  1. You and I can eat chocolate. CMW seems to have been cursed and cannot eat chocolate. Poor thing!
  2. I used to work in a Children's hospital. This is common behavior for some kids, & parents of the kids, who have been sick for a while. That's why I think it would be helpful for the two of you to see a psychologist at a Children's hospital. Might just take a few sessions to get things to work on.
  3. We use Frank's Open Original Shared Link
  4. And then you could cook it and that would get rid of the evidence.
  5. Oh... And I forgot! Welcome to the club! Disclaimer: due to the increase in Celiac and NCGI diagnoses, the secret decoder rings and official membership pin are on back order. You should receive yours about the same time they stop growing wheat in Kansas.
  6. Just to clarify to someone who might read this: Aspartame is gluten free.
  7. Good example of why I tell people to get a copy of the report!
  8. I'm not saying she has a " real mental situation " going on. But a 9 year old that doesn't talk for days and doesn't want to leave her mom's side might benefit from talking to someone who understands how kids deal with illness. Maybe someone at a children's hospital. I wonder if she doesn't want to talk to mom about her fears because she doesn't want...
  9. Have you thought about working with a child psychologist? Being sick and being diagnosed with a life long illness is hard for anyone to deal with. She may not completely understand it and feel afraid of so many aspects even things you think she understands.
  10. I used to get bone aches during my periods. I'm not sure what it is but I know hormones can cause fluid retention and maybe that is it?
  11. I would say on the beer....maybe wait a few months before trying it. It isn't like " real " beer. Sometimes it helps to " forget" what real beer tastes like. Try a cider. You know those will taste a bit sweet and appley. Some are less sweet than others. Use this as a time to try new things - drinks and foods.
  12. I agree with Peter. Xantham gum is in a few mainstream products but not many. It's in all the gluten-free baked foods, so maybe that's it. Don't eat it for a while then try it and see.
  13. I didn't like the buffalo flavor at all! Maybe I don't like buffalo flavor. I never really had anything except chicken with it. The plain cheese was very cheesy and I rather liked them. I'm giving my Buffalo flavor to my son's friend. He can save his $3 and see if he likes them.
  14. Do you have a Celiac Support group in your area? It might be best to start a kids group as an off-shoot of the established group. Our group allows kids and has had some kid things in the past
  15. I have found a lot less things contain gluten than some of these internet sites lead you to believe. I have found gluten the most prevalent in hair products. Target generic brand Advil and some other OTC meds say gluten-free on the box..
  16. All right, Kids! This is not a forum to debate the evils or benefits or politics of "Big Pharma". I think we know where everyone stands on the original question.
  17. Probably more Cheeto than cracker. You might like the Van's but they have gluten-free oats in them. So, people new to the gluten-free diet shouldn't eat them for a 6 months to a year (depends on who you ask on that) Open Original Shared Link
  18. This might help you & the doctor understand the procedure Open Original Shared Link The samples taken are looked at microscopically by a special kind of doctor called a Pathologist.
  19. I use the packaged lettuces often. When I first went gluten-free, I had a hard time digesting with some of the raw "lettuces" and spinach. I can eat them now.
  20. Sorry....This sucks! I suppose I could give you advice and strategies...... but ..... you probably know that stuff and this just sucks...
  21. My son, now 20 yrs, had to have a tongue tie release surgery when he was 10 months. The worst part was he wanted to eat so we had to distract him. After it was over, they gave him bottles of half sprite half water. He had never had any juice or soda before. He loved it. Had a second bottle. It was done very early in the morning and he never took a nap...
  22. I have eaten these many times over the last 2 years ( didnt see them before that) and had no issues with them. They have some other " flavors" that are tasty, too.
  23. You are right. You should not stop eating gluten if you want to be diagnosed for Celiac. Open Original Shared Link
  24. Usually, if infertility is related to Celiac, being gluten free for a period of time will reverse it. Open Original Shared Link
  25. Since this thread is 8 years old, maybe you could take a current list to your doctor to discuss with him/her? Print it out so he can see its from a reputable medical site. At the bottom is a link to more symptoms Open Original Shared Link
