  1. I think they are wise for children....at least they have something to point to when they try to explain to dismissive adults.
  2. Welcome Bella Sorry you got hit...the early days that will happen. Removing all gluten is not easy and needs to be accomplished during a time that most of us are not at our strongest to begin with. As for your MIL...let's give her the benefit of the doubt for now...I'm assuming it is early in her learning everything gluten too. It is possible that...
  3. I have a letter from my doctor that I carry so that if anyone ever questions concessions I am asking for can see it...have yet to show it, but it is nice to have when traveling. The bracelet became more important for me as I was having severe breathing and anaphylaxis induced by excercise, heat and some foods (not gluten). Make sure your electronic...
  4. How'd I miss this for so long? Anywhoo...I started wearing one when my silly reaction to exercise got a bit dicey -- coincided with my intolerances causing more scary reactions. is nice because i never have to carry id anymore when out exercising...doubles as my "RoadID" -- front has med sh!t and back has my name DOB DL# ICE (hubs cell phone ...
  5. PS... Here is a thread that can help you and your family transition a bit more quickly to completely gluten-free for your son: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/
  6. Welcome! My guess is you indeed have Celiac Disease. Here is the key: You somehow managed to have a positive tTG-IgA while having insufficient Total Serum IgA. -- Immunoglobulin A (IgA) - 64 mg/DL - range 70-410 They only ran AGA-IgA -- I would strongly suggest getting the following tests missing from your panel: DGP - both IgA...
  7. Snickerdoodle = cinnamon sugar cookie So to make my limited diet sound more fun to me....I come up with silly names. Doing a lot of mind tricks to make my food more interesting while I hang with the ubber safe foods.....ive had spiraled sweet potatoes for three days straight....but one day white...one day orange....and last night was bright purple...
  8. What does the rash look like? Take a look in the DH photo bank. A biopsy can be taken for DH....but not all dermatologists do this correctly...and I doubt any primary. I had a red welty type itchy rash for about six weeks prior to dx and it did wax and wain until completely gone --- can't remember how long but it was at least a month or two.
  9. Referance ranges vary between labs...that is why it is important to include ranges when discussing any lab work. The test you posted was indeed negative. Do you know if you had a Total Serum IgA test? This test measures the amount of IgA to see if you have enough to make the IgA based antibody tests (tTG, DGP, AGA) valid. How long have you been gluten...
  10. Dermatitis Herpetiformis....or DH for short. How long have you had this rash? Is it itchy? A little or a lot?
  11. Deep Fryer sounds good...purrfect for that three year badge you all have going on over there. Hmmm...after the reminder of the great Dolphin adventure I think I had better come up with something better than the spiralizer I treated myself to this year...oh wow next one will be my 5th SillyBday...
  12. Hmmm...no official promotion timeline that I am aware of....you certainly sound a few clicks past Newbie to me. If we are talking rewards...I'm thinking an appropriate chart might be: one week one month three months six months one year each year thereafter.... oops and nine months of course guess that means it is time for more than one...
  13. oops...hope you didn't think me serious....just playin'
  14. ewww....I just had visions from the movie "Ted" -- oh my goodness -- now I picture poor Nicole being invaded by the MIL, her bears and that little pervy "Ted" -- hmmm maybe that might be fun after all...but still have to scrub me eyeballs from the visual of how she got more relaxed...thanks for that
  15. Most days that is the perfect reward...then there are the times we need more -- Cheer! Gadgets! or Sparkly/Shiny things..... then there are those days where we need to have a pity party and stomp our feet...only advice there is Duck and Cover
  16. Most awesome....SnickerDoodle Mousse for me again tomorrow...hoping to get it to firm up in the frig....the choc version tastes creamier without freezing....of course that means more coconut oil...but not getting much fat elsewhere so I am not feeling guilty...nope.
  17. yes indeedy....I think Always has a good idea...time to find a new kitchen gadgy as reward.
  18. I hear you...and I have been having small amounts of histamine over the past months...occasionally more than a small amount of wine...but after last week I am tiptoeing around my food this week
  19. Here you go.... Wrong year....yet heartfelt!
  20. Yum...Welcome to the Dinner Thread...glad to have you and your dinner sounds delicious
  21. Huh...how does the Chicken Skin react with you? Since I've given up so many other things - stealing Crunchy Chicken Skins has before meat hits the table has become a guilty pleasure for me.
  22. So I am still on extremely limited Meat, Z- or Sweet Potato Spirals with Veggie meals which is boring and have not helped the men cook their food in over a week... but I did make a twist on my old Chocolate Mousse Recipe -- trying to limit even Choc for a bit -- Hubby walked in and asked what I was making but I had no idea...it is now called "Snickerdoodle...
  23. no capabilty for fun smileys on this computer so I'll just yell...... Happy Happy 3rd Anniversary to you...can't imagine this place without ya!
  24. No GERD, but son has had a variation of GERD for about 10 years. Listen to Gemini....it is all about the inflammation in the body....amazing how many things are finally improving for me now that I am improving in that respect. Sadly it did take quite a while....those of us with inflammation and other AI symptoms often take a bit longer to see improvement...
  25. I am currently reading a book entitle "Asthma as an Inflammatory Disease" simply because I ordered the wrong volume of three regarding Inflammatory Disease...and thought why not. When it comes to Inflammation in the body our doctors are as woefully undereducated as they are about Functional Digestive Disorders....while I'm waiting for them to catch up...
