  1. We like French Meadow "flour" tortillas. They're small like corn tortillas but taste just like the gluteny ones. I get them at Mothers Market and Whole Foods.
  2. It might help us help you if you describe your lingering symptoms. In any case, 4 weeks is not enough time to heal. It's different for everyone, but 4 weeks is awfully soon. I felt quite a bit better in the first few weeks, but then all kinds of other issues cropped up. Terrible gas, bloating (which I never had pre dx). Turned out it was several issues...
  3. Devon, Have you been absolutely strict with your diet? Do you eat out a lot? Did you add something back in after the first few months that maybe you are reacting to? I am so sorry you're frustrated and not feeling well. I would guess that perhaps there is a secondary intolerance, or maybe a parasite/leaky gut issue going on. Do you frequently eat gluten...
  4. Even if he has a negative biopsy, you need to do a strict gluten free diet. Blood tests are very rarely false positive, and a biopsy takes 6 samples from 30 ft of intestines.
  5. Dont' bother with a biopsy, he's been off gluten for too long. And shame on that doctor for not knowing that being gluten free would affect the tests. Here's the thing: it could be Celiac, or it could be gluten intolerance, which would not show up on a test, though the symptoms are the same. Have you checked everything for gluten? toothpaste, shampoo...
  6. I would never eat McD's fries, first because they're not that great and second, and this is a big second: They contain gluten! French Fries French Fries: Potatoes, vegetable oil (canola oil, hydrogenated soybean oil, natural beef flavor [wheat and milk derivatives]*, citric acid [preservative]), dextrose, sodium acid pyrophosphate (maintain color...
  7. Could be mucus, could be a candida issue. I am sure there are a few here who can provide more details.
  8. Welcome! There's lots of us here in OC. Some great places to eat, too. If you haven't already checked out the front page of this site, check the safe foods list. It's very helpful. Janie
  9. Ange, I would be willing to bet that you have gluten intolerance, which will not show up on any test, other than the diet test. I had so many similar symptoms. So sore I could hardly move- muscles, bones, joints, everything. I also developed lots of secondary intolerances after going gluten free. The good new is that they have all resolved after 7 months...
  10. I found I couldn't tolerate any oral supplements. I tried them all, and they all made me nauseous or actually vomiting. My doc set me up with iron infusions. I went twice, with 3 weeks in between, for IV infusions. It takes about 3 hours, doesn't hurt and it worked. My Ferritin went from 2 to 45, where no pill would help. Something to consider
  11. I took 50,000IU three times a week for 4 months. My levels are normal now, and my secondary hyperparathyroidism is gone too Now I take 4000 IU daily.
  12. I agree with Ravenwoodglass. Many folks test negative, either because spots were missed in the intestine (it's like 30 ft long!) or because you have gluten intolerance, which is a baby case of Celiac, but has the same symptoms. The fix for both is a strict gluten free diet. You have nothing to lose by trying it!
  13. Jason, Jason, Jason, Really? Why would you even chance it with all of the health issues you continue to have? I don't get it. I am beginning to think that you're not going to take anyone's advice, so why do you continue to ask and then argue to the death that you're right? Sorry, but it is frustrating to continue to try to help (and there are so many...

    ARCHIVED In And Out

In N Out has great burgers- get the protein style (no bun), or bring along a Kinnickinnick bun. Their fries are made in a fries only fryer, so they are safe, too. I am very sensitive, and have eaten there many times.
  15. Nightshade vegetables are also a common secondary intolerance: tomatoes, potatoes, peppers and eggplant. Also pay attention to see if grains are causing your discomfort: rice, quinoa, etc.
  16. Many consider a positive dietary response to be a valid test. Why not just do the diet, strictly? Do you need a doctor to verify before you can stick to the diet?
  17. From what I have learned here, the body will rob B12 from your bones, organs, etc. in order to keep the blood level up. When my B12 was in the low 400's, I had terrible neuropathy. Once I got it up into the 800's., the tinglies went away. I've read similar things about magnesium, and that a deficiency won't necessarily show up in the blood. Sublingual...
  18. Megan, I could not bare to put my son back on gluten for the biopsy. His symptom improvement was more than enough for me. That, including a positive blood test, was enough for me. I just couldn't put him under even more stress by doing the biopsy. If his improvement is significant, I would go with that. janie
  19. Classic. I, too, love this thread!
  20. For me, I felt really bad when my B12 was in the 4's. I feeol great with B12 in the 8's. You see, your body will rob B12 from your bones and everything else to keep your blood level up. Supplement with 2000 mcg daily of sublinigual b12 under the tongue at bedtime. I think your D could use some supplementation as well, since you are on the low side and...
  21. Your blood tests were positive. The cure for either Celiac or Gluten intolerance is a life long gluten free diet. And sorry to say, your doctor is wrong. You have to be 100% gluten free, with either diagnosis. Once in a while cheating is not an option- at least not if you want to heal.
  22. OK, so we've got Nightingale, Maggie Mermaid, Sandsurfgirl and Mskedi.......add Wolicki and we have enough for a Thriller line!
  23. Well, I've got the "Zombie Shuffle" down pat I haven't worked on the rest of it yet, but will have it licked by Summer. I am thinking I will post it on You Tube Nothing like a middle aged white woman doing Thriller for a good laugh, right?
  24. Oh, good, I am glad you find it helpful. That was my biggest frustration, is that I was sick for over 10 years and doctors just did not have a clue. Once I realized that doctors were not going to be able to help me, and that I needed to take control of my own health, I felt so much better, emotionally and physically. If even one more doctor told me that...
