ARCHIVED Question For The Group. High B12, Glucose/low Protein, Calcium
GottaSki replied to GF Lover's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Lol Nicole...gotta admit Colleen had me googling a bit yesterday...but didn't post as I didn't find much except my guess that the high sugar could be connected to the LDH Deficiency. Perhaps even the high B12 as both glucose and B12 are part of the production of energy....but could not find anything specific on high B12 low LDH...only the reverse of low... -

ARCHIVED Cannot Get Diagnosis From Blood Test Alone?
GottaSki replied to WinterSong's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You were diagnosed correctly. Most folks only have a gene test IF the other criteria are not clear OR they are looking for answers for their family. You clearly have the most important diagnostic criteria. No question here...you have Celiac Disease. Carry on -
ARCHIVED Trying To Make Sense Out Of My Test. Dr Says Celiac For Sure?
GottaSki replied to scratchdent2003's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree with the doctor - very few are willing to diagnose based on positive blood along with symptom resolution. At 43, I was only weakly positive on all antibodies except the DGP-IgG was much higher. I had severe intestinal damage and had symptoms now known to be associated with Celiac Disease since childhood. My children (adult and teens at the time... -
ARCHIVED How To Investigate A Celiac Diagnosis W/o Eating Gluten?
GottaSki replied to NanaV's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree with both gene test for you and complete celiac antibody panel for the kids. I was initially tested for genes as my children tested mostly negative with a wide variety of celiac symptoms...turned out I have two copies which means all of my children have at least one - it was important information for our family. Talk to your primary doctor and... -
ARCHIVED Help With Endo Results
GottaSki replied to MominSoCal's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Did your daughter have a complete celiac antibody panel or just the tTG? Do you have a copy of the pathology report from the procedure? The early stages of celiac have cellular changes that are sometimes noted in the report, but are not conclusive for diagnosis. How many samples were taken? Many doctors do not take enough as damage can be spotty... -
ARCHIVED How Long Till He Starts To Feel Better? (Anemia Goes Away, Etc.)
GottaSki replied to lynnedays's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I agree....once gluten is reduced significantly it can affect the antibody tests. If everyone feels better gluten-free - great - except you lose this data and may need to perform a gluten challenge if a diagnosis is needed in the future - which can be extremely difficult. I'd vote for complete antibody panels all around. Your primary can order these tests... -
ARCHIVED How Long Till He Starts To Feel Better? (Anemia Goes Away, Etc.)
GottaSki replied to lynnedays's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
PS....if you are going gluten free with him you should have a complete celiac antibody panel before removing gluten as celiac disease is genetic. -
ARCHIVED How Long Till He Starts To Feel Better? (Anemia Goes Away, Etc.)
GottaSki replied to lynnedays's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It is indeed frustrating! I can tell you it gets better with time. For now try not to be too hard on yourself --- mistakes will happen, but they will become fewer and farther between as time goes on. Often the reactions to small amounts of gluten become worse...which is no fun, but does help to reinforce the need to be completely gluten-free ... 4... -
ARCHIVED How Long Till He Starts To Feel Better? (Anemia Goes Away, Etc.)
GottaSki replied to lynnedays's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Welcome Lynn! Your son may feel better within weeks rather than months. Young kids tend to improve quickly once all gluten is removed. Learn all you can about how to keep him gluten-free and preventing cross-contamination. Take a look at the "newbie 101" thread: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/ It will take some time to correct... -
ARCHIVED Please, Please, Please - Tell Me I Don't Have It :)
GottaSki replied to Darzmr's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The Immunoglobulin A and G tests are done to be sure you have enough IgA or IgG for the celiac antibody tests to be accurate. You seem to be deficient in both which means your celiac antibody tests that are in normal range could be incorrect. This does not mean you have celiac disease - just that more investigation is needed. I know it is very frustrating... -

ARCHIVED Test Results Do I Have Celiac Or Not?

ARCHIVED A Follow Up On My Situation
GottaSki replied to Renegade's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Just my opinion but keep taking both, drink lots of water, eat what bothers you the least, continue to lay off the weed and give it time without changing things -- along with checking in with gastro. -
ARCHIVED A Follow Up On My Situation
GottaSki replied to Renegade's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I agree. It sounds like your gut is inflammed and can react to anything. Eat what was working for 2-3 weeks and wait for your gastro appt. Cant recall if you are taking probiotics and/or digestive enzumes - if not give think about starting and do give it more than a couple weeks to help. Once you get your system to settle...wait another month then introduce... -

ARCHIVED Don't Know What To Do!
GottaSki replied to Glutenfree psych nurse's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree with Colleen completely. Sorry to hear of yet another doctor that is uneducated to correct celiac testing procedures. If you are not able to resume ingesting gluten....perhaps talk to your primary about running an antibody panel....it is a long shot, but some folks antibodies don't return to normal range for several months. Or request... -
ARCHIVED Son's Test Results?

Good plan. Celiac affects many systems of the body...you will likely be pleasantly surprised with improvements once you are able to eliminate gluten. Let us know if you have more questions. -

ARCHIVED Not Sure How Much More I Can Take.
GottaSki replied to MChase's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree. Ask your primary to run a complete celiac antibody panel as it is strange that gastro skipped this step. As soon as blood tests are complete remove all gluten. You may find your family will be onboard once you regain health gluten-free. Hang in there -
ARCHIVED Son's Test Results?
GottaSki replied to mzmoe's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome! The first two tests are celiac antibody tests. The last test is done to be sure there is enough IgA in the body to assure the antibody tests are accurate. The next step is to make an appt with GI - the celiac center is preferable. Do not remove gluten from his diet until he has seen Gastro....and do mention his positive antibody tests... -

ARCHIVED Blood Test Normal - Where To Go From Here?
GottaSki replied to jvdb's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I would make sure you had a complete celiac antibody panel to include both IgA and IgG versions of tTG and DGP along with Total Serum IgA; nutrient testing of minimally B12, D, Iron along with recent CBC and CMP so that all the results are available for your gastro appt. Do not remove gluten until the GI appt is completed in case you decide to have an...
