  1. I would test him while he is eating gluten. I'm not sure why you think there are so many false negatives. This seems to be some rumor or a left-over from older test methods. There is lots of info on the Univ of Chicago site you might want to read. Open Original Shared Link In blood tests, are false positives less common than false negatives...
  2. I haven't done it. But I have had a hard time not eating something someone made for me that is supposed to be gluten-free. Unless they have Celiac, it is hard for them to know what is gluten-free. It would be hard to make sure they prepared the food safely. For example, Many people don't realize soy sauce has wheat in it. They might marinate your...
  3. This lists some nutrition concerns for vegans and vegetarians. Perhaps you are a bit light on some of them? Open Original Shared Link
  4. Good idea. I noticed you didn't provide any links for your assertions about corn.
  5. Migraines are a symptom. Not sure about the cyst. I know I have not had more than 4 migraines in the 3 1/2 years I have been gluten-free. Those 4 were not very bad and went away with Excederin
  6. OH! I'm so sorry about your baby! That has to be one of the hardest things to get past! Yes. I would say you are on the right track with Celiac. Let me look up a couple of things you can print and take with you to the GI. You can keep them in your purse and have them in case he blows you off or doesn't know much about Celiac. Be right back.... ...
  7. Was it a new, unopened container? If not, maybe it had something nasty growing in it? Maybe try a fresh one on someplace like you thigh and see if it bothers you? It could also be that they have changed the ingredients slightly? Or, like my son, you have developed a skin sensitivity to a preservative in it?
  8. Are Icees the ones that foam up? Those ones have always bothered me. I can do the straight frozen cokes or Koolaid type ones. But the foam up ones give me bloating. I think its whatever makes them " foam". Bothers my boys, too if they get a big one. And they do not have Celiac. Edited: According to the Icee website, the foam is carbonation. But every...
  9. I think that is the one my folks just got. It works very well. I cooked lasagna in it on Sunday. The top cleans better than my " glass" top does. Better make a pizza and test it.
  10. All info on here is 5 years old and may be out of date. Here is the current info on Icees. They are gluten-free https://www.icee.com/faqs/
  11. According to the company, all Icees are gluten-free. Open Original Shared Link
  12. I see you are posting in several threads about your slushie experience. When you checked the ingredients, what was the gluten item? I have never seen any of these type drinks in the US with gluten - the ones I have checked.
  13. That's normal to believe your doctor over us. Unfortunately, with Celiac disease, very few doctors have had any education about it. I would suggest you read info on reputable medical sites like: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  14. This thread has some good ideas https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/101748-favorite-emergency-food/page-1#entry868619
  15. Yeah!. someone start a popsicle thread!
  16. Here's a good place to start: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/
  17. I have never seen any concern about Popsicle sticks.
  18. Many adult humans develop lactose intolerance. It could have nothing to do with Celiac. I think there are tests a doctor can do to see if that is the issue. You might look into that.
  19. No they are not the same thing.
  20. Aspirin is not the same thing as ibuprofen. I haven't found any ibuprofen or acetaminophen that contains gluten. I like Target brand because they say gluten-free on them. I don't take aspirin, so I'm not sure but I doubt it contains gluten. You could call the company and check if its gluten-free.
  21. Just a reminder that you must be eating gluten to get an accurate blood test. Some people find it very hard to have to go back to eating gluten for a few months after being gluten-free.
  22. Just an FYI, the poster you are responding to hasn't been on in 2 years.
  23. I'm sorry. I missed something. The "surgeon" wants to discuss your results 11 days after the procedure? It can take 3-10 days to get the pathology report back. Not sure why a "surgeon" did an endo but maybe you are in a different country and that is how it works? Usually, an endo is a diagnostic test used to "officially" diagnose Celiac Disease. Was...
  24. Yeah! That's what I was trying to say! Red seems to be the color because there are a lot of red utensils out there. I wanted blue or pink but they are very hard to find. If I had gotten orange (Rachael Ray had them for a while), my oldest son, who LOVES orange, would want to use them. He couldn't resist be magnetically pulled to them. If there...
  25. This makes some sense to me. The Family doc would have received the results but not necessarily do anything with them. He would think that the surgeon/GI doc would explain them to you. And it sounds like the surgeon has set you up an appointment to discuss this. After that visit is over, you may just want to cancel the Family doc appt. Even if they...
