We bought the Kernel Popcorn Seasoning butter flavored from Walmart this week. It says gluten free right on the cap. I contacted the company 12-2011, and here is their response to their flavorings. I was happy!! Darissa, Thank you for your interest in Kernel Season's Popcorn Seasoning! Yes, all of our products are Gluten Free and certified as such... -

ARCHIVED Who Makes Best Pizza Crust?
Darissa replied to ScarlettsMommy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Homemade is my favorite. We have tried so many store bought crust. The only crust I use that is store bought is from Gluten Free Creations in Phoenix. It is a bakery that is totally gluten free. It is a thin crust. Many resturants in the Phoenix area use it as their gluten free crust. You can order online. But we have been baking homemade pizza crust for... -
Outback also has a gluten free brownie served with ice cream that is really good. We ate at the Outback twice last week while we were there off the I-5 in Mission Valley. I hope you are enjoying your stay. The PFChangs there is great. We ordered a head of time and picked it up to go since that area was so busy all the time while we were there.

We ate at a wonderful Mexican Resturant in Old Town this week. Close to Hotel Circle. Not within walking distance, but could take a cab. And boy, the food is worth it. They have a menu, front and back, of their gluten free food. The chips are fried seperate for gluten free. Tell them when you talk to the hostess that you need a gluten free menu and chips...

I am traveling soon to San Diego (will be staying in Old Town area) but will have car and can drive to other areas. I am just looking for good suggestions for resturants with gluten free menus. Anything would be helpful! I've never been to San Diego! Thanks in advance!

Patti - Phillips Lemon Chicken is my daughters favorite. Our local PFChangs will still make it for her. You might ask if yours will too. I was sad they took some dishes off the gluten free menu. I hope they bring more of them back. We were there just a few weeks ago, and they still made the lemon chicken! Good luck!

We love the Gluten Free menu at PFChangs! We have eaten at PFChangs at several locations throughout different states. It is out go-to resturant if we are traveling (because my daughter and I are very sensitive to cross contamination) and I don't want to be sick when traveling! We enjoy the entire gluten free menu. Everything from the lettuce wraps, to...

We love ChickFilA fries. That is our special treat if we are out and about. We ask them to cook a fresh batch, and to change their gloves and tell them we have a gluten "allergy". (I know! I know! Its not an allergy) but we enjoy their fries. And we get their ice cream in a cup and dip our fries in it! Yum!

ARCHIVED Time To Start Packing School Lunches Again
Darissa replied to Darissa's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks to you both! I like the chart idea. Sometimes just visualizing the options makes it easier for me and her to choose what to pack! Also, I love that website with the lunch ideas. She has some great ideas too. Thanks for replying! We've packed gluten-free lunches for almost 3 years now, but seem to be in a rut, so it will be great with new... -

ARCHIVED Time To Start Packing School Lunches Again
Darissa posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Well, its back to school time here in Arizona. I feel like I fix the same things over and over again for my daughter for her lunches. She loves homemade soup or stew in a hot thermos, but not this time of year (its way to hot here to go out to recess at school, than come in and eat hot soup for lunch). We also do cold smoothies in the thermos, and gluten... -

How do they do with regards to preventing cross contamination? I have never eaten there. Just wondering. Would like to try it. Wondering if they use seperate toppings and sepearate screens or something similar to cook them on. We are very sensitive to cross contamination. Thanks for any input. -

Darissa replied to Kelleybean's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
We LOVE LOVE LOVE Snickerdoodles at our house. I have made the recipe from the general mills site and love them. I have also made the recipe from the cake mix doctor, but like the general mills recipe much much better. We took them to families at church last week, and everyone loved them. They couldn't believe they were gluten-free. ALso, a note. Alot... -

ARCHIVED Need Fluffy Biscuits
Darissa replied to maximoo's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
We have made biscuits with the gluten-free Bisquick and Pamelas. I love Pamelas for a lot of things, but prefer the gluten-free Bisquick for Biscuits. They are different than the old gluten filled biscuits, but we really like them. Especially when I'm splurging on calories and need a comfort meal and we make biscuts and gravey! Try them! You might be surprised... -

ARCHIVED Gluten-Free Rice Krispies
Darissa replied to killernj13's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I haven't seen them in Arizona yet, but I can't wait!! My kids are excitied. I have checked Frys (krogger) Walmart and Safeway. Hopefully they will find there way here soon! I love the Snyders gluten-free pretzels. The best gluten-free pretzels out there in my opinion! I can't wait to find individual snack bags. That will make it nice for the kids. -

ARCHIVED Does Anyone Carry Allergy Or Gluten Cards?
Darissa replied to shayre's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
We have a letter from our Pediatric GI doc that states her name with her diagnosis of Celiac and her dietary restrictions. That way, if we run into problems, I do have that letter to show. But mostly, I just email the companies prior to attending the event or activity, tell them the situation, and ask if they can accomidate the gluten free menu, and if not... -

ARCHIVED Rudy's Multi-Grain Bread At Costco!
Darissa replied to Monklady123's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Our Costco does not have Rudi's bread. I hope it is something they will carry soon. It is good, I've bought it before at Whole Foods. I would love 2 loafs for 6.99!! Wow. I've checked 2 different Costco's in the Phoenix area and they don't have it yet. Thanks for the post. I'll keep looking. -

ARCHIVED Disneyland - gluten-free Restaurant List As Of April 2011
Darissa replied to love2blog's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Just an FYI - We love Disneyland and when we go, we love to eat at the Carnation Cafe on Main Street. They always take great care of us, and the price is right. This was mine and my kids favortie place to eat. For a splurge, we ate at Goofy's Kitchen for breakfast so the kids could see more charactors. They did a great job as we did not eat off the buffet... -

ARCHIVED Is Ocella Birth Control Gluten-Free?
Darissa replied to caberma's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I take generic Yasmin (Ocella)and I am very sensitive to CC. Our entire house is gluten free, so when I am exposed to gluten (mainly eating out due to CC) I am very sick, rather quickly. And I have never had trouble with Ocella. Good luck! -
Thank You. I think that I will contact them. Chipotles used to be a favorite prior to going gluten-free. And when we travel, it would be nice because there are so many Chipotles around different areas.
 -
Wow that's great they do that for you. Our Chiptoles here (I've asked at least 3 different ones) won't do that. Maybe I won't give up on Chiptoles and try a different one here in the Valley. It would be nice to be able to eat there again. They have great food. Thanks for the info.
