  1. Did you have a complete celiac antibody testing? Do you know how many samples of the small intestine were taken? If your GI ruled it out by endoscopic biopsy alone, you still need to have the blood work completed before removing gluten....this can be ordered by your primary doctor or the GI. If blood has been done, it is time to remove all gluten for...

    ARCHIVED Corn

Perhaps because Polenta is made from cornmeal it is easier on your system than whole kernel corn. Wait a while and retry whole kernel corn - fresh or frozen would be best test.
  3. I googled those test numbers... The 82784 looks to be the complete panel: Total Serum IgA tTG-IgA and tTG-IgG DGP-IGA and DGP-IgG EMA-IgA will be run if tTG-IgA is positive. It looks like the 83516 is another tTG-IgA with EMA if tTG is positive. So it LOOKS like you have correct testing ordered, but do be sure to get written or electronic...
  4. I start here: Open Original Shared Link If it isn't on this list...make sure you check which manufacturer your pharmacy has for generics...then I contact manufacturer.
  5. We call it Kryptonite in our family...I just wish it turned anything it touched bright green
  6. Gluten light...how light? Please continue to eat at least a slice or two of glutenous bread EACH DAY until you have a completed all celiac antibody tests along with endoscopic biopsies...should you choose to have an endoscopy. Once those are complete or you decide you do not wish to have more tests....remove ALL gluten for at least three months (six...
  7. I've seen a few folks on this board that have had good meetings with dieticians and many that have not. That said, when I was diagnosed I did go to the dietician three weeks post diagnosis at the recommendation of my celiac doc. This woman was the dietician for the UCSD's Celiac Center....so although it was not covered by insurance I went....and it was...
  8. Yes, this is good news. All of your antibodies should be negative if you have been gluten free for two years. It is advised to have the celiac panel run at six months and then annually there after. Since this panel was negative there is nothing more to do other than remain gluten-free and include the panel in your annual blood work.
  9. Diarrhea is NOT an essential symptom of Celiac Disease and doctors belief that it is left me undiagnosed for 43 years. You have symptoms that improved gluten-free and obvious reactions to gluten. There is only one option. Remove ALL gluten...it doesn't hide, but it does take dedication to learn what foods either contain gluten or are prepared where they...
  10. We love the winter Olympics Mogul competition was fantastic last night...Canada rocked it! Of course we couldn't be happier with snowboarding thus far...Go U.S.A.!!!!! And slalom skiing....need I really say how much I love it? Not really certain what to think about the new team ice skating...but was different to see skaters supporting each...
  11. Positive is positive. Your DGP-IgG is a very strong positive and your tTG-IgA is well into positive. You mention having other negative antibody tests within the past couple years. Have your symptoms worsened between these rounds of tests? Edited to add...don't assume your primary will have copies of these reports...call to verify they have both procedural...
  12. You have numerous symptoms, the genetics, nutrient deficiencies and TWO positive antibody tests. Forgive me if I question this GI's conclusion. From your description he is practicing based on outdated information. Do be sure to request written or electronic copies of both the procedural and pathology reports which will show how many samples were taken...

  14. Welcome! What was the range of the DGP IgA? Did you have a complete celiac antibody panel? A positive means your body is creating antibodies to one of the peptides in gluten protein. With symptoms, genetic link, nutrient deficiency and a positive antibody test - if all testing is complete it is time to remove all gluten to monitor symptom improvement...
  15. I purchase coffee and espresso at many different Starbucks locations along with other coffee shops -- until I developed other intolerances I drank Carmel Macchiatos as a treat once per week...they are gluten free -- yum Coffee is safe...as long as you check the ingredients of flavorings and syrups for gluten...Enjoy!
  16. Here is a great place to start: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/ It is important that you not remove gluten or even go gluten light with your son until testing is complete including an endoscopy if that is the path you choose. Once gluten is removed the body stops producing the antibodies which are measured in the celiac...
  17. It likely is just a bad flu bug....plenty of folks without Celiac are suffering this winter. As for Celiac making it worse....if you were still ingesting gluten - maybe, but since you are now living gluten free you will be less likely to catch things as your health improves and your immune system becomes stronger.
  18. Welcome! Can you provide the specific tests run with the lab's ranges -- different labs have different ranges and not all doctors run complete celiac antibody panels. Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity has no blood test -- only eliminating all sources of gluten for at least three months to monitor symptoms can diagnose NCGS. Not all children test positive...
  19. Hi Scott- What time zone is being used for the poll? Thanks!

    ARCHIVED 'patients Become Experts'

This thread made me giggle. During my first year post dx my celiac doctor asked me where I worked ... at the time I worked only part time at a top research/graduate school. He then asked what my area of research was as we had had several very lengthy scientific conversations regarding celiac, fibromyalgia and other AIs and I always brought him copies of...
  21. It is common...especially the first year...if you search dreams or nightmares you can read lots of stories...here is one old thread: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/95802-gluten-nightmares-literally/?hl=nightmares I haven't had a dream I was eating something I shouldn't for a very long time now....mostly it's an adjustment thing or sometimes recurs...
  22. It's okay to mourn the loss of spontaneity along with experiencing frustration and depression over all the foods you are unable to eat. You changed your diet drastically over a short period of time...use all the suggestions folks have provided and then simply give it time. Most days it is really much easier to eat simply...but there are times where...
