  1. There is no real medical evidence for that. Some one who calls them self a " Home Economist" is not a legitimate medical or scientific source. Open Original Shared Link "What’s with all the talk about certain types of food causing “cross-reactivity?” There is not yet reliable data about cross-reactivity. As for the alleged possibility that many ...
  2. I have had one, maybe 2 since gluten-free and was fine. They are widely available, so if you are traveling, they work well. We were supposed to have a hotel with a full kitchen once. We got there and they had sold the place and it was being remodeled as apartments. Ended up needing something I could eat with a microwave. Glad these things are available...
  3. Each lab measures slightly differently. Sort of like measuring in inches or centimeters. So lab results will come with the " ranges". Like 0-6 normal. >7 high
  4. The US has no gluten-free laws. Many companies test for 10 or even 5 ppm. Many companies don't test. The only way to know is to ask the companies. Also. Testing something for 20 ppm or less does not mean it has 20 ppm or 17 or any. It's just how the tests work. 20 ppm is a very small amount.
  5. I have had a couple of Amy's pre gluten-free. I liked a couple and hated a couple. Glutenfreeda makes yummy frozen burritos. Open Original Shared Link
  6. Have they looked at lactose intolerance? You might want to look into that.
  7. If your Celiac antibodies are still high, 10 years later, they will want to do another endoscopy to see how big a mess it is in there. They will also want you to really tighten up your diet. If I miss understood what you wrote, and your antibodies are fine, then I don't see a reason for another endo unless you told them you were having GI issues. IF...
  8. I can tell you what the High School football coaches told my son - after working out, eat 2 PB & J sandwiches & a glass of milk. The point being to eat a good amount of calories and protein.
  9. I was curious, so I looked at their website. I wouldn't wait until I got there. I would email first. If you have a doctor's note that might help. Just bring in the basics that you couldn't get safely at the park. Meaning- buy the drink or the Skittles at the park. Open Original Shared Link
  10. I was asleep for the whole thing.
  11. And what about this one? Its basically a slab of bacon disguised as a roast! Open Original Shared Link
  12. Open Original Shared Link It was bacon day today on The Chew. I thought a coffee cake might translate well to gluten free. For the really lazy, like me, the Betty Crocker gluten-free yellow cake mix makes a good coffee cake.
  13. Good to clarify that. This is a Celiac Forum, and someone might think you were suggesting it for them. Carry on.
  14. It sounds like you are saying these things are a way for Celiacs to eat gluten? I would think the Celiac Centers would recommend them if that is true.
  15. I'm not going to argue the many many different facets of the ADA laws. There is a facet of it pertaining to "reasonable accommodations". It might be unreasonable to expect a day care to take a child with a medical condition that would require major accommodations. We and the courts could argue for years if feeding a Celiac child safely is a reasonable...
  16. That is toooo funny! And that little song is stuck in my head now!
  17. I wonder if this is just how your mom is? If it wasn't gluten, would it be something else? Usually nice people don't become mean when someone has to avoid a food. You may just have to learn to live with it or take yourself out of some of the situations. Do what you need to do for yourself. Some of this is the newness, too. Once the family gets used...
  18. Apparently, many people stir their coffee with a piece of bacon so: Open Original Shared Link Not sure if its gluten-free, probably is.
  19. We don't seem to use that feature. I wouldn't worry about it. I gave this 3 stars just to try it. I don't think it really means anything. It was just part of the forum "package" that was purchased
  20. My guys like to eat chili over pasta. The corn pasta works the best if you want gluten-free pasta. Maybe he would like to order gluteny pizza or McDonalds or Subway? Lasagna freezes well and re-heats. Cut it into small thin squares for better re-heating.
  21. I have never heard that as a medical fact. Use whatever gluten-free flours you want. They would be in the "processed" foods. Maybe you heard that from someone that wanted to sell you things?
  22. maybe I was a bit harsh but I can't see leaving a child in a situation where you know they are getting hurt. 3 times that you know of.
  23. Let me get this straight....3 times in 1 month they have purposefully hurt your child? And your child is still in their care? I know this isn't what you are expecting but...YOU are the negligent one! If they had broken bones in your child 3 times in 1 month, would you still let them take care of your child? If a day care had accidentally fed your child...
  24. My Hub loves Dan Brown but I'm not so into it. I have enjoyed a coup,e of his books. Not sure if he has read that one yet.
