  1. I don't know if this is what she is talking about but a bill came out that passed that companies must list whenever their food contains the top 8 allergens(which includes wheat) Even though this won't cover rye, barley, or oats it is a good step for them. Natural flavoring would have to say wheat by it if it contains it, and that kind of thing...I believe...
  2. Well I'm not a parent but it took numerous doctor changes and over a year to figure it out.
  3. I ditto that....you could be sensitive to gluten and just not be celiac. I think that you should do what is best for your body. Your body can tell more then any test.
  4. I hate how long it takes for results but if something comes back positive or something they usually call you pretty quick
  5. Sprue and celiac disease are the same thing. Celiac can be called a # of things and that is one of the names. You don't have to lose weight to have celiac. Just as many people gain weight with it and others are a normal weight. Some people get alot of symptoms and some don't get any at all.
  6. UPDATE on Frosty's Bad news everyone....I would stay away from Frosty's officially now if I were you. These are not safe until otherwise told by the company This is from this site: Open Original Shared Link Gluten Alerts Check this page for important product information, warnings, and alerts. June 9, 2005: Wendy's Restaurants called us back...
  7. Make sure you talk to each individual place. Even with the same chain of a restaurant they still run it differently and may prepare foods differently. I am going to call the Olive Garden near me and see what they have to say about gluten free foods they may offer.
  8. Congrats!! Hope everything goes well...you definitely have to have alot of self discipline for that...your doing great!
  9. That's because it has not been pinned yet. I'll go pin it right now and then it will show up If you go to todays active posts you will see it but until one of the moderators pin it then it will not show up in the section.
  10. I have a question then: If Catholics believe that it is truly transformed to the body and blood of Christ then why can't a wafer made of rice be transformed to the body and blood of Christ too? Why does it have to be that particular ingredient? Christ did not command that it must have a certain ingredient. He did NOT say take this wheat bread in remembrance...
  11. Yea, I love some of these soups too:D
  12. Then your post probably didn't take to the board..sometimes that happens to me to...just write it again and post it
  13. Yep you need the full panel with the IgG , tTG, EMA, and IgA...IgA deficiency would not effect all of them.
  14. I ditto that! Thanks for posting this celiac3270
  15. Michelle- Do they say free of gluten though? I saw vitamins all the time that said free of wheat but not gluten. The problem is that rye, barley, and oats are not major allergens so that could be in there unless stated free of gluten.
  16. Yes, it can be a challenge at first but it gets better. Our diet really is not as limited as you may think. We can have alot of normal chips(Lays staxx, utz, etc) and ice creams and "junk" foods too. A gluten free bread is hard to find...I love the kinnikinnick muffins...they are so soft and I think they taste really good. Foods By George has some great...
  17. If you had a endoscopy done and that was positive then you have celiac. Even if you had symptoms before and don't now that does not matter. Symptoms or not and when they appear or don't appear does not tell anything about celiac. You still are getting damage. I think that this doctor may not know as much about celiac...you were diagnosed because they found...
  18. From Open Original Shared Link : Citric Acid-This ingredient is gluten free In the US it is ok...not sure about outside of the US
  19. yep I can tell
  20. If a doctor told you that you had it then I would say you have it. Doctors don't just diagnose celiac. Alot of doctors don't know what they should either so I think I would believe the one that said you have it. You don't have to have symptoms with celiac and they do not necessarily have to come back. The point is the damage that it is doing will eventually...
  21. The tTG is the only test on there for celiac he is testing for out of those tests. This is a great test and very specific but I would still get the full panel consisting of the following: -Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA -Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG -Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA -Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA -Total Serum IgA The other tests...
  22. Even though many people on here say that they have contacted people and the glue is supposed to be safe..I still avoid licking envelopes. Besides it possibly containing gluten there are so many germs on there. I know a really gross story about licking envelopes and since I heard it I wouldn't even consider licking one.
  23. The Lays Staxx are kind of like pringles and they come in a container similar to pringles. They are really good. I also eat other Lays chips all the time. Basically with everything you eat that is made at a facility where they have wheat and all there will be a chance for cross contamination. However, there are so many gluten free products that are...
  24. They come in multiple flavors....pizza,sour cream&onion, BBQ, original....I don't know if I am missing any...there may be more.
  25. Lays STAXX....they are made on a dedicated gluten free line.
