ARCHIVED Gluten Free For A Year-Let Me Share What Worked For Me
bluebonnet replied to marycontrary's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
cool ... that's awesome to give a 1 year update! i can't wait to see what difference a year makes for me. each day is a step towards healing and feeling better! take care! question- do you sleep through the night regularly now? -
i also wanted to add that i have noticed i can go much longer between eating these days since being on a gluten free diet. so hopefully you will see improvement as time goes on with the blood sugar drops.

i've got hypoglycemia and i keep nuts and larabars in my purse if on the go. for a fast fix have you considered rice cakes with peanut butter or apple slices with pb? or try slicing a frozen banana with pb. cheese sticks are great too if dairy isn't a problem. don't go for the candy ... it helps VERY temporarily and you'll still feel that crappy feeling...

i have numbness/tingling down my leg, feet and hands. i noticed (towards the end of my 3rd month) that has become less frequent. same with the ataxia, also a noticable difference. not gone yet (still have a long way to go especially since i did a challenge and reversed some of the healing). which i also noticed was increased while on said challenge. dry...

ARCHIVED So Grateful For Years Of Painful Symptoms - Really!
bluebonnet replied to gf-soph's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
that's awesome!!!! even though you still have issues, you must feel gratitude, relief and peace of mind now for sure! my gi doc said to try the probiotic brand "align". its realllllly pricey though ... $28 for 1 pack, so basically 1 buck per pill! but probiotics do help, so maybe they can offer your "ibs" a little relief. -
ARCHIVED Books
bluebonnet replied to gehry88's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
dr. peter green's "celiac disease, a hidden epidemic" is helpful (but everything in it can be found here too). also, my mom just got me a really good cookbook that we've been enjoying so far. its called "incredibly easy gluten free recipes" by publications international ... she found it at barnes & noble on the clearance rack for $6! -
ARCHIVED Yet Another Newbie Looking For Help
bluebonnet replied to DG61's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
wow, it sounds like you have to steer clear of so many foods it would be hard to offer up ideas. to gain weight maybe you could try olive oil to add good fats to your diet. avocados have healthly fats as well. (if you can eat any of this) ... i like to smash an avocado, olive oil, s & p, fresh cilantro, diced tomato, a shallot and squeeze of lime together... -
ARCHIVED Endoscopy Results
bluebonnet replied to bluebonnet's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
that's interesting about the h.pylori test results. i will bring that up. everything i researched points to an ulcer which i suppose isn't necessarily always caused by h.p. i guess right now i'm drawing my own conclusions while playing the waiting game. which is teaching me about patience for sure. haa. -

ARCHIVED Endoscopy Results
bluebonnet replied to bluebonnet's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
thanks ... i did research the ulcer and will definitely be calling them today. they also found a hiatal hernia so maybe that is what was/is causing my sternum to feel bruised off and on. so many issues i just want to be healed. i know that gluten challenge i did set me back and messed up my progress but i am looking ahead now and doing what i can on my... -
ARCHIVED Endoscopy Results
bluebonnet posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
i had my endoscopy and the doctor found what he called "coffee ground like substance in stomach". the nurse that called me said the results for h.pylori were negative and no cancer. i'm still waiting for the rest of the biopsies and to speak to him at my follow up, but i was just wondering if anyone has ever had this and if it could be related to celiac... -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Tried Bonefish Grill's Wild Shrimp Pad Thai?
bluebonnet replied to The Fluffy Assassin's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
i didn't try the thai but i've eaten there a few times and did not have any problems afterward. -
ARCHIVED Bruised Sternum Due To Inflammation
bluebonnet replied to bluebonnet's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
thanks so much. it is strange ... especially because its intermittent and seems like its right under the skin but no redness. that's why i thought inflammation since there is so much inflammation associated with celiac. -
ARCHIVED Testing Confusion
bluebonnet replied to lilbit's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
i had a ct scan done for abdomen pain and it came back saying a colonoscopy is recommended due to thickening of the mucosal lining. (i'm actually getting one done this tuesday along with an endoscopy). celiac has been diagnosed but we feel like they are necessary to see what/if there's anything else going on in there. and yes, the endo will biopsy... -
ARCHIVED Bruised Sternum Due To Inflammation
bluebonnet posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
just curious if anyone here has ever developed a bruised like feeling in your sternum? if i barely press on my skin near the sternum it feels bruised and i know i didn't injury it. just wondering if maybe it could be from inflammation or something? i've had it on and off for no apparent reason that i can think of. very strange. thanks for any input. -
ARCHIVED Confused And Overwhelmed
bluebonnet replied to Dino's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
from what i've researched, yes, they can be in the normal range and still have celiac. reason being other areas of the intestine could be atrophied. in dr. peter green's book it breaks down how there are different areas in the intestines responsible for different nutrients. for ex. my d labs came back extremely low but iron was fine. it can attack many... -

ARCHIVED Was This A Diagnosis? Confused.
bluebonnet replied to mamarie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
completely agree with this! if you want the biopsy, schedule asap. i went gluten free for 3 1/2 months and started a gluten challenge (which is over in a few days!) BUT its not the way to go. i was feeling better and know i was healing and now i feel like all that is undone with my challenge. sounds like you got your diagnosis but some people (including... -
ARCHIVED Best Genetic Tests?
bluebonnet replied to cblack's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
i had mine done through enterolab (which on the results said testing was done through american red cross). got the "best deal" package or something like that but they offer genetic only testing. -

bluebonnet replied to GlutenFreeManna's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications

ARCHIVED Newbie With Questions/help
bluebonnet replied to quincy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
everyone is different with how fast you start feeling better. you may start feeling a lot better in some areas (gi) and other areas (bone and joint pain) may take a while longer. cc will set you back so while you are healing and learning how to eat gluten free it may be best to make it yourself ... that way you know how it was handled and what the ingredients... -
ARCHIVED Thought I Was Okay....
bluebonnet replied to Must...eat...'s topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
you can eat mcdonald's french fries??? i thought they were on the do not eat list! i've not had any problems with the wendy's frosty. yum! hope you feel better soon! -
yes, numbness tingling/pain is definitely an ongoing issue for me in my left leg, feet, and both arms/hands. i was tested for the main associated illnesses and nothing came up. staying away from gluten has helped but i haven't been off of it long enough to see a permanent change.

ARCHIVED Struggling With Coming To Terms With How Stupid I've Been
bluebonnet replied to williamsburg000's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
ditto everyone else ... it took me 13 years as well to get this figured out! doctor after doctor ... day after day plagued with symptoms that a lot of times interfered with daily life. like my husband told me when i went through the "if only i knew sooner" ... worrying and being upset won't rewind the years. just move forward with the knowledge you have...
