  1. gliX-yes oats are not gluten free...very much contaminated...I stay away from them completely. There was a post on here a while back that had a report about oats tested and the numbers of the wheat in them were shocking! Nutritionists don't know everything about celiac...one told me I could have spelt!!! You have to do checking yourself because when it...
  2. gliX-yes both the fries and hash browns are gluten free
  3. Karen What kind of Betty Crocker frosting do you use? All the ones I checked contained wheat starch...maybe they were out of the ones you are talking about....let me know what kind you use...I went then to Pillsbury who used corn starch in theirs. I forgot you live in Canada so it might be different there....
  4. I strongly oppose oats....they are highly contaminated with wheat. Oats themselves are ok but they are highly contaminated so stay away from them is my opinion.
  5. If there is not alot of damage to his intestine then the biopsy you have done may turn out negative. Sometimes the doctors take samples from places that are not damaged when there may be some damage somewhere else and other times there is just no damage yet. Which blood tests did he have done? Did he have EMA and tTG tested for as well? You should...
  6. Wow looks like your family has been through so much..I hope it gets better. If the celiac is not is far stages yet there may not have been any damage to detect in his intestines. Has he been tested for a full celiac panel before? If he was getting better and now after a year getting worse again is there something that is possibly getting in his...
  7. Since he was gluten free at the time of testing the results may not have been accurate. They recommend consuming alot of gluten for 3 months before being tested(blood or biopsies) With celiac some people don't even get symptoms so you can't base it on not being worse since being back on the diet. Good luck
  8. Welcome to the board Everyone here is great and so supportive ...come back and post sometime soon

    ARCHIVED Gastro Dr.

Yeah ask to make sure what test it was. I only had a blood test done because mine was high as well. I did not bother with a biopsy

Did he do tests on you? If so which ones? A family doctor can diagnose you.
  12. It doesn't always contain gluten but it can. If it says gluten free right on it then it's fine.
  13. Michael These are the common tests for celiac: -Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA -Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG -Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA -Anti-TissueTransglutaminase (tTG) IgA -This is tTG -Total Serum IgA
  14. Yeah my doctor had me on a small dose and then got me off of them..never stop without talking to a doctor though it can have really bad side effects.
  15. There are some self diagnosed celiacs on here...is there a need to get the biopsy or testing done? If you are fine with being gluten-free without a diagnosis then do not get back on gluten but if you really want a biopsy to know then the only way to have accurate results is to get back on gluten Good luck
  16. yea never stop without consulting with your doctor first
  17. Your welcome...I'm glad it helped you out
  18. The only reason I was anxious was because of celiac. I was on Lexapro for like a month and then when my body healed my anxiousness went away. It changed my personality while I was on it and made me sober all the time so I'm glad I only had to be on it a short time. My doctor precribed Xanax for me and I am on that for an as needed basis but haven't needed...
  19. Yep that would be why they came back negative. You need to be eating gluten in order to get an accurate reading. When you are gluten free your damage that has been done to your intestines heal and they say usually within 3-6 months the damage is healed. They usually recommend you eating alot of gluten everyday for 3 months for testing(both blood and biopsy...
  20. Yes Celiac disease is a genetic autoimmune disease. Also thyroid is highly connected(I have graves disease-which is hyperthyroid) Liver problems(which you mentioned) can also be connected with celiac. It is commonly misdiagnosed for things such as IBS as well. There are over 200 symptoms with celiac and you don't have to have the same ones...in fact some...
  21. You don't have to have a reaction in order for it to contain gluten....of what Jessica has said with calling the company and all it looks like you were glutened but at least now you know so thats a good thing
  22. Foods By George has awesome English Muffins that come in plain and cinnamon and when they are toasted they even taste better. Kinnikinnick has really good bread and donuts. https://www.celiac.com/st_main.html?p_catid=12 Since he was just diagnosed you may not know to the extent of what the diet is. This link will provide some lists as guidelines...
  23. I don't get my food usually at Target but when I go to stores like that I like to check to see if they have any gluten free products and if they do I'll write a comment and say that I really like them having a gluten free selection and ask them to expand it. I was pleasantly surprised to find some gluten free food there
  24. Karen Maybe that is the way you are getting gluten into your system? Has the totals got any lower since when you were first diagnosed? How long have you been gluten free? I know how rushing to do stuff can be....maybe you could wear disposable gloves and then just take them off when you make your stuff and just put on a new pair when it's time to do your...
  25. In my opinion that brand tastes a little on the burnt side. I use them only for rice krispy treats because they taste the same to me then. I don't eat them plain...for plain cereal I like Envirokidz and Cocoa and Fruity Pebbles.
