  1. Welcome! I combined your posts to one thread so members can respond to you in the same place. Take care
  2. The Celiac Disease diagnosis process can be extremely frustrating...there is no way for me to tell you if you have celiac based on what the doctor said he saw and what sounds like a form letter from pathology. I wish I could give you a firm answer, but that just isn't possible. I would request a copy of the pathology report sent to the doctor, which...
  3. Welcome! First off -- IF you have Celiac Disease the good news is many of your other health issues may improve greatly with the removal of gluten. Second -- Celiac Disease is not an allergy, but an autoimmune disorder which is diagnosed via blood tests and endoscopic biopsy by gastroenterology, not allergy. Third -- not all folks with Celiac Disease...
  4. This was very refreshing to read....thought I'd share Open Original Shared Link
  5. Wash them well and they'll be fine
  6. It all worked out as hubs ended up with the huge bar which made him happy and son ended up with a safe bar on the 26th and another the following week because Santa still felt bad
  7. Hi Jamie! Sorry you had a tough month...don't be too hard on yourself for the old processed in a facility with wheat statement.....I (I mean Santa) accidentally put a humongous milk choc bar in my 20 year old celiac's Christmas stocking with the lovely shared facility statement .... I think he kinda enjoyed catching me in a label reading mishap....what...
  8. Were the celiac antibodies run before you reintroduced gluten? Had they come down? If she is now growing, no longer has bowel issues nor rash and antibodies improved...why doubt the diagnosis? Not sure which IgG was elevated, but do make sure they ran both tTG and DGP. I would also make sure your GI has specific experience/training with diagnosing...
  9. Hi Lori...I just answered on your other thread...didn't see that you are having trouble with many foods so that answer may not be helpful. Have you been keeping a food/symptom log? If you can't pinpoint what is bothering you...it may be time for a comprehensive elimination diet followed by trailing each individual food (not food groups) with at least three...
  10. I agree with Addie...small adjustments and additions are the best way to go. Good fats...avocados, coconut oil, nuts... If you can do dairy...cheese and goodies like ice cream and pudding. Have your nutrient levels been checked since you removed gluten? Mine raised consistently but were not in strong normal ranges until nearly two years gluten...
  11. I guess I'm not understanding either...if the home is gluten free how did dropping the cap get gluten on it and when it dropped....how did anything get inside the cap? If your brother said it only touched it a little...was he talking about it touching the floor? or obvious source of gluten? Any family that has removed gluten to the extent mentioned...
  12. Welcome! When you had celiac antibody tests in December...how long had you been consistently ingesting (daily) gluten? Do you know which tests were run and the exact results? Have other nutrients been tested aside from B12? For now...make sure you are ingesting gluten EACH day until the endoscopy...a slice of glutinous bread per day is plenty...
  13. It really is finding what you can tolerate I've had problems with every item on every list - including cinnamon - yet was able to drink red wine for many months with no issue Oh...we do freeze leftover meat to use for my other meals.
  14. Hope - yes - always Soon - no There is ongoing research on many fronts. For now...the only way to heal from celiac damage is to remove all sources of gluten.
  15. I agree that after several months the biopsies will likely be negative. sorry I wasn't clear...was thinking more along the line that the positive endomysial antibodies is enough to diagnose celiac and that both the endo and colonoscopy would be looking for other issues in addition to celiac. If you are wanting to confirm it is celiac via endoscopy...
  16. Welcome! Constipation is a major symptom of Celiac Disease. Many of us have C, rather than D - despite what many doctors and celiac symptom lists stubbornly indicate. Here is a good list of the over 300 symptoms that can be associated with Celiac Disease: Open Original Shared Link Six weeks often is not long enough for the gut to heal. Your...
  17. Welcome! I agree with Gemini - if your biopsies are negative - do remove ALL gluten for at least three months (six is better). Also, do you have written or electronic results of your Celiac Antibody Panel? If not, request them - not all doctors run the complete panel. If you are unsure of the results, post them and we can help -- same goes for your...
  18. Hi there! Sorry, it wasn't me that recommended someone in Houston...I am only familiar with doctors in Southern California. Perhaps someone else from Texas will pop in. Good Luck PS....Perhaps find a local Celiac Support Group to find a Celiac specialist near you?
  19. Welcome RMJ! Thanks for providing this corrected link
  20. It might be a good idea to call your doctor's office and ask if it is possible to add these on: DGP - both IgA and IgG (Deamidated Gliadin Peptides) Total Serum IgA Especially because you know you have an issue with gluten...you don't want to have to go through another challenge!!! Just saw your note that you weren't eating gluten every day...
  21. Tough call. When you were back on gluten from Mid October - January 1 did you eat gluten every day? If so, the 8 days you were off gluten recently may not impact the results - unfortunately there is no way to know. The best thing to do is eat at least one slice of glutenous bread per day for at least six weeks - if you can manage the symptoms that long...
  22. 15 samples is very good...sticking to the "gold standand" of biopsy is outdated, but at least he took numerous samples...hopefully at least one will indicate celiac and allow this doctor to diagnose your son. While I don't hope your son has measurable damage, I do hope you will not be left in diagnostic limbo. Transitioning to gluten-free is not easy...
  23. Welcome! With familial history, strong positive antibodies - including EMA-IgA which indicates intestinal damage - and symptoms I can't imagine a reason to keep this child on gluten for another six months. That the doctor suggested this - especially before the biopsies have been processed leaves me to wonder how much experience/training this doctor has...
  24. Welcome Donna! So sorry to hear your daughter is still feeling poorly. That she still has elevated antibodies indicates that she is getting gluten somewhere. Once gluten is removed, most of us become sensitive to very tiny amounts of gluten - it does not take a large quantity to make us ill. Is your kitchen a combined kitchen? If so, do you have...
  25. I don't think you offended anyone...it is more a matter of we can relate to what your daughter may be feeling. That you are looking for answers is the most important thing. The good news IF this is Celiac Disease is that dietary changes may turn your daughter into a happy, healthy, energetic kid. Won't say it will cure the "I don't wanna(s)", but with...
