  1. I know! I could not believe all the problems associated with that. I try to stay as far away from it as possible. I occasionally have foods with it in it but I try to keep my intake of it very low...if pregnant women shouldn't have it then why should we?
  2. Most people who can't tolerate lactose can have yogurt. The reason is people who are lactose intolerant lack the lactase enzyme. Yogurt contains this enzyme which helps break down lactose. Yoplait yogurt is great and it has live cultures in it and those are yogurts to look for. Lactose intolerance can come with celiac because of damage to villi. It does...
  3. Yes I use that exact same brand of probiotics now...I used to use enzymatic therapy but they recommended that I switch brands every now and then so I am on those now and I really like them Probiotics in general helped me feel better, I am also on enymes and vitamins so I think that the combo did great for me
  4. I think it would be intimidating to the waiter/waitress but I am not in favor of them, I agree completely with what celiac3270 said.
  5. The first question I have is have you been completely gluten free? Have you checked lipsticks, lotions, shampoos? Anything that has a possibility of getting into your mouth needs to be checked. Have you got a new toaster? Cleaned utensils and pans you cook with?Wash your hands after handling anything containing gluten? It is true it does take time to heal...
  6. Another thing I also noticed that works well is Reed's ginger chews. They work well but not as good as the stuff I previously recommended.
  7. Here are some common reactions in an article I found:
  8. O yes it is horrible for you...it can cause many symptoms. They also tell people that are pregnant to avoid MSG.... read this article:
  9. I have been diagnosed with celiac for 1 year and about 4 months(since January 2004)There are over 200 symptoms with celiac disease. I had nausea, anxiety, and weight loss..they were the main ones. The symptoms of what you are describing are symptoms. I did go pale for a little bit but that wasn't too bad for me but that can happen. I would get tested for...
  10. Hang in there it will be ok. Did they say how sensitive you are to these things? Some people in my family are sensitive to certain things but if they eat them in moderation they can tolerate it just not if they go pigging out on it. You may be able to have these things in moderation. You mentioned you were not only allergic to gluten but wheat,oats...
  11. Just because a biopsy shows no damage does not mean you do not have celiac. You may not have damage at this point or you could have sporadic damage and they got a sample from a section that was not damaged. Obviously you have a problem with gluten...my guess is you are either gluten intolerant or celiac. Listen to your body though..it knows best. What blood...
  12. 30% of people in general have a reaction to MSG. MSG is very bad for you..it is not a gluten reaction. MSG is ok from a celiac standpoint. Alot of people do have problems with MSG though.
  13. Cybros has rice rolls and they are sweetened a bit with honey. They are the one of the best I have tasted... we make bagel bites with them by cutting them in half and then we broil them.. I also eat them on the mornings and put cream cheese or make a cheese sandwich out of them....they are definitely worth trying. We get them at a place called common market...
  14. You could check at other health food stores...we hate ordering online too what we usually do is get the phone # and call our order in...so if you can't find it that's always an idea.
  15. I'm not a catholic and my church allows me to bring my own communion but I really feel for all the catholics that are celiacs. I think it kind of turns people off with the way they are being close minded. It's not about whats in the bread or wafer or whatever...its the symbol... and something between you and God and that should not be rejected.
  16. I was actually diagnosed with celiac about 1 year and 4 months ago in January of 2004. The diet took care of all of my symptoms.I was just diagnosed in march of 05 with graves disease(hyperthyroid) which is highly connected with celiac. My doctor said he rarely sees a celiac with just celiac. Doctors like to do a biopsy but it is not always warranted. I...
  17. You do not have to spend a lot of time with preparing food. There are foods that are easy to prepare or grab as you are headed out. - envirokidz cereal bars -cybros rice rolls -foods by george cinnamon muffins with kraft cream cheese -yoplait yogurt -rice(fry it and put McCormick seasoning in it for flavor)
  18. I would definitely recommend you get tested. There are over 200 symptoms that can come with celiac and symptoms vary from person to person and some may not get symptoms..my main symptoms were nausea, anxiety, and weight loss. I would have both you and your daughter tested...celiac is a genetic autoimmune disorder. Fibromyaglia, chronic fatigue, neuropathy...
  19. Is there any way there could be any gluten slipping into your diet? Any lipsticks/cosmetics/shampoos/soaps/lotions? Have you cleaned your cooking utensils and pans and things you cook with?Got a new toaster? Wash your hands after preparing anything with gluten? Some people just take longer for symptoms to go away. It took me 3 months to feel better and...
  20. Find another doctor. Some people do not get symptoms at all with celiac. There are over 200 symptoms with celiac and not everyone has the same ones. He is one of the many misinformed doctors about celiac. Being diabetic also puts you at risk because that is connected with celiac. I would tell him to get you tested or you will find someone who will....if you...
  21. You may want to check out these following brands until you know what ingredients to look for. On these labels they will say wheat, rye, barley, oats or they will be gluten free: Aunt Nelly's Balance Baskin Robbins Ben & Jerry Betty Crocker Blue Bunny Breyers Campbells Cascadian Farms Celestial Seasonings Country Crock Edy's General Mills Good...
  22. Yeah the bare minerals are a line of bare escentuals i think.
  23. haha that's crazy...just like someone saying to me o this is white bread it's not wheat bread....hello
  24. You can't expect to feel better only after a week. Took me 3 months to feel better and a few more to get back to normal. Did you check all of the ingredients? Was the teryaki sauce gluten free? Was the sausage and hashbrowns a brand that is gluten free? Gluten can be hidden in alot of products that you would not expect. Until your body heals you may have...
  25. I have a list of elmers gluten free products and it says everything is gluten free except finger paints for them. For crayola it is everything except the dough
