  1. I've put this question out there before, but I'm wondering if anyone has any new opinions - recent bloodwork shows continued increase in platelet count. When I research this, inflammation is a possible cause. My Ttg was negative, so is it possible to still have inflammation? My hematologist want to investigate further. I've been putting this off for over a year, but now I have to let him look into this. Any opinions? Also, the gastro wants me to take B-12 shots for "low reading" (not below normal) Should I take the shots?

    Thanks!

  2. I just wanted to put my 2 cents in regarding this meal. I ordered it once at PF Changs and it was delicious. Recently, I ordered it again and after one bite it tasted so spicy, I couldn't eat any more. I told the waiter and he said he would have them make a new dish (mild). He came back so quickly I was a bit suspicious. That dish was exactly the same (so spicy). At that point, I was frustrated and just left the restaurant. I can't eat anything spicy, and I don't remember it tasting that way the first time I ordered it.

Anyone else have this experience? Is this dish supposed to be spicy?

    Thanks.

  3. Saw my hematologist yesterday and once again my platelets are creeping up. He mentioned that it could be related to Celiac Disease, but not if I'm following the diet (which I am). I have to return in a month to retest, but he also said it could be "a bone marrow disorder) Scary!.

Anyone out there had this issue? When I googled this "inflammation" is mentioned. Can I have "inflammation"if I'm following the diet?

    Thanks for any help.

  4. I belong to the Palm Beach County Celiac Support Group. This is a chapter of the Celiac Disease Foundation. Phyllis Kessler is the President. This group has recently merged with the Southeast Florida Celiac-Sprue Support Group. There are over 100 members who meet bi-monthly at the Civic Center in Delray Beach.

I live in Broward County (as do several other members.) It's about a 30 min. drive from here. If you want to contact Phyllis Kessler her e-mail is pkessler23@aol.com.

  5. I'm reposting this in hopes of some help. I had this test done and the results are confusing to me. I scored the highest on tuna and cane sugar. Many other foods were listed, many of which I never eat. My question is how do I remove all of these foods, most are things I eat daily (milk, corn, rice). How reliable are these tests. My GI dr. doesn't consider them at all. Also, why wouldn't wheat or rye show up and oats did. (Don't eat any of them).

    Please advise.

    Thanks

  6. Because I've been suffering with daily headaches and stomach discomfort, I decided to have this test done. I was shocked by the results because I showed an intolerance to corn and rice, plus many other foods. If I eliminate corn and rice, I won't be left with much to eat. How reliable are these tests? I feel like I have few enough choices in my diet, and now all these other foods would have to be eliminated. Cane sugar and tuna were listed as the highest reaction. Some of the foods listed I never eat. Also, wheat and rye were negative, but oats were listed. Is it worth it to give up all of these foods? My GI doctor does not consider this test accurate.

    Thanks

  7. First, did Pfizer say the medication definitely had gluten, or did they say they wouldn't guarantee it? There's a HUGE difference. Every Xanax product I've ever seen or checked has been gluten-free.

Second, I disagree that gluten is common in medications. In five years I've almost NEVER found a medication with gluten. It is in fact fairly common for a company to issue a legal CYA, but that's completely different from a medication definitely containing gluten. Medications cause stomach upset in a huge number of people who do not have cleiac or gluten sensitivity.

If I'm wrong about this, I'd be interested in seeing a list of medications that DEFINITELY have gluten. I can't name even one prescription one right now.

  8. Because I was anemic, my Hematologist referred me to the Gastro Dr. That is how I was diagnosed with Celiac. I was then give 10 infusions of iron, and since then (2 1/2 yrs ago) my blood tests have been good.

I don't know if you're seeing a Hematologist, but maybe that's an avenue to explore.

Years ago, when I was anemic, I couldn't take oral iron (hurt my stomach) I was self-injecting.

    Hope you find an answer.
