. So I can sympathize with overreacting!

Well, I'm sitting here worring myself. Just the thought of having surgery is causing me anxiety. I never had anxiety like this until I had my endoscopy and colonoscopy. Of course because of insurance reasons, if I needed surgery, I would like to have it done at the hospital I work at. But that is where I am having the problem. First let me state I love...

Well I made it to my gi appt. My symptoms have gotten worse over the this past week. I think I may have a problem with my gallbladder. I am having horrible acid reflux(does not matter what I eat), burping, gas, an intense feeling like my stomach will not empty, a tugging/pinching feeling in my epigastric/RUQ, increased frequency of the rest room, and trouble...

Ditto on this. People can have kidney stones for years and not have any symptoms. When they start to move down that you can have pain and possible it can obstruct the ureter.

I was summoned and have been on one of twelve jury panels for the whole month of Jan. On Jan 4th,day one(orientation) we were told how things worked and what was expected. Every day after 5:00 we call a number and it would tell you if your panel had to go to court the next day. My panel was called on Jan. 7th and to my suprise I was selected for the jury...

I've never had a kidney stone so I can't say for sure if size matters. I have witnessed many people, with different sized stones, with varring degrees of pain.(I'm a x-ray/ct tech) If you look at a kidney stone under a microscope they tend to be very spikey. You can imagine the pain that can cause while going down the ureter and urethrea. Like the other...

ARCHIVED Should I Get A Colonoscopy Now?
Roda replied to jasonD2's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If your having issues that would warrent a colonoscopy then your age should not matter. I had a colonoscopy when I was 35 for a positive hemoccult stool test. Everything looked good and it was determined the cause was from internal hemmorhoids. I also had a benign polyp removed. My GI doc recommends I have another one when I am 45. That still puts me... -
ARCHIVED Loreal Bare Naturale Mineral Makeup
Roda posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It just occured to me that I have been using this lately. I am at work and can not get the link to Loreal to work if I click on anything else on this web page. The ingredients are listed on here. I was wondering if I need to worry about any of them especially the tocopherol. Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Celiacs With Gallbladders Removed?
Roda replied to Natascha's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Anyone have gallbladder problems without pain? I don't have pain per se, just a feeling like a "cramp" every now and then. I have had hearburn when I eat(from nothing particular), gas and belching that have been terrible and more frequent bathroom trips. I also had a couple of episodes where my esophagus went into spasm and caused horrible pain in my chest... -
ARCHIVED Changing From A Shared Kitchen To All Guten Free Kitchen
Roda replied to Roda's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
We only have squirt bottles for condiments and my husband and I have separate butter. We do share peanut butter, but he never double dips. I don't let the kids scoop out of containers. I do wash the counters and stove down. On his side of the counter he does need to be more cautious about cleaning up the crumbs from the toaster. A potential could be... -
ARCHIVED Changing From A Shared Kitchen To All Guten Free Kitchen
Roda posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I've been having some trouble this past month. I am going back to the GI doctor on Wednesday. I'm not sure if I am getting gluten sneaking in from somewhere or I am exploring the possibility I may have a problem with my gallbladder. If the gallbladder turns out to be alright and my problems are from gluten exposure, how do I deal with the gluten eaters... -
I have been diagnosed hashimoto's since 2000. I have taken thyroid replacement ever since. Going gluten free made very little difference in my thyroid function. I was able after about 6 months on the diet to reduce my one medication, but not by much. For me the damage was already done. But I know others that it improves greatly. I work with a lady who...

ARCHIVED Latest Hypothyroidism Nonsense
Roda replied to beanpot's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
The doctor should treat you. Find another one. I have to say that I have a great endocrinologist. I have been diagnosed hashimotos since 2000. My current endocrinologist has been the best one yet. My fist visit(2007) she adjusted my medication. I have always taken levothyroxine(T4)and she noted that my free T3 was low even with a good TSH. So, she... -
I would be a little leary on my food cooked on the grill unless they cleaned it very well or used a pan to cook mine in. I noticed they have alot of sauces. You would need to read the lables because some of them could have gluten in them. As for soy sauce, most have wheat in them. You need one that is gluten free. I don't know of the brands off hand...

Will power can be a problem with me also. I can make some pretty good things gluten free. I don't miss the old stuff at all. I have not been baking much at all, just trying to have healthy options in the house. I still slip once and a while, but we are all after all just human. I'm keeping up with exercising. I just had to take a 6 day break from...

ARCHIVED Friend Says She's In Remission?
Roda replied to KSLMom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
She has either gotten very terrible advice from a bad doctor or she does not understand what she is doing to her body. I hope you find out what you need on your kids. Hopefully someday soon she will realize what gluten will do to her again and stick to it. If you have celiac then you need to be gluten free for life. -
ARCHIVED Benefit Of Positive Biopsy?
Roda replied to emilyanne's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I wanted the endoscopy with biopsy, yes to confirm the blood work, but also to make sure nothing else was going on. Not only did I have a positive biopsy, but found a hiatal hernia and esophagitis. It has been slightly over a year since my endoscopy and I have started having trouble with what seems to be food getting stuck. I even had my esophagus go into... -
I have a recipe for gluten free crescent rolls. I've made them twice with moderate sucess. I'll figure something out I like a challenge.

Did you have your own baker or did the rep bring one and use it? I currently do not own any pampered chef stoneware or bakewear. I do however have lots of parchment and aluminum foil. I am going to have to get into contact with an rep soon. I've been wanting to get some more pampered chef items.

If you grind your teeth in your sleep it could contribute to the tmj. You can get a bite block or mouth guard to wear at night. The dentist will make a cast of your teeth and send it off to have one made. It helped my husband alot. Plus if you are grinding your teeth it can eventually cause enamal/tooth damage. Never had dreams so I can't comment on...
