ARCHIVED Stange Sensations In Gut
KaitiUSA replied to Wandering Hermit's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The reason why I recommend liquid vitamins is because of the way your body absorbs them. I especially recommend this at first, when the intestines are healing. I like Liquid Vitamins Plus by Utrition. They say ultra absorbable on the front of the bottle. Probiotics are great because they help fight infection and boost your immune system by giving good... -

ARCHIVED Diagnosed When?

celiac3270- I'm 5'3....so weight wise I'm in the normal range -
I don't think it is because of the gluten free diet unless you aren't getting a balanced diet. Not having the proper amounts of food can throw you off. Hypoglycemia and Diabetes are very much connected with celiac so it is possible you have that. Have you got your blood sugar checked by a doctor? You may want to dicuss that and see what action to take...

I don't think it was rude at all. You may want to give a thank you card...thats what I do for everyone who gets me anything. Don't feel bad...I think that was a good way to handle it

ARCHIVED Stange Sensations In Gut
KaitiUSA replied to Wandering Hermit's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
There are some blood tests that are very specific for celiac. I only had blood tests done the doctor didn't even want or need a biopsy because of the results. If you want that diagnosis then go with it but you have to realize it may come back negative if you do not have damage yet but you could still have it. It's really up to you. I think it is a pretty... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Awareness Letter Writing Campaign
KaitiUSA replied to angel-jd1's topic in Publications & Publicity
I emailed about 50 news stations and shows so far. I also put in for the Oprah show and gave my story with a brief letter. I plan to snail mail some companies and am finishing up the letters now...also contacting local stations. -
All I can say is...It takes time. You were only diagnosed in February 2005. For some people it takes a while to heal. It took me 3 months to feel significantly better and then another few months to get back to normal. Also is it possible you could be getting traces into your system? Have you been overall doing better before feeling bad a few days ago? Does...

Yes and with celiac touching gluten will NOT cause a reaction BUT with medical patches they are meant to and made specifically to absorb into your body therefore causing a reaction. I think I read somewhere the patches are gluten free but I do not know.

ARCHIVED Dental Floss?
KaitiUSA replied to Wandering Hermit's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I know when I go to the dentist the stuff they clean my mouth with my mom called about and they told us what flavors were gluten free. My mom wanted to check instead of having the dentist check...just to really hear it with her ears from the company. We get the little toothpick like things with just string on it(not waxed or flavored) -
amanda- medical patches are made especially to get into your system so if a medical patch has gluten in it , it can cause reactions and get into your body because it is designed to do that..so still make sure it is gluten free.

Yes he needs to get a new separate toaster, peanut butter, butter ,jelly, etc. Most schools will not be accomodating gluten free food you will have to pack the lunch for him. If you are looking for a good honey BBQ that is gluten free go with Kraft...all you have to do is check labels with them because they will clearly list wheat, rye, barley, oats. Natural and artificial flavor-always check...questionable. The link celiac3270 gave you will help you with guidelines of what to look for and so forth. This site is great for... -
It probably depends on the Subway you go to...I personally would not get anything from Subway they deal with bread...they touch bread then touch meat or cheese or whatever with their gloves. I used to work at one and that is an easy way to get contaminated.

ARCHIVED Before My Endoscopy...
KaitiUSA replied to egardner's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You should be on gluten heavily before testing. Being off of gluten will give you a possibility of inaccurate results. -
Yes I heard that too...I have moons on 7 or 8 of my fingers but it should be on all 10...I take sublingual B12 as well as a B complex vitamin and liquid vitamins. I was sent an email by Deb a while ago and this is what it said: Good vitamin B12 levels give you white moons on all your fingers; the thumbs' are the last to go. (Tessa Jupp, R.N....

I also agree with you guys about that. I don't quite get it either...life is always busy and hectic but wouldn't you rather be busy feeling good instead of miserable? You will keep having accidents and feeling bad if you are not dedicated to the diet.

Well explained Tiffany. I also know how it is to have family members take it lightly. What I did was email them all something on celiac explaining it to all of them...some still don't get it but thats not my fault. I will always be putting my health first. Many people on here have family members who just don't get it..my parents are great with it but...
