  1. Looks like your juice actually says its gluten-free. Most juice would be gluten-free. Besides an obvious wheat ingredient (not likely in a juice), it could list barley malt or just malt as a sweetener. Its an expensive sweetener and not used very often. .Open Original Shared Link
  2. http://beta.abc.go.com/shows/the-chew/recipes/Chocolate-Caramel-Peanut-Bars-Popcorn-Gelato-Michael-Symon I made the candy bar part of these last night! They are soooo good! And easy to make. Not sure about popcorn gelato tho.
  3. that sounds really good. I liked the plain cheese ones but found I eat too many.
  4. I made this last night. Its WONDERFUL! They are a bit hard to assemble. I left my tator tots out too long to thaw and they seemed a bit dry and crumbled when cut. I might try them frozen next time. I found the easiest thing is just to slice them in half and stick 2 thin pieces of a good sharp cheddar in between, then wrap. I laid out the little...
  5. Maybe a stupid question but.... How are you freezing eggs? I have frozen them cooked like scrambled/casserole. For some reason I never thought of freezing them raw. This would be great for traveling.
  6. Your OB/GYN can run the blood test for Celiac. You could show him/her some info if they don't know about it. Open Original Shared Link
  7. I'm curious- if you have never been to a GI, how were you diagnosed with Celiac? So few people have a family doc that feels comfortable diagnosing with just blood tests, symptoms and results. It might be helpful for others to hear your doctor's process.
  8. Hopefully you will see this- Celiac is not an allergy so allergy testing won't diagnose it. There are specific blood tests for Celiac disease and any of those docs should be able to order them. You need to be eating gluten to get an accurate test, so don't eliminate it until all testing is completed.
  9. We had Experimental Dinner. Rules of Exp. Dinner: I make some recipes I have been wanting to try. They may have nothing to do with each other and make a strange meal. If you don't like it you don't have to eat it but you have to try everything. Constructive comments are encouraged. Tonight's was a success! Everyone liked everything just the way it...
  10. Sorry you thread got hijacked. To answer your question about foods labelled gluten-free. In the US, there is no definition of gluten-free. Many companies choose to test for gluten and label gluten-free. Some label gluten-free if they use no gluten in the product. Many don't bother to label gluten-free but that doesn't mean there is gluten in the ingredient...
  11. Then buy whole beans and grind at home or in the store.
  12. I think butter might have Whey in it, too? If you can't do dairy? I guess they don't use the whey part in regular butter but it is used to give a buttery taste to things: "Whey cream and butter[edit] Cream can be skimmed from whey. Whey cream is more salty, tangy, and “cheesy” than ("sweet") cream skimmed from milk, and can be used to make whey but...
  13. ..6 people had a slight reaction to someone putting corn in their rectum. Some of these studies of 10-20 patients that you keep putting on this forum actually say that they are just a preliminary study and more in depth study needs to be made. If corn bothers you....sorry. don't eat it. But to say that a large % of Celiacs can't eat it safely is not...
  14. Once again...your " proof" contradicts you. Your article says " But the chances are pretty slim that any wines actually contain gluten. " I really don't understand you odd comment about 20 ppm. Just because a product is tested using the test " less than 20 ppm" , that does not mean it has 20 ppm or 19 or 6. It could have 0. Many of the certified gluten...
  15. Glass cleans very well. You should be fine. It's hard to find nice glass one these days.
  16. I guess we can see why he's your BF tonight!
  17. I like the baguettes a lot! They have a lot of holes to sop up soup or cheese fondue. My one son like the Schars baguettes better but those might have stuff Barty doesn't want.
  18. In the US, they are no-nos.
  19. Here's the link so you can report the unlabeled gluten foods you have purchased Open Original Shared Link
  20. I will state once again, in the US, wheat as an ingredient in food cannot " hide". If you believe a manufacturer is " hiding " gluten in a food and have proof of that, you should report it. There is a way to do that on the FDA website, I believe. But seriously...from that study you cited, it doesn't mention corn. The second study gave them gluten with...
  21. This is not true. In the US, wheat falls under the Allergen labeling laws. It must be declared in a food ingredients. Corn is considered safe for Celiacs.
  22. They don't take a " vow" to not say anything bad about other practitioners. There are internal hospital ways to handle things. For instance, we took away a surgeon's privileges to do anything more complicated than a tonsillectomy. He was good at the simple procedures but not the harder stuff. Every death in a hospital is reviewed by several people. Believe...
  23. Might want to check this list? Maybe the meds bother you and it has nothing to do with gluten? Open Original Shared Link
  24. I have never heard of this brand. The way tomatoes are grown and processed, gluten contamination seems unlikely. What stands out to me here is "at the sitter's". Maybe that is the issue? Maybe he got a cracker from another kid? A sitter that isn't careful about cc? Not sure what else he ate with the canned tomatoes....maybe they are too acidic...
