  1. Thanks for the info. Yes I have seen that site. My kids are 4 and 8 so it has been some time since I had symptoms of overmedication. The sob has lingered since 2006 and comes and goes. My tachy resolved until Jan of this year and the sob has increased. I started vitamin D 50,000 iu weekley in Jan. (vit d was 17) and after about a month I started to feel...
  2. In Dec. 06 I had a low hemaglobin and hematocrit indicating I was anemic. I took iron supplements and they returned to normal in 2007. My H & H has been normal since and so has my circulating iron. I found out in mid 2007 that I have chronic low ferritin and since then it has never gotten above 6. My question is can a low ferritin with normal H &...
  3. I was really anticipating my 6 month check up yesterday. I really do like the GI doc. Well anyway, I had called my endocrinologist's office to send copies of my lab work I had done on April 3rd and this was after two other requests for copies for myself. I told them that it was very important to fax the most recent labs to the gi doctor. When I got to...
  4. These make great dinner rolls especially with italian food. https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?showtopic=57159
  5. I know this has nothing to do with bloating but it does with shortness of breath(sob). I think that sob can be a symptom of anemia. I have chronic low ferritin (my last known value was 6) and it does matter how little or how much activity I do. I always get sob and have this huge need to breath in as deep as I can the more I increase my activities. It...
  6. That is great feeling to have! Over two years ago my husband purchased The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey. We both read it from cover to cover and decided that we definately needed a "money makeover". We paid off our credit card, medical bills and sold our then two year old truck and bought an older used vehicle to get rid of a car payment. We...

    ARCHIVED Overwhelmed

Sorry it took me awhile to get back to you. Here is the link to the bread. Enjoy, I know I have. https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.ph...mp;#entry527541
  8. Well I made these again and they were still good. I had them with homemade spagetti and meatballs. The Tinkyada rice noodles were gross though. It kinda dampened the whole dinner. But the bread saved the day. I just opened it up in half and popped a meatball and some sauce in the middle and wow, that was good. So I decided to try it as a pizza crust...

    ARCHIVED Overwhelmed

When they recommended you go wheat free they should have told you that spelt is a no no. It is an older form of wheat. I'm sorry that you have been feeling bad. I did a lot of looking on the internet, but as with anything, buyer beware. Not all the information out there is accurate. I turned to this site for info, I consulted with a dietician, and bought...
  10. Maybe the reason that my endocrinologist is willing to listen and order reasonable tests is because, I think, she is Austrailian herself and thinks more outside the box. I am lucky I found her. I started seeing her in 2007 to manage my thyroid. This is the first endocrinologist that I have seen in 9 years that schedules appointments every 4 months with...
  11. After I started to think I had celiac I asked my endocrinologist about it and if she could order a test. She did not hesitate since I have hashimoto's. She called me about a week later to tell me the blood test was positive and I needed to see a GI doc. I told her that there was one at the hospital I work at and so I was set up within a week for an appt...
  12. I did not loose weight either before being diagnosed. I had lost 10 lb. the month before my EGD, but I think it was more nerves than anything. I put it all back on by Christmas. I am now down 5 lb, but not from being gluten free. I am suffering from too much thyroid medication and am in the process of adjusting my dose. At least I know the diet is working...
  13. I know this is probably a dumb question, but is there any concern with contact lens solutions? I am contemplating getting contacts again. It has been almost 10 years since I have worn them and since then only have worn glasses. I know a lot has changed with contacts since 1999.
  14. (I'm a vegetarian as well and allergic to citrus). It's a bit overwhelming at first, eh? QUOTE (happygirl @ Apr 14 2009, 03:50 PM) My favorite flour that I use to convert all my 'normal' recipes is Open Original Shared Link . I also really like the Gluten Free Pantry mixes. Oh....my....goodness. There are flour substitutes! This is fabulous...
  15. I breastfed both of my children. I was not sure how long I was going to but I gave it a try. I found it to be one of the most rewarding things I could do for them. Aside from you being gluten free, keep in mind that other things in your diet could cause them tummy trouble. I pretty much went dairy free with my first (I could eat yogart and hard cheeses...
  16. After searching many recipes for pao de queijo I decided on the one in the link below. My reason was that in some of the other recipes, the reviews were alright but critics would say that the liquid amounts were off. This one was the recipe that I tried that would not yeild a gigantic batch, but was easily doubled. I also wanted to make my own for cost...
  17. I mentioned the same thing almost three years ago when I had horrible heartburn to my doctor. He automatically said that in the long run it would be worse to let it go and have problems. I ended up not taking his advice on the prescription and basically managed it with/without foods that I knew triggered it. I would take an occasional tums. Since going...
  18. I believe that they are all manufactured in Australia (please correct me if I'm wrong) with some flavors only available in Australia. There are people with other sensitivities and they need to be aware of the other ingredients. Thanks for sharing the additional information. I have a friend with some other food intolerences, so I'll be sure to let them...
  19. I just thought I would share this for anyone interested in a change from boring old rice cakes. Some of you may already be familure with them. I discovered Corn Thins at our local Earth Fare. You can find them in the same place as the rice cakes. I have eaten the original and multigrain ones. I like that they are really thin, maybe about 1/4" thick,...
  20. Corn Thins are a thin mabe 1/4" thick round crunchy "cake" made out of corn. There are several varieties. The only ones I have found at our local Earth Fare is the original and multigrain. Both are good. I love to make a sandwich out of them. They are thin enough to do that and I love the crunch. Here is a link to the site. Note under the FAQ'S page...
  21. The above are great ideas. Another good bar is Kind bars. I love them. Popcorn would be a quick snack. I didn't eat gluten free bread either until I tried this: https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?showtopic=56641 I was really suprised how much I like it. I eat it without even toasting it. It makes a great sandwich as long as I don't slice...
  22. Are you refering to an afrin type of nasal spray? Regular saline is quite effective for allergies since it clears out the passages. You need to do it a few times a day. Works wonders on my boys.
  23. I bought the regular starburst fruit chews and the bag had gluten free on the back too! I'm eating some right now.
  24. Well, I finaly got my mesquite flour I ordered. It does smell wonderful. I think it smells like a mixture of cocoa and cinnamon. I tried it in pancakes and I smell it more than I taste it. I tried it in my flour mixture for my fried chicken and again I can smell it more than I taste it. It did give the chicken a nice dark crispy crust. I think I am...
  25. This is just my opinion. I don't know really much about DH. I don't see how bactroban would help it unless it got infected. My youngest son had to use bactroban cream in his nares when he had MRSA in his tonsils to kill any of it that may have colonized in his nose. Unless there are signs of infection, I don't think it is necessary. Could she have some...
