  1. Hi All, I decided to write this to gel together what I have learned in the last 8 months, since being diagnosed with Celiac. My hope in doing this is to provide some help to newbies in getting through the process. There is SO much to learn. My thinking is that if I can help one person feel better quicker, then it was worth it. The following is my top...
  2. Could very well be Celiac, or it could be gluten intolerance. Since you feel better off gluten, why not just stick with it? Enterolab might be useful for you if you need a "firm" answer in order to stick with the diet, but most MD's do not recognize Enterolab testing, and do not consider it a tool for diagnosis.
  3. I take Zyrtec with no issues and I am pretty sensitive.
  4. Yay! I am going down to NPB for lunch tomorrow, so I think I will stop by for dessert!
  5. You may spend a lot of time alone if you only will date gluten free. My sweetie is a gluten eater, but he is careful, and it works out just fine.
  6. That is one reason I am so thankful our house is gluten free. 2 of 3 are Celiac, so my 12 yr old is odd man out, LOL
  7. last time I checked, a few months ago, the sausage was fine. I couldn't eat anything that processed for the first few months. How about the chocolate? Was it a mini? Minis are very prone to cc.
  8. Always happy to provide giggles.
  9. Is DH brushing his teeth, mouthwash, etc. before kissing you after performing as THE GLUTENATOR?
  10. If you are going to pursue testing, you need to stay on a gluten filled diet. OR you can do a strict gluten free trial. It's up to you, some people need a firm diagnosis in order to stick to the diet. BTW, it's not that bad. Once you realize that eating gluten is like eating poison, it's really easy to stick to it!
  11. I am with you. My 9 year old was diagnosed via blood tests. We declined the biopsy, because the hospital is a scary place for a kid. No anesthetic or amnesia drug is without risk. He is doing great on a gluten free diet, and all his symptoms are gone. good luck with your choice!
  12. That is not correct. If you are gluten free, the tests will not be accurate. Even a few days off gluten can cause a negative result.
  13. I found this link: Open Original Shared Link Also says you can sub farmer cheese. hope that helps!
  14. there is over 22 ft of small intestine. Most doctors take, at most, 6 samples for the biopsy. If you had a positive blood test, and more importantly, positive dietary response, then you are Celiac. Docs see things in black and white, and think that they are infallible. Many of us know better after suffering for years. Stick with the diet
  15. All of the regular stores I shop at carry Mission- Ralphs, Albertsons, Vons and STater Bros. all have them. I believe in other parts of the country, these stores are called Osco, Safeway and Kroger.
  16. peanut butter I don't care for it, but beef jerky might be a good option. Have fun!
  17. Hmmm. Not sure, and I can't add much, but if it turns out that you are Celiac, Synthroid is not gluten free.
  18. THese are almost exact, but I like them a little better! I do 2 tsp baking powder and mozzarella cheese. Open Original Shared Link
  19. Mission Brand, in the brown paper bag.
  20. Mia, What I learned is that your body has been malnourished and not properly processing what you eat. Your bod has to re-learn how to process food. You may also have some secondary food intolerances popping up. I needed to give up all grains for about 6 months. Once I gave up the grains the bloaty gassy feeling went away. Also might help to take probiotics...
  21. Two things: are you taking probiotics? I found them to help immensely with C. Also, you're probably not drinking enough water Depending on where you live, if it's dry especially, you need more water. Plus, you're a runner, you're sweating lots. My doc said since I live in the desert (Orange County??)100 oz minimum per day. It doesn't look like...
  22. Whenever I am jonesing for some Chinese, I go to PF Changs. Ok, not the most authentic, but will do in a pinch
  23. Unfortunately, you just have to suck it up and do it. I had a much longer list of intolerances, and it was hard, but it sure was worth giving them up! Now, 7 months later, I have no restrictions, except gluten. Feeling better is much worth it! Try to focus on what you CAN have instead of what you can't
  24. I googled: Open Original Shared Link https://www.celiac.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=106 Also saw organic coconut flour, Arrowhead Mills organic brown rice flour.
  25. Hmmm. Forgive my question, but why do you plan to roll her food? I just gave my kids their food on their high chair trays, they picked it up and ate it. Does she have dexterity issues? I hope this doesn't sound like a ridiculous question, I just haven't ever heard of this being done
