ARCHIVED Why Does It Hurt So Much?
KaitiUSA replied to missla3000's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Don't expect to feel better so soon. I had good and bad days and didn't get alot better until the 3rd month. It took me a few months more to get back to normal. Some people do heal quicker then others. Your body is going through a healing process and it takes some time to feel better. There is not a time limit you could feel better in days, weeks, months... -
ARCHIVED Supplements We Can Have?
KaitiUSA replied to missla3000's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
What are the ingredients? We may be able to help. Some anticaking agents are fine but wheat as an anti caking agent is not. I'm sure if that one is not ok there is one that is ok. My mom takes some kind of kelp capsule right now. -
ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed Stress
KaitiUSA replied to Emme999's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Your not being oversensitive. It's a HUGE deal! It may seem like an easy change but it's not. Your boyfriend and family don't seem very supportive. You learn real quick who is on your side. My extended family think I overreact. Your boyfriend needs to realize this is serious if you don't get all the gluten out of your diet....so does your family. This is... -
ARCHIVED How Do You Reward Yourself?
KaitiUSA replied to Wandering Hermit's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Being healthy is reward enough for me. Not being sick and feeling like crap everyday is reward enough. I have become a better person throughout this experience and do not take my health forgranted because it can be gone just like that. I sometimes treat myself to a starbucks and when I know I am going out places I will go get a candy bar and put one in... -
Jenn- I take CompleteGest by Enzymatic Therapy(capsule form) I get them at Vitamin Shoppe or Roots(a health food store) You could get them pretty much at any health food store I would think.

Sally- I had a stool test done in January of 2004 that showed candida...they were not even looking for it but thats what they found. The doctor I had at the time blew me off with that and just sort of overlooked that test result. I did not get treated for it until this year...I was on Nystatin for over a month and it has seemed to clear it all up. There...

ARCHIVED Gf Make-up
KaitiUSA replied to jknnej's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Most common store brands contain wheat starch. My mom had to change her nail polish so she would not have wheat on them while preparing food for me. Here is a brand that has gluten free nail polish: -
Yes do not go gluten-free until all testing is complete. Do remember though if there is sporadic damage or no damage yet they may miss a diagnosis but you still may have it. There are some blood tests that are specifically for celiac and have a slim to none chance of false positives.

ARCHIVED Oats
KaitiUSA replied to Rufus376's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
There has been research done that says SOME celiacs may be able to tolerate oats BUT all of the US oats are contaminated with wheat. I strongly oppose them due to contamination. Welcome to the board! -
I have the same problem. I am too the point at church when they serve communion I have to go out of the room because I get feeling like I can't breathe right....same way around other wheat. I think I may be allergic to wheat as well because I can't be around it. I agree with Richard it may be you are allergic to wheat too but it could be a psychological...

KaitiUSA replied to debbie-doodles's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I also check labels still. We stock up on bread, rolls, and muffins. I keep most in the freezer. It keeps them better longer that way. -

Candida is an overgrowth of yeast. I have (or now you can say had)candida in the small intestine. Symptoms can sort of mimic celiac symptoms too. After being on medication to get rid of the infection everything seems fine now O another thing I recommend...Probiotics are supposed to help with candida because of the good bacteria it puts out so I recommend...

ARCHIVED Gf Food For Sale
KaitiUSA replied to Jaimashi's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
How exactly were you misdiagnosed with celiac? Were blood tests or biopsies positive? How did they diagnose you to begin with?...if you get tests done that come back positive there is like a slim to none chance that they are wrong. Alot of doctors do not know alot about celiac disease to begin with. -
It varies from person to person..depends on the overall health, age, damage to the intestines and so forth of a person. I had to be on Nystatin for over 1 month... Food allergies can be linked with celiac...I for one do not have any additional issues with other foods but some people do have them

I have candida and was on Nystatin for a round of it and I've had no problems since. I do not follow the candida diet, just the gluten free diet. I would go get something to take care of the infection. The diet could definitely help control it. The things your doctor also said you have..osteoporosis etc. are very much related to celiac being untreated for...

ARCHIVED 2 Celiac Genes But Negative Test Results
KaitiUSA replied to cornbread's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes being gluten free could cause your levels to go back to normal. You know you have a problem with gluten so avoid it. You could very well be celiac or just gluten intolerant but either way you must avoid gluten. -
ARCHIVED New To This Forum, Gf Since 3/04
KaitiUSA replied to keenpetite's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
As said in the previous post...everyones reactions are different. I do not get pain..I get nausea and I can usually tell right away. My reactions last about 2 weeks and the 7th day is usually the worst. Wow in 90 your doctor told you since you weren't anemic you didn't have celiac...sounds like the typical doctor. Not everyone even gets symptoms and... -

ARCHIVED Can I Get Diagnosed After 2 Years Gluten Free?
KaitiUSA replied to Tom15034's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You can NOT get an accurate biopsy now...your villi in your intestines would be healed. If you have been gluten free for a year and a half you can not get an accurate blood test or biopsy. Another test you might want to consider is an Enterolab. www.enterolab.com They do not require you to get back on gluten unless you have been off of gluten more then...
