  1. You only need to change things that can't be scrubbed clean. Something with lots of scratches or cracks might be hard to get clean. A colander used for gluten pasta is next to impossible to clean out each little hole. Toasters are full of gluten crumbs. A PB jar might have bread crumbs in it. That sort of thing.
  2. Yeah! That crust does have a lot of ingredients so there is a lot of stuff to react to.
  3. Made this: http://abc.go.com/shows/the-chew/recipes/Chicken-Pad-Thai-Daphne-Oz Yummy. Subbed frozen peas for bean sprouts. Hub & Boy like peas better. Didn't put all the garnishes. Very peanut buttery. Some might like less peanut butter. Didn't notice the eggs so you could probably do without - maybe a little extra chicken. Funny thing...
  4. Sounds like the spam settings on your email got changed. Everyone gets bad emails but the spam filter on the email usually blocks them and you never see them. Look at other people's profiles and you will see what the public can see. Or look at yours without logging in.
  5. Sounds like a contact allergy to me.
  6. Any info on this thread is really out of date- more than 5 years old. Poducts change in that period of time. Please re-check any ingredients before buying. Having soy and corn does not mean they contain gluten.
  7. We could get really scientific - molecular masses, octanol-water partition coefficients, etc but most of us would just be looking like this Open Original Shared Link
  8. My understanding on these types of articles are that they are "case studies". They are made up of one or a small group of patients - too small to be statistically relevant. They aren't meant to become the newest scientific or medical breakthroughs or findings. Rather, they are meant to raise discussion, cause researchers to think in different ways, and...
  9. Welcome. It gets easier as you go along. I live with gluten eaters but they are committed to keeping me safe. Here are a few places to get started. You don't have to learn it all at once. I have to go get the links so I will be adding for a few minutes here. Newbie topic: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/ See what...
  10. But that isn't really how that works. Everything is made of molecules. We can't absorb everything thru our skin - water, dirt, dog hair, etc. It doesn't work that way. The medications are specially made to be small enough and sometimes have a special chemical that helps them penetrate the skin layers. Gluten is a large molecule that is too large to go...
  11. Looks like all or their candies are gluten-free! Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link "At this time, all of our confections are gluten free with the exception of Andes cookies. We do not use wheat, barley, rye, oats, triticale, spelt or any of their components and that includes our dusting on our conveyor belts. We do use...

    ARCHIVED Holidays

You can make pumpkin pies with no crust. tell them its to save them a few calories.
  13. We hasn't been on the forum for a few years so you might not get an answer.
  14. First, this is a 4 year old thread, so products and info may have changed. At the International Celiac Disease Symposium last month, I heard a doctor speak. He is developing something like this but it is still a few years off. They did study all the "gluten eating" products and found none of them worked very well. A few were able to break down a small...
  15. Can you take a really close one of a blister? This will also help you if you need to show a doctor.
  16. While this is not against the rules, I would caution people about giving out emails addresses, phone numbers, etc to someone that is new to a forum community. You can post pictures to sites like photobucket and then post them here. A dermatologist can biopsy next to a new blister and check for DH. A diagnosis of DH is a diagnosis of Celiac. ...

  18. Should have added that the article didn't give a time frame, did it? It may be referring to this study. After 5 years 85% were healed. Open Original Shared Link "Of patients with Marsh IIIA, IIIB, or IIIC lesions, histologic remission was seen in 65.0% within 2 years, 85.3% within 5 years, and 89.9% in long-term follow-up"
  19. There are some studies that say that about 60% do not entirely heal. But we should read the actual studies before panicking & to see things like: - compliance to the diet - were they actually biopsied or just going on anecdotal reports of stomach aches. gas, etc which may be caused by other things - what was actually considered continued damage...
  20. There are some main stream "kid stuff"/ junk food. Open Original Shared Link Halloween candy list: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/104670-gluten-free-halloween-candy/#entry892303
  21. I missed the gluten sensitivity part - no known genes for that. no known test for that. Current research is heading towards NCGS actually being several other "conditions" . However, more research is needed and is ongoing.
  22. I think you got no answers because this looks like an incomplete report? What company did this test? Genetic stuff is very hard to understand. Just remember that - 30% of the US population have at least 1 "gene" for Celiac but only about 1% of the population have Celiac. Just having a gene piece or two does not mean you have Celiac disease. And the...
  23. Suggesting stuff like this just gives her more needless things to worry about.
  24. I have no issues with the dish washer. We share the same plates and silverware and glasses, too.

    ARCHIVED Holidays

I would say that you really don't have to leave your home for the Holidays unless its flooding or on fire. That is an option. Maybe your child is too sick to go where people don't understand and will harm him? I think it would be really hard to be 9, not really used to Celiac yet, and have people eating lots of things he can't eat. It will be hard for...
