  1. I'm facing this same issue soon(not having a baby though ). I meet with a surgeon this Friday about getting my gallbladder taken out. I'm hoping that it will be done through same day surgery and I get to go home. But there is always a possibility I may have to stay overnight. I'm nervous about having surgery anyway and don't want to add getting glutened...
  2. To the OP did you have your gallbladder out or are you currently having problems? I just found out today that I have chronic cholecystitis and poor gallbladder ejection fraction of only 21%. I've been very uncomfortable since my HIDA scan today. It has really went down hill from the tests 2.5 years ago. I knew it was worse since I've become more symptomatic...
  3. Thanks. Ultrasound was normal yesterday which I already figured it would be. I go today to get the HIDA scan done. I have a feeling I'll be in the same situation as last time. If so, I guess I'll manage like I have been.
  4. My boys ped wouldn't test my boys either. They both were seeing a pediatric allergist/immunologist at the time and I got him to send me the order for the blood test. There was no problem at all. Both tested negative on blood work after I was diagnosed. I had oldest retested yearly and he was always negative. He has been gluten free for now a year and...
  5. Mine or my husbands bout with this has not been linked to gluten or thyroid at all. I also work on my feet all day long in a hospital, so good shoes are a must. I do experience some foot aches and pains now and again but it's just from my feet being tired or needing new shoes/inserts for them. I have (knock on wood) not had PF in many years.
  6. Having mine rechecked with ultrasound and a HIDA scan today. I have had slight issues for 2.5 years but it was still functioning at 48% which I was told was above the 35% threshold for removal. Symptoms have been very mild since then, so when I would have them I'd just deal with it. My symptoms decided to "morph" about 1.5 weeks ago which brings me to...
  7. Yep, my husband and I have had it too. It sucks. If you can, either get good fitting shoes with good arch support or get custom orthotics made. My husband was so miserable he had to get injections in his feet to help calm things down a bit at first. He then got custom foot orthotics made for his shoes and only has a problem now if his inserts begin to...
  8. We started a gluten challenge on my youngest son after he had been gluten free for 4.5 months. He started having noticible reactions 24 hrs later. He really was bad by day three and my husband said he had all the proof he needed(didn't to a scope/biopsy initally when his blood work was positive) and called the challenge off. There was no way he or us could...
  9. Have you had an ultrasound and HIDA scan of your gallbladder? It's worth checking out to see if it is causing some of your symptoms. Some of your symptoms could be caused by a bad gallbladder, but I'm not a doctor but is worth ruling it in or out. I hope you get some relief soon.
  10. Your doctor should have ran a total IgA to make sure you are not IgA deficient which if you were, then would lend any IgA testing inaccurate. For yourself, you should have had an IgA/IgG DGP(deamidated gliadin peptide) test also. So you didn't get a full celiac panel. You don't necessarily need to have "all" the tests positive to have celiac. My youngest...
  11. My main symptom was acid reflux also. My youngest son had reflux since an infant that "seemed" to go away by the time he was 3.5 and before I was diagnosed. Had him tested and was negative, so we thought we were in the clear. Two years later, he started complaining of acid reflux again, fat in his stool and weird behaviors. His blood work was positive...
  12. I use them all the time.

    ARCHIVED Quail

I'm up to 11 hens now. Funny two more "males" ended up female. Sunday my eggs started hatching. Out of 35 eggs I had 22 to hatch. Pretty good considering I've never incubated eggs before. They are so cute! They are no bigger than my thumb and some smaller. I had one with a splayed leg and I had to splint it's legs together with a bandaid. Another...
  14. I was gonna suggest the same thing. I've had to in a pinch when I've run out.
  15. My opinion it should be part of the service they provide at the pharmacy. I've had problems with chain pharmacys, but I do well at a private pharmacy where I live. In the event I can't use the private pharmacy, I still have to call myself and shop around. Sucks!
  16. I guess I have been lucky. I have not had a need for a 504 plan yet. My youngest son's kindergarden teacher was great. Had a few issues with his first grade teacher but we got that worked out. He starts school on Thursday so I'll be informing his second grade teacher about his celiac. My oldest son had the same teacher last year in 5th grade so he has...
  17. Yes there is. Here is a link to a topic I started on it.
  18. Sorry you are feeling bad. Watch out of oat CC. It wasn't like when I actually ate the oats with an instant reaction, but it slowly built up and one day, then for 8 stinking months I was miserable. I am pretty careful where I source my gluten free ingredients calling and making sure there is no chance of oat CC. Hope you are feeling better soon.

    ARCHIVED Blood Test Interpretation

Just going by your blood work it seems like you have celiac. The EMA and Deamidated gliadin are specfic to celiac. The tTG can be elevated in other autoimmune diseases also, but since the others are positive it's safe to say the elevated tTG is from celiac also. Some doctors will diagnose on blood work alone. The EGD isn't that bad. You won't remember...
  20. My main GI complaint was horrible heartburn/reflux. The reflux was new and nothing would touch it. I did eat a lot of tums and tried to be careful what I ate. At one point even water would set me off. I am stubborn so I refused to take PPI's. I would occasionally take a Zantac (it's an H2 blocker) when it got really bad. I wanted to know "why" I had...
  21. Approximately 10% of celiacs react to pure gluten free oats like as Peter mentioned. Definately the minority. I am very sensitive to gluten free oats and trace cross contamination from them. That trace CC kept me ill for 8 months(started after I had been gluten free for 15 months. Facing steroids, I went on a further elimination diet and got rid...
  22. My youngest son had a "withdrawl." He actually got moodier and was constantly hungry. If started tapering off after about 2 weeks.
  23. I am convinced my father and brother have celiac as well. I give my dad a little credit because he did get blood tested once after I was diagnosed. However, it wasn't done correctly. My brother is the worst though. He refuses to be tested in any way, shape or form. His health is really declining and it is sad for someone who is only 42. My neice(said...
  24. My entire family likes the SamMills corn pasta. I can get a 16 oz package for about $2.50. We have tried many different brands of gluten free pasta and come back to that one. My gluten eating husband even likes it. We used to fix regular pasta for him and gluten free for the rest of us, but he says the Sam Mills tastes fine and it's not worth it to make...
  25. I just want to say you've got good advice so far. I was diagnosed with hashi's when I was pregnant with my first son in 2000. It stayed under the radar since 1997 though at least. I had a friend at the time who did an ultrasound on my thyroid and thought it looked funny. We found a picture in one of her books of a hashi's thyroid and mine looked just...
