  1. I'd suggest you purchase a copy of the 'Red Book' Diagnosing Celiac Disease and sit down with her to look through it. Also take a look at this incomplete list: Open Original Shared Link Since this list was produced there has a study done showing a possible link to Addisons, and one of the genes (DQ6) linked to Celiac has also been shown to have a strong...

  7. It is possible you picked up a low grade C.Diff infection. Unfortunately this is becoming more and more common. The Boulardii occupies the same niche in the intestinal tract that C.Diff does. It is a (good) yeast and will help displace C.Diff if that is what you are fighting. It would be much better to deal with it via PB and Boulardii than antibiotics because...

  16. Arrghh!!!! I disagree most strongly and vociferously! Barley malt is in many seasonings, dressings, vinegar, etc, etc. Restaurants serve rye bread all the time! We used to toast bread on the grill when we served it with soup! That type of thinking is dangerous for a known Celiac. I have other words I want to use but I'm being polite. I agree that...

  18. My wife is a Pampered Chef consultant and I love our baking stones for pizza. But you have to precook almost every type of gluten-free crust. I prefer a coconut flour/almond meal/egg crust. It gets nice and crisp.
  19. I have found that I have to be as careful about soy CC as I do gluten CC. I don't eat anything that is produced on shared equipment that has either.
  20. Also watch out for soy lecithin. It is used as an emulsifier in everything from chocolate, to tea, to dairy alternative nut milks. Soy lecithin made me sick for quite a while because while I was looking for soy/soya I was overlooking the soy lecithin.
  21. Get some probiotics (PB8 or PB10) and a couple bottles of Saccharomyces boulardii. Take the boulardii on an empty stomach though. See if that helps. If you can tolerate dairy, empty a couple capsules of the PB into a room temp serving of live culture yogurt and let it sit for about 10 minutes after you mix it in. PB's should be refrigerated as they are live...
  22. Really good point. That's why I insist with our Dr. that both my wife and I get them checked every three months. My Dr. has me on 8,000 Units a day and she is on 2,000 units a day. I don't need to take E or K supplements any more, but you bring up a really good point and while I think about it, I forget that a lot of people don't realize that danger. Any...
  23. Just remember that vitamin D and vitamin K are FAT soluble vitamins. If you don't take in an adequate amount of fats or oils your body will NOT absorb them properly, if at all. This can be exacerbated by the usual celiac disease issues of malabsorption. So I would suggest that you either take a liquid form (such as a fish oil) or take it with a good dose...

    ARCHIVED #*@($ !#*^% Doctor!

I'm not totally defending her not telling you, but it is possible that she HAD to put that down in order to get your insurance or medical coverage to cover the testing. I have a Dr. who has been educated a lot by me on this (as most of us do), and she has often asked me leading questions or put things down in order to have a required diagnostic code to get...
  25. Ditto for me on the soy issue too. Even minute amounts of soy trigger a whole ton of neurologic/CNS (myoclonic/muscle fasciculation, hot flashes, tachycardia) and psych issues (panic attacks, depression, insomnia). Soy actually hits me harder and faster at the neuro level than gluten does and takes anywhere from one to two weeks for me to recover from.
