ARCHIVED Calcified Nodule Cyst – Ct Scan And Ultrasound + More
kareng replied to Astrongtower's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Sound like you are healthy. Maybe need a bit of a diet and exercise change - more fiber & more exercise. these liver questions should be directed to the physician not some random Internet people who know about Celiac disease. Getting occasionally twinges, etc is normal. Don't obsess about it. Go.... Live your life.... -
Are they good? I really have never been to Aldi, but there is one very close to me.

ARCHIVED Gluten-Free Rice
kareng replied to skullgrl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Just an explanation for people coming to this thread - if a product is tested using a ( less than 20 parts per million) <20 ppm test - that does not mean it has 19 ppm. It could have 1 ppm or 0. It's a bit like saying " I want to spend less than $20,000 on a car". That doesn't mean I have to buy a $19,999 car. Might find a nice $15,000 one. -
ARCHIVED Gluten-Free Rice

I use any rice. I am not sure how wheat would get into California rice. But anyway Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Colonscopy To Dx Celiac After 2 Years Gluten Free?
kareng replied to Shantess's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you are having some issues, I would tell the doctor that. I would insist on the doc looking at both ends - you will be there anyway. What's an extra 10 minutes? Maybe he will find something else - like an ulcer. Maybe he will find nothing. But at least you would know. -
ARCHIVED Forum Section For Non-Celiac On The Gluten-Free Diet?
kareng replied to GFinDC's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
If I remember, this topic came about because we had a " Take the burger off the bun" type of dieter. I think it was actually beer. I am not in favor of a section for gluten-free Dabblers. The NCGS people on C .com are here for the same reasons that Celiacs are here - because they have very real issues with gluten. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Multivitamins?
kareng replied to Bschwarze's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I know some medications have coatings so that they won't dissolve too soon - like in your stomach. Maybe some vitamins are like that? -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Multivitamins?
kareng replied to Bschwarze's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Nature Made has many gluten-free vitamins. And the nice thing is, they are a available at places like Walmart and Target. Not expensive and easy to get. Just read the label as I am not sure if all of their vitamins and supplements are gluten-free. -
ARCHIVED Celiac? Desperate For Help!
kareng replied to Insurgo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
3 days of eating gluten is probably not enough. Open Original Shared Link "Antibodies take time to build into the blood stream before they can be detected through blood analysis. For a gluten challenge we recommend eating 1/2 slice of bread or a cracker each day for the duration of the challenge. Prior to blood testing we recommend 12 weeks of eating... -
ARCHIVED Test Results - Was Celiac Really Ruled Out?
kareng replied to Frankys Mum's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
"A gluten challenge is the period of time when gluten is added back into a person’s diet to assist in the diagnosis of celiac disease. Antibodies take time to build into the blood stream before they can be detected through blood analysis. For a gluten challenge we recommend eating 1/2 slice of bread or a cracker each day for the duration of the challenge. ... -
ARCHIVED The Evil Gluten - My Story And Road To Recovery
kareng replied to eluvsphish's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
ANYone can get mono. It's not a sexually transmitted disease. Has nothing to do with being married or not. Just like a lot of contagious diseases, it will spread more easily in close quarters like a dorm. Perhaps you should expand your research to medical websites like this: Open Original Shared Link -
I don't think you understood what I was saying. I don't doubt that many people have something that may not be Celiac related but is a sensitvity to gluten or something that makes it look like its a gluten issue. A lot of the research seems to be pointing to several different issues that make a person NCGS. I don't think NCGS is an actual distinct disease...

ARCHIVED Thyroid Recheck How Long Do I Wait Before Repeating
kareng replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Most doctors do a basic thyroid blood test every year at your annual physical. Especially for women, like us, of a certain maturity. -
ARCHIVED Canned Tuna
kareng replied to myserenityprayer's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Soy is a bean in a pod when it is harvested. It cleans very well. The soy in something, like a can of tuna is even more processed than just eating a soy bean. If soy cc was a legitimate issue for most Celiacs, we would be warned about it. Perhaps you have an issue with tuna or soy or some other ingredient or thing that you eat with the tuna? Also... -
I think there is this common misconception that NCGS is 1 illness/syndrome. It is just a sort of catch-all for people who don't have diagnosed Celiac but seem to have issues with gluten. It is likely that it is many different things with real causes. So, in a way, there is no such thing as NCGS because, when it is studied more, people will have will have...

ARCHIVED Gluten In Injection Medication A Problem?
kareng replied to abaker521's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I haven't found any pharmacists that know what gluten is. -
ARCHIVED Gluten In Injection Medication A Problem?
kareng replied to abaker521's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Does the pharmacist know what gluten is? I don't think that is usually something you would want to inject in anyone. I would check the ingredients myself. But, gluten has to be in the intestines to cause the antibodies to be made. This is for IVs, but it's the same idea as an injection. Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Getting My Home Gluten Free
kareng replied to ladyhutch's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Colanders that were used for pasta - really hard to clean every little hole Toaster - hard to get all the crumbs out but, it's only going to have gluten-free bread, then you might be able to save it. I don't think you have to seal away the little ones food, unless its a temptation to the other? Dishwasher should be fine. Bleach isn't necessary -... -
ARCHIVED Northern California-From Sacramento On East....
kareng replied to Michelle1's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Sacramento has at least 1 gluten-free bakery. Maybe hang out there? Don't they have an all gluten-free restaurant or 2? Maybe see when the Sac Celiac support group meets? -
That post you are responding to is from 2007. Not sure if the poster is still around to respond.

ARCHIVED Rice Krispies Brown Rice Rice Krispies - Gluten Free?
kareng replied to kristin21's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I ate them when they first came out. I was fine. Didn't really like them that much. They have no real nutritional value. I like a bit of fiber and protein in my breakfast. I have been eating Open Original Shared Link . They have a rice Krispie type, too. Just look carefully as all their cereals are not gluten-free. -
ARCHIVED Help :)
kareng replied to Waller237's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You know you should be eating gluten to get an accurate endoscopy, right? I would hate for the doc to say you don't have Celiac because some of the damage has healed. Damage is usually not in all of the small intestine. It is " spotty". So, if they take 4 biopsies, and you have started to heal, it can be really hard to get a positive biopsy. -
ARCHIVED Soy - Cross Contamination
kareng replied to killernj13's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Soy is a bit different than wheat or oats. Soy is a bean. It is easy to wash off. I think this is a big difference in why oats are cc'd and soy is usually considered safe. Just my thought. Now, it is possible to have an issue with soy - Celiac or not. -
ARCHIVED Help :)
kareng replied to Waller237's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It sounds like you have Celiac disease but have never done the gluten-free diet for very long? The damage can take months or years to heal. 14 years of untreated celiac may never entirely clear everything up.
