  1. Doesn't sound like gluten is the issue, yet there could be a food or environmental trigger. Have you visited an Allergist for blood and skin prick allergy testing? If all was negative, try a food journal.

  3. Yes....my tests are much more expensive when ordered by doctor and billed to insurance. The $200 panel is what I found when I researched alternatives to obtaining doctor's orders.   5. You should explain to your primary exactly what has happened. That the GI found atrophy but felt it was not celiac based on the single biopsy. You are planning to remove gluten to determine if there is an issue with gluten whether it be Celiac or NCGS. Based on information from the major Celiac Centers (UoC, Univ of Maryland, UCSD and many more) you understand...
  6. You need to be ingesting gluten for any celiac antibody test. Many folks become even more frustrated than you have been this past week when they remove gluten and then find out the tests are invalid. Even a gluten challenge of 6 to 12 weeks is not as accurate as the data you would receive before initially removing gluten. I agree with Paul....try...

  10. Right 30% of population has one or both genes. Approx 1% of poplulation has Celiac Disease. Last numbers I read -- 6% of population has Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity.
  11. Welcome Marina! Have you been tested for Celiac Disease? If not, it is a very good idea to do so BEFORE removing gluten is removed. Once gluten is removed the blood tests are not valid. But you are correct ..... Living gluten-free can indeed improve many AI disorders
  12. Guidelines have indeed changed a great deal since you were diagnosed. All of your children should be tested every three to five years (sooner if symptoms arise). For your son with the recent panel....request written or electronic results before you head to the GI. Make sure the following were included to save time by having as much info for the GI...
  13. Journaling food & symptoms is a big undertaking....thankfully it is worth the effort to weed out possible dietary solutions to health issues. There is no need to replace dishes, utensils or most cookware. Nonstick pans, toaster, cutting board, colander should be avoided. If you haven't - give the Newbie 101 thread a good read.   14. Now that testing is complete....I strongly suggest you remove all gluten for at least three months due to the inflammation of the small intestine and symptoms. Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity has many of the same symptoms as Celiac, but there is no test other than elimination of gluten to monitor for symptom improvement. Hang in there

  16. Yes, with her symptoms she should be tested for Celiac Disease - there is no s in Celiac If possible find out if your sister already tested positive for any of the celiac antibody blood tests. If those or her biopsy indicate Celiac Disease, both you and your daughter should request a complete celiac antibody panel. Good luck to your family

And do speak to your primary care and the GI about your high level of anxiety. Lastly as someone else mentioned removing gluten can help anxiety...so regardless of results it would be a good...

  19. Extremely....extremely rare. MOST people diagnosed with Celiac Disease improve within weeks and their intestines are healed within six months. Please re-read the positive comments and stop researching worst case scenarios for a disease that you have not been diagnosed with.
  20. It looks like the IgA numbers are total serum IgA - if I could see ranges I'd know for sure. If it is Total IgA then these numbers show IgA deficiency which means the IgA based tests are not accurate. This explains why the IgG based test had a higher value...again without ranges it is hard to know if it is a positive. I don't see a tTG-IgG...If it has...

  23. And Jagermeister is 70 percent! Anyone who mixes Jager with tequila, rum and whiskey is going to feel pretty darn bad for more than a day - celiac or not. Just my opinion here...but if you want to let loose...go for it, but try to stick to one type of alcohol. Drink lots of water. Hope you feel better soon!
  24. I understand what you have read has scared you -- incomplete information will do that. We have all been through the necessary adjustment to live gluten-free, IF needed you can too. While the transition can be tough -- it is far from a dire diagnosis. I don't think there are any conclusions to be made until the doctor clarifies the information obtained...
