  1. I think its a wonderful idea. We have a totally gluten free café and bakery in our town, and we love it. It is only opened during the day. I would love to have one that is opened in the evening too. This business started with just one gluten free bakery, than expanded in a suburb opening the gluten free café and they sell the bakery items there also, ...
  2. We love whole foods (I don't love the prices!) but there are a few things we buy there a lot. First, if you want to make pies (fruit, quiche, chicken pot pie) we love their brand of frozen pie crust. The best! I take it to Holidays for get togethers, and no one knows its gluten-free. There are 2 in a package in the freezer. We also love the Against the...
  3. Our Walmart carries the gluten free chicken strips, but does not have a "gluten free section". Ours are in the freezer isle that is labeled "healthy entrees" or something like that. It is where the Amy's frozen meals are and the Veggie meals. They are in a green bag. We like them, but there are normally only 4 strips per a bag. My kids will each eat 2 (more...
  4. Sorry she is getting sick. Our experiences at PFChangs has always been great. My daughter and I are very sensitive to cross contact. We can not eat out at very many places, but we have eaten at multiple PFChangs in multiple states when we travel, and have always done great. From my knowledge, they do a great job in the kitchen of keeping things seperate....
  5. We do our standard go to chains when traveling. There is a PFChangs (our favorite restaruant for gluten free food. They have a great menu and do a great job in the kitchen of keeping things seperate to help prevent cross contact) in Anaheim, and also a Outback. They might have multiple locations in Orange County. Those are our favorite chains that have good...
  6. I am thankful your Chipolte is good with handeling the gluten free meal well. Thats great. Maybe more of the restaurants will get on board with this. I did get a response today from Chipolte saying thanks for the message and they will make sure they do some educating with their staff in allergans. I was thankful for the response. I do think alot of times...
  7. We had a not so great experience recently at a Chipotles. The staff member did not realize what gluten free was, and was a little confused. We had not tried Chipotles for years due to some previous not so great experiences, so we decided to try it again. We did not end up staying and eating this time. Too much confusion and cross contact. Not sure if we...
  8. I've always wondered the same thing. We were out of town, and had checked on the internet before going about places who offered gluten free food. I checked one of them out, and they stated on their menu something about that their food was not for Celiacs due to the chance of cross contact due to prep and cooking, but that it was only for those who wish to...
  9. I was just trying to clarify my earlier post on the hamburgers and Chili. Like I said, Its been a while back Things could be different now!!
  10. The hamburgers weren't old, but if there were extra on the grill that weren't selling, they had a pan on the back of the grill that the put the burgers in. They were later chopped up and made into chili for the next day. I used to make their chili
  11. We can't eat the Chili at Wendys. We have tried different times over the years, and we have gotten sick everytime. To make the chili, they use the hamburger patties that are on the grill that don't get sold. (at least that is how they did it when I worked there back in the day). Maybe they have changed their practices, but with the buns on the grill, they...
  12. The recipe I use is from Jules gluten free site (I use her flour! So good) but it makes a great pie crust. Open Original Shared Link If I don't have time to make homemade, I buy the gluten free pie crust at Whole Foods. So yummy. They do have butter in them (if you can tol milk products) but they are great. I always keep some in my freezer just in case...
  13. We have used everything from Gluten Free Graham Crackers (I can only find them locally at my whole foods) Kinnikinnick S'moreables® Graham Style Crackers or their Animal style crackers - both worked good. Also, the Schar shortbread cookies would work (whole foods or Sprouts) ... not sure what stores you have around you. Good luck!
  14. So sorry. We eat at our local ChickFila too much! But we always ask to talk to one of the managers or leads. We ask them to prepare it fresh, and change gloves, and they do a great job. We haven't been glutened in 4 years at our local one (an we are sensitive to cross contact). We do try and go off hours if possible, but not always able to with our schedule...
  15. My family and I will be traveling to Flagstaff AZ at the end of October and we have never eaten gluten free in Flagstaff. I am wondering if anyone has any tips on Restaurants. Our motel sadly does not have a kitchen (which is what we normally do when we travel so we can fix our own food). We will have a microwave and small fridge is all. I know about Picazzo...
  16. We have not been to Breckenridge, but if there is a Bubba Gumps there, we would recommend it. We ate at Bubba Gumps for an entire week while in California on vacation in the Universal Studio area. We are sensitive to cross contact, and never got sick. My kids enjoyed it also.
  17. Thanks for the info on the old Picazzos on Warner Road. I wonder why it was the same chef, pretty much the same menu, but a different name. I called them, wanting desert. They no longer have the gluten free cheesecake or the gluten free apple crisp. I was alitte sad about that, as we loved their deserts. They still have their hot chocolate chip cookie...
  18. My family loves this popcorn. We have been eating for a long time. We buy the snack size bags at Sams Club in a case of 28 for something like 9$ or so. I love having the individual bags. The kids can grab one when we are running out the door to a friends or they have to go to a bday party or need a snack for something. It is super cheap at Sams Club. I have...
  19. We really enjoyed this chicken from costco. We have eaten it twice now with no gluten effects. My daughter and I are very sensitive to cross contact, but we did not get sick. We have no food intolerances except gluten from Celiac. I normally don't buy such processed food, but have been down to to surgery, and my husband has been doing all the cooking. ...
  20. I found the restaurant that used to be at Picazzos on Warner Road. It looks like the menu is very similar. The only downside is that Picazzo's had gone to all gluten free pasta to decrease risk of cross contact, but this new restaurant offers wheat pasta. Not sure how well they do of keeping things seperate in the back since Picazzos was so good at it. ...
  21. Tom I called them.(same phone number) It is the same manager there that was with Picazzos. Not sure what happened. The menu looks very similar. I just hope they keep the same good practices of keeping things seperate in the kitchen. We haven't tried it yet, but sure we will soon. Not sure why it all changed hands. Darissa
  22. We have eaten at Picazzos several times. We were visiting the one in Tempe/Chandler, ( 440 west warner road) but it has now changed hands is no longer a Picazzos.I've heard the new restaurant still has a gluten free menu, but we have not been there since it changed hands. I was sad they changed hands since that is the one that was fairly close to us. I love...
  23. Have you considered ChickFilA? Their Frys are always gluten free, no matter what store. They cook them seperate than the chicken. Their grilled chicken is also gluten free, also many of their salads are safe, including the green salads, the coleslaw and carrot salad. Their ice cream is safe too. Just ask to talk to a manager, ask them to prep it seperately...

    ARCHIVED Chipotle

WOW what a great experience. We've never had that kind of experience at Chipotles. Maybe they have changed their practices. Do you mind telling what City you were in? I've asked for new/uncross contacted containers of the food, and they always say they don't have any, only what is on the line. They have never offered to get new containers, even after...
  25. We went to SeaWorld last week in San Diego. We were pleasantly surprised, as we had been there last year as well. The managers are now trained in different Allergens, including gluten. You need to task for the managers at each of the restaurants. We really were inpressed with Alex at Calipso Bay. He was very knowledegable about Celiac. He got our food...
