  1. I think it is the toughest when children or teens don't test positive but have numerous symptoms. All of my children and grandkids are now gluten free with improved health -- I was the first dx'd 4 years ago, followed by my then 18 month old grandson and 25 year old daughter - my 15 year old at the time had been sick on and off for several years with...
  2. Has your older son been tested? All first degree relatives should...but your comment about your son's schoolwork made me ask. You see my youngest tested negative at 13 -- yet his scholastic focus improved exponentially as we became a gluten free home a few years ago. He also lost his muscle/joint pain that was recurrent since he was a small child. Not...
  3. Welcome Mom and Baby Girl!!! Here is the good news....may of us have reached the end of our ropes -- some several times -- but we are willing to pass our ropes to others to give you a bit more line. Hang in there -- it does get better
  4. We don't use this brand -- but digestive enzymes are helpful -- nothing allows someone with Celiac Disease to eat gluten safely, but enzymes and other methods can relieve symptoms from accidental glutening.
  5. Not sure I'd call it a symptom...but I was like that for most of my life. I think it was likely because when I ate -- I felt lethargic, nauseous and "overfull". Welcome! If you suspect Celiac Disease - get tested. Do not remove gluten until the tests are complete as the Celiac Antibody Panel measures antibodies created in response to gluten ingested...
  6. I missed that solo dealio earlier --- safe travels Irish! Schedule lots of fun each day
  7. Agreed It is Comic-Con Week around here -- my 18 year old graphic novelist's 13th Con! I'll be going for one day -- I've missed the past three years do to my silly body -- might need to borrow Mr. Freeze's suit to make it thru the heat of The Hall -- been along time since the boys and I had the run of the place with no lines or crowds!! Dinner...
  8. Great to see you! Thanks for re-posting your recipe Hope your health improves and the job isn't too stressful.
  9. Try to jot down how you have been feeling these past few days gluten-free and if any changes occur adding it back in -- I don't think it has been long enough for real data....but all symptom changes should be noted. Oh...and if adding gluten back -- no need to overdo it until testing...just a slice or two of gluten containing bread is what is suggested...
  10. There are a few DAO supplements out there -- they did not help me. High Histamine foods are not like gluten...it may be you can tolerate some or small quantities...but too many or certain foods within the group can cause issues. I don't know if histamine is the cause of your symptoms...but you could test by removing histamine foods for a week or...
  11. If you decide to pursue testing....start eating gluten as soon as possible. The antibody tests are not perfect -- all I can suggest is keep eating gluten until they are complete. Given your other diagnoses -- I think it would be wise to be tested. If you are Celiac and you don't get tested -- it can be very difficult to return to eating gluten for...
  12. Welcome Debra! Always great to have another join this thread
  13. I checked my boys this morning...we all have below the line or shorter -- thinking I may be checking everyone I meet for a bit --- especially the over 70 never been sick a day in their life crowd!
  14. Good Morning- Your diet is very healthful and I can understand the frustration as I had many setbacks eating very healthy foods. The thing that stands out to me is there are quite a few high histamine foods. Banana, eggs, berries, avocado, processed turkey (applegate is a fantastic brand, but may not be safe if histamine is an issue). The main enzyme...
  15. My daughter and I both have these symptoms. When I was first dx'd my gastro symptoms improved with the complete removal of gluten -- but the autoimmune symptoms all worsened with time. If you are anemic it is possible you have not yet healed enough to be properly absorbing nutrients. Have you had other nutrient testing, besides iron? My Celiac Doc...
  16. I just came to look for those myself....Simona must have used a character for these measurements that didn't transfer properly after the big forum upgrade of '12! Anyone else have a hard copy of this recipe floating around? I'll PM Simona -- not sure if she is still hanging about.
  17. Son fine tuning his crock pot chili today -- so I think I'll whip up some cornbread muffins to go with that this evening. Just saw this photo and found it kinda interesting - mostly because one of my fifth digits is shorter -- Braly's Sign was first described in 1953 by an English Gastroenterologist, Dr James Braly. The majority of Celiac patients have...
  18. I was every six months for the first two years until both my celiac panel and nutrients were all good. Now I get them all annually. I agree with Lisa and Peter -- get them done while you have insurance -- along with any other tests you can think of. We remain insured but this past few years our coverage has increased at a ridiculous rate which has...
  19. So sorry Keep hanging tough!!!
  20. You are welcome...I've been meaning to find them again for some time....this time I bookmarked the post
  21. I agree with this. You certainly have plenty of symptoms that are associated with Celiac Disease. Call your doctor - ask to have a complete celiac antibody panel run just as soon as possible. How long have you been eating gluten-free? It is important to eat at least a slice or two of gluten containing bread each day until the blood tests are run...
  22. Here you go: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/94916-best-bread-recipe/?p=811764
  23. Even if your laptop is not repairable...you can have the hard drive pulled and copied onto a new one....I do hope it is an easy repair...none of us want you to lose your recipes!!!
  24. sons saved my tomato plants they now have baby gates surrounding them....oops...guess this should be in the garden thread -- oh well -- pretend. Meatloaf Parsnips Broccolini Popcorn and Ice Cream at the fancy movie theater for dessert -- son gets us in for free -- i pay for snacks at his discounted rate
  25. Nothing is the same as white gluten-filled sandwich bread...but we think Glutino's Genius White is pretty darn good. Canyon Bakehouse's Mountain White is very good...but not really white. We use Udi's too -- better toasted. We made our own for quite a long while....but never got bread that kept well and got tired of trying to keep up with hungry teens
