  2. Hi Jen, Also I didn't see if anyone mentioned this but you said the dermatologist directly biopsied the rash. That may be a reason for a false negative. If they aren't familiar with DH (as raven mentioned find one who is) then they may not have known that they should take the biopsy from the edge next to the lesion, not from within.
  3. Bonnie - I too had to drop the dairy. I tested positive for antibodies to the protein in cow's milk but I didn't cut it out right away. After a few weeks of getting better when I went gluten-free I started to decline again. I had to eliminate cow's milk and soy. I can tolerate goat's milk (don't like the taste though) and goat cheese (love the taste!). But...

  5. Ok, I feel compelled to say this. We've gone from constructive discussion about how we might have been able to reach him to questioning his parenting, drinking, and whether he even has a son. Really people? Based off a handful of angry, argumentative, blame-shifting posts? Heck, there have been times in my life where I probably would have sounded just like...
  6. Jay, have you been tested for Lyme disease? You remind me of a guy who came to our GiG meeting last year. He finally got diagnosed with Lyme disease as well as celiac disease and is finally starting to heal up. Lyme disease can present the same way that celiac disease does. If you compare the list of most common 75 symptoms of celiac disease and Lyme, it...
  7. You know, if enough people really want a live, real-time chat room that would be available 24/7 - for those who deal with insomnia too and want to get on IRC, I could certainly put a bot in a password protected chat room that you could only get the password from others on this forum or that choose to share the password. That can help keep the l33t IRC kiddies...
  8. Additionally you might look around for a CSA (community farm). Buying a share or portion of a share can help ease some of the financial strain if you have a family that has been living on the traditional western processed food diet. You normally get 26-35 weeks of various veggies delivered/picked up once a week during the growing season and for the average...
  9. Ditto. My average daily intake of water is in excess of a gallon/4 liters. Watch your sodium levels though. You might actually want to get them checked and get a CBC workup. I had to increase my sodium as it was one of the things I was not absorbing properly.
  10. Our whole house went gluten-free/CF/SF. (gluten-free, casein-free, soy-free). It helped (I guess) that my wife later (several months) got tested for some other food intolerances and she has a number of other food issues - the only ones we have in common are casein and soy. But where it will get interesting will be when you find out if you become more sensitive...
  11. Does he drink any alcohol in any form? If you are having a B12 deficiency issue, alcohol is one of the worst things you can drink. Even a small amount of alcohol can cause your body to consume your B12 reserves overnight as it is used during the metabolism/conversion of the alcohol.
  12. I've posted about the GAPs a bit too. It was what kicked my body into actually starting to heal properly. That said, I still (two+ years later) cannot tolerate refined or processed carbs or grains hardly at all. Potatoes are ok, fresh corn is ok, but processed or refined grains, flours, starches, etc, pretty much do me in. I can get away with a single serving...
  13. Don't need scott to set one up. You can download an IRC client (mIRC for you windows users) and join/create a chat room on any of several dozen IRC (Internet Relay Chat) networks. I looked around a couple years ago when I was first DX and was really surprised that there was no #celiac or #glutenfree on EFNet. I used to help OP several singles chat rooms years...
  14. Burning down the mountain - Steve Vai
  15. Bad Boys Running Wild - Scorpions
  16. My Dad lived with Untreatable Chemical Depression for decades. The would change his meds periodically as they would stop working. At time of diagnosis he was on three different meds. Two years gluten-free/CF/SF and he is down to 1/2 dose of anti-anxiety med as needed.
  17. Come Hell or High Water - Poison
  18. Stress.... Grrr....when I was 20 I went to the Dr. with chest pains symptomatic of possible heart condition. I was in good shape physically, well conditioned, etc. I worked a lot of hours though (two jobs) and drank a lot of coffee. I mean a lot. Like I'd finish an entire pot between 0430 and 0600. Then I'd finish another half a pot in two hours. And I'd...
  19. In and of itself that diet should be gluten-free. However that assumes a gluten-free household, cutting boards, etc. But looking at your post there are three things that jump out a me immediately. Nutrition: That diet appears very questionable for nutritional content, especially given the boiled veggies. So I assume (hope) you are taking some nutritional...
  20. With a Little help from my friends - cheap trick/beatles
  21. Need your love so bad - Eva Cassidy
  22. Baby, it's cold outside - Bing Crosby & Doris Day
  23. Merry CHristmas to You - Reba McEntire
  24. Falling Off - Aerosmith
  25. Oh and all of that was to say: for a Celiac, there is no such thing as cheating. There is no such thing as 'just a little bit'. It's like saying a little bit of cyanide, or a little bit of arsenic, or a little bit of killing yourself years earlier.
