ARCHIVED Help
Wolicki replied to ragidyann's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
A biopsy after 6 months gluten free will not tell you anything. You probably have additional vitamin deficiencies. Can you ask your doc to run a vitamin panel? -
ARCHIVED Should I Get A Colonoscopy Now?
Wolicki replied to jasonD2's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
did you hear back from your GI about all the problems after the endo? I would think that he would want to address that. -
ARCHIVED Digestive Upsets
Wolicki replied to SGWhiskers's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I think a trip to the GI would be in order, and maybe a colonoscopy. The white stools could be a candida problem, and that's pretty easy to fix. It shouldn't be painful to poop. Maybe you're getting too much fiber? 30-35 grams per day is really all you need. -
ARCHIVED Glutened By The Steering Wheel! I Just Want To Cuss,
Wolicki replied to txplowgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I honestly don't think he is ever going to get it. Every time I read one of your posts, I think back to when he signed on and started complaining about how touchy you are. Girl, I think you might be better off without him. I am sorry he is such a jerk, but your health and sanity will be better off without him. You deserve some one who cares about you... -
ARCHIVED Need Advice With Regards To Symptoms,Diet And Blood Test Results
Wolicki replied to smile's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My only abnormal lab was positive IGa, and it was confirmed Celiac. You need to try a 100% gluten free trial. I bet that's what it is, based on your symptoms. -
ARCHIVED Pregnant Celiac-Really Need Advice
Wolicki replied to Ange7894's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Well, here's what we did. I am Celiac, as is my 9 year old. My 12 yr old tested negative, but had vitamin defiencies. A shared household is dangerous for 2 of us, so we are all gluten free. It certainly would be safer for you to have a gluten free household. In the end, I think it's up to you. If your child wants to have gluten once he/she is old enough... -

ARCHIVED Xanthan Gum And Tapioca
Wolicki replied to sandsurfgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
So sorry you are having these issues. You could try replacing the tapioca with potato starch, and the xantham gum with guar gum to see if that helps when you're doing your baking? -
ARCHIVED Biopsy Shows Early Or Well Treated Celiac
Wolicki replied to gibsongirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree, stay gluten free and forget the tests! The answer for the bread is Udi's gluten free. It comes in whole grain and white. Soft and delicious and doesn't need to be toasted. -
ARCHIVED Celiac Test Negative...What To Do Next.
Wolicki replied to Gobbie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It would be helpful if you could post your test results, with the name of each test. Sometimes doctors do not order the full panel. You could always try a gluten free trial.... -
ARCHIVED Not Sure What To Make Of Tests....Can Someone Help?
Wolicki replied to madiva87's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I was diagnosed with Lupus, which I dont have, hypothyroid and osteopenia and osteoporosis, and some other things, which all turned out to be related to Celiac, which I do have. Be thankful that your doctor understands the related issues and will be testing you. Many here had to suffer for years before being tested. It makes total sense to be tested... -
ARCHIVED So What Was The Verdict On Rice Chex?
Wolicki replied to jasonD2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Jason, I have become very sensitive, and it doesn't bother me at all. My son eats it every day with no issues. Janie -
ARCHIVED Recently Diagnosed Where Do I Start
Wolicki replied to teresasupermom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
HI and welcome to the forum. My son and I are Celiac. He was 9 at diagnosis. Here are some tips: Since she has stomach issues, she needs time to heal. It's best not to introduce gluten free replacement foods for a few months, and she will probably heal faster off dairy. Dairy replacements: coconut milk, almond milk. Add some chocolate syrup to it... -
HOw crazy is that? I used to have dreams at least once a week where all my teeth fell out, I had a big presentation to make, and I couldn't get them fixed. Either every dentist was closed, or my insurance kept saying they wouldn't cover it. Haven't had one since going gluten free. Can you hear the Twilight Zone music playing?

ARCHIVED Protein Bars?
Wolicki replied to fran641's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Lara Bars and Kind bars are both safe. -
I had lunch yesterday at Amazon. It's a Brazilian Churascarria, with grilled meats carried around by Gauchos. Delicious and all the meats except for the sausage are gluten free. They had gluten-free Yucca bread. Almost everything on the buffet was gluten free as well. It's on Lemon St. just north of the 91 freeway. 24 hours later, and I am still fine

ARCHIVED Stuck In A Rut
Wolicki replied to passionfruit877's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The challenge is that there is very little difference between Celiac and gluten intolerance, as far as symptoms go. Doctors like "concrete" and this is not a concrete problem. I supposed you could keep going to doctors trying to get a concrete answer, but many of us have done that, and not gotten anything but frustrated. If you feel better off gluten,... -
ARCHIVED Should I Get Them Tested?
Wolicki replied to Carin3's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Testing for children is notoriously unreliable. Why not put the whole family on a gluten free trial to see if they have a positive dietary response? It's non invasive, mostly non traumatic (life without Goldfish crackers can be considered traumatic to some kids ) and may make a HUGE difference in their health. Give it a try -

ARCHIVED Stuck In A Rut
Wolicki replied to passionfruit877's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You need to go on a completley gluten free diet and probably have to give up dairy, too for a while. Cross contamination is a big problem, so it's best not to eat at restaurants until you've got it completly nailed, and that takes a while. -
I think Trillum Hunter and I must be from different states. They do vary. In GA, they are between a muffin and cake, with no discernable layers. As you can see, biscuits can be very personal

a muffin is a little bit drier than a Southern Biscuit. Add some moisture and a muffin would be fairly close.

ARCHIVED My First Issue With The School
Wolicki replied to strawberrygm's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Why not just pack her a cold lunch or put something hot in a thermos? My son takes his lunch to school everyday, in a lunchbox with an icepack or a thermos that I heated with hot water before putting in his lunch. He eats with all the kids, and more importantly, he does not need to have special accomodations, and does not miss out on anything. I do not... -
ARCHIVED Question About Enzymes
Wolicki replied to jasonD2's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Jason, does it feel like you're full to the gills? If so, I had that, too. I found that grazing for a week or so helped it to go away. I also take Aciphex, for GERD. My doc thinks that the problem is actually not enough acid, though. I am trying HCL for that. Anyway, after a week of grazing, that full feeling went away. Are you taking 2 caps with each... -
Sorry to thread jack, but jackay, what type of testing did you do? Through your doctor, an online lab? I am looking for an accurate intolerance test. Thanks
