  1. You can't rub lotion into your skin????? The last time I checked you put white lotion on your skin. You rub and rub and rub and poof, it goes into your skin and the white color is gone. Or maybe I forgot how lotion works? How on earth can you say that you can't rub lotion into your skin? That's bizarre. I NEVER said you can rub gluten from bread into...
  2. I decided to go off all my supplements for now to let my gut heal. My Vitamin D was low so I'm on high Vitamin D too but I'm not sure if that can cause nausea. I can't do soy, but I've been fine with dairy. I cut it for now anyways just to be sure. It sucks that we have to be detectives for ourselves like this.
  3. There are so many super long threads about McDonalds fries. There isn't gluten in the fries. They have been tested by celiac organizations although I don't remember which ones. You always have to ask if they have a dedicated fryer. Some McD's do and some don't. The one near us has a dedicated fryer and my celiac son eats their fries with no problem. ...
  4. Lubriderm is gluten free, the regular one anyway. What makes you think there is gluten in it?
  5. That is so frustrating! I hope you feel better soon. People have reported reactions similar to yours.
  6. I've always taken it with a meal. I cut both the iron and L Glutamine so I'll have to challenge the iron later and see if that's it. I hate nausea so much. It was getting me so depressed feeling miserable every day and feeling hungry but not wanting to eat. Ugh!
  7. He had me on 20 grams per day. Actually he wanted me to take 30, but I cut it to 20 because it was so expensive. I had to buy a special brand that is high dose. I quit the L Glutamine and iron and the nausea is nearly gone today! Yay! I'm not sure why you're correcting my grammar, but I am a former English teacher and well... if you're going to go there...
  8. My endocrinologist put me on a pretty high dose of L Glutamine to promote healing of my intestinal tract. I have been nauseous for weeks. I had the flu and tummy stuff to go with it so I thought it was the flu. The flu went away but this awful nausea did not. So I decided to do some reading tonight and I find out that L Glutamine can commonly cause nausea...

That's so disheartening that a teacher is telling future chefs that the gluten thing is overrated at that culinary school! That is horrible! Honestly, I have never tried Olive Garden gluten free because it scares me. I worked at Olive Garden, granted it was a very long time ago, but stuff was just flying all over the place. If it's the way it was back...
  10. It's not that easy to get off your hands and if it's in your hand soap then you're just rubbing it in. You make your breakfast, eat something with your fingers... you get the idea. Shampoo and conditioner run all over your face in the shower and get everywhere. I figure it's an easy thing to change to protect yourself.
  11. This mind over matter thing is my big revelation in life right now. I ended up hospitalized recently with low aldosterone- the hormone that regulates kidney function and salt in your body. It made me very sick and it took days to get labs back and figure out what was wrong. I spent 10 days in the hospital and 7 of those were waiting on lab results and just...
  12. I was having lingering fatigue for the longest time. I found out my iron was low normal. Low normal isn't good enough in my opinion considering the range is huge. I started taking iron and what a difference it made. But the doc just said it was normal. I had to look at my own labs and say wait a minute, this isn't good.
  13. That is interesting because I was craving dates awhile back and had started eating them. I ran out and quit but now I think I'll buy some more.
  14. I read a few books but the best knowledge I got was here in these forums. I read so many past threads in many different sub forums. I used the search function on this site and read thread after thread. Then of course posting your questions and getting answers helps a lot, but sometimes an issue has been discussed in depth at a different time and you can find...
  15. I think that doctors are resistant to celiac diagnosis because of exactly what you are saying Chad. They are trained to throw a drug at things and if there isn't a drug the disease doesn't exist. I think it's hilarious that a doctor called HCL supplementation "snake oil" considering the person I learned this from is a gastroenterologist!!!! I suggest...
  16. I am afraid of crumbs. My daughter ate some cookies when my husband took the kids out the other day. She came home and hugged me, kissed me and then drank my water and he forgot to tell me she'd been eating gluten. But the big D and the run to the toilet told me all I needed to know. I would never cheat. Never, ever, never, ever. There is no food on this...
  17. Chad I'm glad you got some relief. I suggest getting a supplement with only Betaine HCL and then get an enzyme tab without it. That way you have complete control over how much HCL you're taking and you can add it in small amounts if you need more without adding more of the enzymes. You may need to take more of it for now, or with heavier protein based meals...
  18. I was in two hospitals recently (got transferred to a second one for a particular specialist.) It was a total of 10 days. Both of them did really well with gluten free food. They gave me a special allergy wristband and the computer that they used to put orders in reminded them and told them what I could have. The food wasn't very good. Everything was pretty...
  19. I cured 6 years of GERD adding Betaine HCL and digestive enzymes. I took it with every meal for about 2 or 3 months and then tapered off. Haven't had GERD in about 1 1/2 years now. I read a book called "Why Stomach Acid is Good for You" written by a GI doc. He actually tested his patients with GERD and found that all of them had low stomach acid, not...
  20. This is the thread that never ends.... la la la! LOL Okay I'll jump in. I think unless you're meticulous it's impossible to keep those products out of your mouth for many people. I have long hair and when I wash it the shampoo and conditioner run down my face. I always put conditioner on and then put my hair in a clip to let it sit on there for awhile...
  21. That is so rude of her. What does she care how you eat your burger? UGH.
  22. Who told you it's not low enough to treat? Please read the website stopthethyroidmadness.com If it's low you need treatment. It's dangerous to have low thyroid, as you can see by your breathing problems. Get another doctor asap.
  23. Okay I'm going to beg and plead with you now. PLEASE fire that doctor. He is dead wrong and there is no gray area about it. If you tested positive on a blood test you have celiac. There is no question, no way you don't have it. You need to realize that gluten is literally destroying your intestines. In 10 months at 17 years old, your intestines have...
  24. You are on the right path and your doc knows what to do. I know it is so hard to be patient during the healing phase. And now I'm healing from yet another illness. But you will get better! My doc didn't know to watch for my vitamins, etc. and now I'm low on D and low on iron and probably have been for a long time. So frustrating. Now I have a good GI who...
  25. If you are unhappy with your doc, then find another one. It's so worth it when you find one you like. None of them are perfect. Those tests are inaccurate a lot of the time. If you gluten makes you sick, then there's your answer. And if they want to call it gluten intolerance, fine but you still need to be checked for things.
